HHN XXI Speculation II

Recommended Posts

Not straying too far from the topic at hand, but Dr. Jimmy had mentioned that it's probably Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand on that doubloon in the Loose Cannon game, and he's right. It was actually the only doubloon to ever hold the portrait of both King and Queen, and is one of the reasons it's actually -called- a "doubloon" as in double.

Doubloons were minted in Spain, Mexico, Peru, and Nueva Granada. The term was first used to describe the golden excelente either because of its value of two ducats or because of the double portrait of Ferdinand and Isabella.

I am totally getting a Home for the Holidays vibe for some reason. A little more Santa and less crazy, but still....

Just keep in mind we've received two pictures from the same room (which happens to be the one that's easiest to spot from the Disaster line). Although I do think this will fit the tone of HFTH as the humor house, this will likely be the only room with a Christmas theme.

But... yes, definitely expecting this to be our dark humor house.

Well, it is probable that some of the initial speculation for Hollywood is right on.

We can expect some cool new techniques in how scarezones are done throughout the night.

We can expect some cool new technology surrounding the zones.

And from my understanding, IFB is nothing but extremely tall people.

As stated by Dr. Raymond Holmes, "Streets are quite possibly the place to be this year."

I brought this up in the Construction thread. But, since according to the most recent updates the walls in shrek alley have wheels. Does anyone think their might be scarezones that "change"?

I could also see more use of air in the zones. (I don't remember them using it since War of the Living Dead?) Possibly some more water effects like they did last year at saws?

New game is up! must be for the Poe House in Sprung Tent 2. Yes I bow to Jeff and admit there will be a Poe after all, and boy am I pleased by this!!!

You click passage to Baltimore of course that's where Poe lived!

Now about the books. The five tomes of not so long-forgotten lore in Mr. Poe's Library are all Gothics and include:

Wuthering Heights by Ellis Bell (the pseudonym used by Emily Brönte) 1847

Faust by Johann Wolfgang Goethe 1832

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley 1818

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge 1798

The Vampyre by John Polidori 1819

All of these books published before Poe's death in 1849.

The Baltimore poster is actually incredibly specific regarding Poe. He returned to Baltimore in March 1831. If there was any question, these posters absolutely point to Poe.

Love the new game.

With the mention of rats in it and the specific titles of the tomes, could this be giving us a hint to one of the NY scarezones?

This leaves an interesting bit of speculation open - we're pretty certain now that there won't be a casino house, per se. But does that rule out an icon house? We know very little about this "graveyard" house. Many have speculated that Lady Elizabeth Hawthorne is in fact our Lady Luck. The house of cards forms a Victorian-esque building that would be well suited near a graveyard. Moreover, many have speculated that Lady Luck has a bit of a dual personality - perhaps one of Death, and one of Luck. The latest card supports this idea with its quote "Where there was Luck, there was Death." Death is certainly very present in a graveyard, and symbolically, a graveyard is where your luck runs out.

In other news - interesting that they'd save a THING game for last. Unless the final game is unrelated to the houses (leaving THING out completely).

Since I only jumped back on board last week, can someone possibly run down a quick list of the houses? I would greatly appreciate the time you save me from digging through this thread. I've picked up a couple of things, but a concise list would really help out.

so far we just know concepts, we dont know the actual names or any specific story lines but so far what we know is

1. The Thing house

2. Some kind of WWI house. I believe a WWI hospital specifically too

3.some kind of cemetery house

4. a sort of tv production place thats having a marathon of several evil twisted holiday movies, I think at least.

5. saws n steam house

6. some kind of pirate ship type house

7. something involving demon and runes

8. a house based on Edgar Allan Poe

Should have added as well to this post.

Could this game point to more than just the Poe house?

We have spec on the Rat Lady being in NY, we have very specific titles to books, and we have books that have been eaten by rats.

We have seen Uni give hints to both houses and zones with one clue (08 case files), so I was just wondering if we are seeing the same thing this year.

EDIT: For those worried about copyrights, each of the works that are referenced in the game fall within public domain.

Gentleman and a Scholar, Sir. Gentleman and a Scholar.

I know that it has been widely talked about in the past, but does anyone think that one of these concepts may serve as the fuel for an extreme house this year? I mean, considering Howl-O-Scream did it last year with what appeared to be a large amount of success, wouldn't it be ideal for Universal to finally check it out? Or is it something that may alienate too many people due to cost/liability/etc. to the point where it isn't worth it to Universal to completely dedicate an entire house to the idea?

I know that I'd personally go through the house, but probably only once or twice depending on the charge. In comparison to other years where I like to go through houses numerous times, it might actually be detrimental to remove one house from the main lineup like that.

No extreme house this year it seems. Maybe next year!

I think you may possibly have a point here. I did notice that on the game entrance animation for the pirate game the image looks an awfull like Sting Alley. The problem is the image pops up so fast that I cant actually make it out. I know JWFearman has captured the videos and pictures and such. But, for whatever reason, the file wouldnt download for me to be able to know for sure. I too started wondering if the games could be hinting to more than just the houses themselves.
