Lambier
I like the idea of having the 7 deadly sins incoorperated into the event somehow. Have they ever done that before? I can't recall. And yeah, the concept of having multiple icons is really interesting. Does anyone really think Chance is going to play some part in all of this? I can totally see how she'd fit in (maybe Chance in her pre-Jack days. Wasn't Jack orignally from the 20's era anyway? Or am I mistaken?) But then again, we were promised all new this year so I don't really know what to make of it...I like the idea of having the 7 deadly sins incoorperated into the event somehow. Dr. Jimmy
name a year where the event was set in the past,. As far as I know every Event has been set in the present. L8NiteEngineer
name a year where the event was set in the past,. Terra Cuentas seemed to be a period setting. kinda.... I'm still getting this vibe that the theme expands beyond that of gambling. Yes its part of it, but that post on FB a while back about desires tempting you hasn't left my head. I can see them doing a sin city type theme (not Vegas). A place that lures you in with indulgences and ends up sealing your Fate (Death). It seems to fit with the ideas of skantily clad, attractive woman roles for scareactors and the seven deadly sins (coors) reference made earlier. Gambling is just one indulgence. Even Boardwalk Empire showed more that just casino games going on....

Lambier
L8nite, I think you may be onto something with your sin city idea. Just because we have a gambling theme, doesn't mean it's going to be Las Vegas. And now that HOS has announced that it's going to have it's own Las Vegas themed house this year, I wonder if HHn is going to go in a different direction The incorperation of the 7 deadly sins-a place full of sex, booze, gambling...kind of like pleasure island gone terribly terribly wrong, if you will. Circ
Universal tends to hew towards false locations as well in order to keep themselves unchained by history. The Universal Palace Theater, all the permutations of Carey, Ohio, the fact that Paulo Ravinski comes from a "non-descript Eastern European country"... it all pertains to the fact that otherwise they would have to fit their creations into the history of a specific area to keep the illusion up. JONNYFXM
So as for speculation, I think it's interesting that the website (which I can really only view my phone right now, but...) keeps mentioning fate and chance, but also ODDS. See if you have the chance to beat the ODDS. which can be an interesting play on words with mathematical odds, and "oddities". Anyone know anything or can speculate on "odds"? Guest
Cleaned up the thread. Please refrain from posting that "you are excited" as we all are. The newest HHNO FB post, is only for nostalgia purposes, so discussion about that does not belong in this thread. Thanks.
JackLover
A little recap, just a few pages back. Thanks to Legacy. With a new clean-up comes a new recap. While we got very little as far as confirmed information, there is a great deal of information flying around that allows to speculate on what is occuring this year. Again, this is not an all encompassing list, as this is based on previous, open discussion or documented information. Some "Whispers" have been flying around for months that I have not included either because the sources have purposely kept the information limited or there is little information outside of conjecture. The purpose of this recap is to allow individuals to "catch-up" or remind themselves of things that have been discussed already. * New information is marked with an asterix. Spec Recap What we know for sure– The entrance for the Sprung 2 house (Havoc) is where the exit normally is, meaning we have different crowd flow coming out of that house than in the past. The façade for Jaws is built further out than normal (and is getting a true façade). Sprung 1’s Room #8 is known in the permits as the “Rune Room.” Three of the houses have some sort of overhang requiring sprinklers to be installed (possible a ceiling or “Up-Scares”). None of the previous Icons are returning. * There are at least 8 houses and 6 Scarezones (they’re not cutting back). Houses are in the same locations as last year. Scarezones are in Hollywood, New York, Plaza of the Stars, Shrek, Central Park and IFB. * Something, similar to a scarezone, is happening in “Lucy.” The font of the website can be seen in HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.” Auditions include asking for individuals who can speak Spanish. * IFB seems to be a stilt-heavy zone. What we can deduce – * IFB = International Food Building, which is the restaurant between Animal Actors and Simpsons. Gambling/Games is/are the predominate theme this year. The time period and location of the icon is the Big-Band (1920’s-30’s) and probably NOT Vegas. We are having some sort of “Casino/Gambling” house this year. * A 9th house is NOT happening this year. There has been no casting for a 9th house, no physical clues to a 9th house, no leaks of a 9th house. (It has been announced, but we can deduce it). We are getting something that is heavily influenced by Spanish culture or history. What we know isn’t happening – We aren’t getting a literature-based event this year. * Cindy as an icon this year. Major Rumors and Spec (Not confirmed) – * We may see the return of a “The Thing” house, to coincide with the Universal Pictures release of the prequel. “Death” will play a major part this year (stems from a perceived clue from Catacombs last year). RIP, VIP and Unmasking the Horror tours will return this year. * There will be a WWI house in in the Soundstages. * ”Official Clues” From a Mutual Friend – ”In heaven, the three with whom I would talk? Eoin Colfer, Steve Jobs and Peter Falk.” – The accepted interpretation of the riddle is that, “All die in the end,” or, “All meet the same fate.” There can be more to it, but that has yet to be confirmed. * Character Code-Name Spec – All character code-names can be found at HHNRumors * General Spec says that “Sprung 2” is our Casino house, although that is not confirmed or a consensus. General Thoughts and Spec – Not all of the characters we know from the past were actually Icons, which means people (Monsters? Spirits? Zombies?) may come back. The Queen of Spades has a dagger and red hair… take that for what it’s worth. The Ace of Spades is known as the “Death Card.” * Everyone’s Fate is Death. Not all the houses and scarezones have to tie in with the theme. It takes two cards to hit 21.

I see what you mean when on the website it says, "Think you`ve got what it takes to survive the odds at this award-winning Halloween event?" Is it just me or is it strange how they used odds in there, wouldnt it be survive against the odds? I dont know, Im new to this whole thing, first year actually speculating. It's a slight variation on the phrase, "Beat the Odds," only within the context of the event, "Beating the Odds," means, "Surviving the Odds." I'm really starting to believe Chance will be the icon or one of the icons. I don't care wither way but it does seem to be leaning that way. dante
So, I'm thinking we over thought the first clue and the people who suggested it meant The Thing were right. Clue 1 - The Thing and I'm going to speculate that it is in SS23A. Clue 2 - Saws & Steam in Jaws. As a side note, I can't remember where a read the rumor, but there was a rumor that we would see a SZ from last year turned into a house. If we want to identify which house is where they are planing on storing the Thing..then maybe we should look for a house with a good ac system..since the setting is antartica

JDW
well all the ss's are nicely climate controlled im assuming the tents have ac If they wanted to go for cold. SS 22 would be the one. It wouldn't share it with another house and is typically colder. But what we're hearing from that house doesn't sound right for The Thing to me. Unless of course it isn't a direct relation to the movie. Just an adaptation. Or it won't be cold... or... IDK. If they wanted to make it cold in any of the houses it would only take some extra a/c units. I have done a few tours in the middle east and we had some tents the same size and it was chilly inside but over 120 outside.
