HHN XXI Speculation II

Recommended Posts

How can you possibly have the "right vibe" of being in Antarctica when you're sweating to death in the JAWS house? That's my point - if there is to be a house based in Antarctica, it needs to at least be in air conditioning. Not saying I need to have to wear a parka to enter - a little cold blast upon entering a Soundstage would do.

You've misunderstood; reread my post for clarification, particularly the last sentence, and I think you'll find that I have the same opinion as you. Also, I know it's hard to read through everything, but I did post the following four pages back...

This is my most unfounded speculation, so members with greater knowledge feel free to step in and elaborate.

SS22 for The Thing Prequel is absolutely believable to me. It's the most logical. Not to be that person, but I was a cast member of Dead Exposure in 2008, and I can testify. Those tents FEEL like there's no AC. Even on the rare cold night, I'd swear it was closer to 85° in the actual maze despite it being around 50-60° outside. I don't know how they compensated for that in 2007, but with this one being a theatrical promotion, and the fact that a lot of fans loved the original house, SS22 is a much more naturally affective area. More potential, more room, more control, more variables already aligned and out of the way.

So that leaves us with the deductions that SS23A&B could possible be the WWI related house and the hospital of sorts. Does anyone think the two could be related thematically, such as the firefight and the aftermath? As I recall, not many thoughts were revealed on the spec thread regarding the WWI house, so forgive me if I've separated what was supposed to be a singular concept (the hospital is the WWI house).

Side note... I swear we were told by our ASM and SM at the time that the tents weren't air conditioned...

I read both posts - my point was that entering into an extremely hot house which is supposed to be "Antarctica" gives the completely wrong vibe. Not the right vibe you mentioned. It suspends belief in location. Even with the proper decorations, it's going to be hard to separate yourself from the reality of the heat. I didn't intend to imply that you thought JAWS was the proper location.

I would LOVE to see a Thing house. It IS one of my all time fav films after all. That said I agree that Thing would not fit into Jaws, especially with the theming some have seen and talked about. I'm sorry, but rusty pipes and HORIZON EXTRACTION FACILITY (Thats what the sign said, right??? Damn do I wish we had a photo of that) just doesn't scream THING HOUSE to me. Thing would fit best into soundstage, as others have already stated.

EDIT: True, HORIZONS EXTRACTIONS could be the company that EXTRACTS someTHING from the ice....but to me, I keep coming back to rusty pipes. I really feel that rusty pipes just doesn't scream ANTARCTICA to me. Not to mention Horizons Extractions could be a fear extraction company or a copany that extracts water from our bodies (S&S).

Sorry about all the caps.

I posted this in website updates, but feel it has some relevance here as well. The Howl-O-Scream website has updated. They are going with the predicted Zombie theme. Does this mean Uni will stray from using zombies this year? i am not sure how much Uni and BG know about each others events before they are shown to the public; they are said to have worked together rather than competitively. This is just food for thought, and maybe we can deduct some reasoning out of HHN via HoS ideas... but I am not completely sure. Take this for what it is at least-> HoS is now updating, so Uni should start updating more frequently to keep up with HoS.

I agree. I can see if we do get to have a Thing house (which I am all for) I can't see it in the Jaws house. I can picture it in the soundstages or something like that. I just cant see them putting something like that over there. However, that Horizon Extraction Company does sound like something that would be in the Thing house.....but I still have to wonder :/ if not the thing house in Jaws, than what?

Nice find on the variety article about the Thing house Horror Lover. That's one house's identity down seven to go. I just hope the article is more accurate about the house than it is about who made the 80's Thing movie. Roger Corman? I always though it was John Carpenter or am I living in an alternate reality lol?

It is a John Carpenter joint; I can't take the article seriously due to that error. I mean, that's a BIG error. Maybe he made a mistake, like thinking one thing and saying another, but this is Variety. THE entertainment trade paper. I just can't see that getting through unless there was a reason.

That is a common misconception. However, the truth is it is not.

Ohio is not a real place.... just like Nebraska....

But Rob, I actually lived in Ohio for about a year in the late 1960s, in between Japan and Hawaii.

Are you saying that I lived part of my childhood in imaginary places? Oh, wait....

Universal's Halloween Horror Nights - Orlando (OFFICIAL)

"In 2011 at Halloween Horror Nights 21 you will confront the paranoia and fear that comes from being trapped inside an Antarctic Thule station... A shape-shifting alien is on the loose… but where? It could be anywhere, or anything… Suddenly, you realize, you’re face-to-face with…

2011: The Thing"

Well, that takes care of that. It's FaceBook official. : P

And all those that swore there would be no movie houses, because Universal told us so, maybe take away that there are no certainties when it comes to this event. Same is true of the whole "new era" idea. This house, while I'm very excited about and looking forward to, is rehashed and in no way "new".

I may be one of the few who enjoyed the first Thing house but I do hope they can improve on it.

I've been otherly entagled for a bit and away from these Nightmares. I see that speculation for Disaster! has moved away from Alice and Wonka to Holiday themes. This seems more reasonable than either of the others.

My own interpretation of the code-names in holiday speculation then would vary a bit from Heather. Woodteeth would not be tooth fairy. Tooth fairy is not associated with a holiday. Rather, woodteeth and top hat together make Washington and Lincoln for President's Day.

I agree that dwarf would be Leprechaun for St. Patrick's Day, and egg and grass both point to Easter. (unless grass means 4/20!!!!)

Love matches Valentine's

But how then do watch and mighty fit in? Well Watch could symbolise Father Time for New Year's.

And Mighty? You got me there. hmmmm the mighty appetite we have for Thanksgiving dinner???? Mighty Mouse as a balloon at Macy's Parade??? Mighty Fireworks for the 4th of July?

Anyway, this reminds me of the ring of trees at the beginning of A Nightmare Before Christmas, the Holiday race through the calendar to deliver eggs from the TV special Here Comes Peter Cottentail, The Holiday House in Clive Barker's Thief of Always and the classic Bing Crosby musical Holiday Inn!!!!

Not to mention a certain thread I started in General Discussions a few months ago...

And also do not forget about Chinese New Year....

You'd better watch out, Dr. Jimmy. And you'd better not cry if you get too far off when speculating what "Watch" could be.

This year you’ll experience an eerily authentic and all-new haunted house, based on Universal Pictures’ upcoming thriller, “The Thing.” Featuring elaborately designed & disturbingly real alien creatures and sets, our house will match the film’s terrifying intensity, provoking a memorable & disturbing experience.

Current employees of NBC Universal are Universal Orlando Resort (including Wet n' Wild), Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal Studio Japan. SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment is currently owned by the Blackstone Group, who has unrelated joint ownership ventures with NBC Universal and others. While individually functioning entities, HOS and HHN aren't enemies or necessarily in direct competition. It's closer to a healthy sibling rivalry than it is cut-throat commercialism.

I wished they didn't have it. The original was not great. Talk about a disappointment into hoping they would have truly new material.

Speculating on the code names for Sprung Tent 1, Floating Head, Star, Gutter and Shoes Man. A Bowling Alley perhaps???

<_<

While I would think a bowling alley would be too "open," the code names could work. Star as well. Gutter is supposedly the first scare though...

Floating Head - Talking Head - Omniscient Narration? It's a long shot, but maybe a PA attendant or an announcer?

So the Thing house is officially...not as excited as I thought I'd be but not distraght either. It should be fun at the very least. And it's a prequel house, which means it won't be exactly like 07. I'm just...idk...not thrilled
