HHN XXI Speculation II

Recommended Posts

I noticed in Calvary's pics of the disaster queue we have a papasan chair, wicker basket, and other various stools, tables, chairs, and framed pictures. Combined with the ornate moldings... I'm thinking a residential abode.

From what I've heard, the facade doesn't really match an outdoorsy theme.

Edit: On the subject of the soundstages being cold, I can say that they're usually partially cold: I have vivid memories of Dead Silence in 2008, and while the opening graveyard was quite chilly it quickly warmed up upon entering the interior of the house. The tight spaces (with the various lights and large numbers of people) quickly warm up the inside of the house, which is another reason it's so expensive to chill a house.

Hi everyone. Read through the complete thread, got hooked and decided to join. You guys are good, a lot of the ideas you've come up with make a lot of sense. For what it's worth I think you're spot on with the two icons (two cards to make 21) Luck and Fate. I also agree that Luck is code for Chance. Especially when someone noted the the card suite tattoo on her arm. Good job. I think that the other icon Fate/Death will be something new. It would link old to a new start without repeating a past icon. I kinda like this idea. After all what's chance gonna do without Jack to hold her hand? Move on of course. I looked back through my photos of the icons last year and they were all marked with burn marks possibly to signify Fear dragging them back to the hell he came from. No burn marks on Chance though. Very interesting.

Okay, so do with this information what you will, but my source told me they began/are about to begin shooting the commercial and THEY HAVE DETAILS! They have said the icon WILL be lady luck. So far all they have said about the commercial is there will be a person tied to a spinning roulette wheel. I am slightly hesitant with completely believing this information because it came from 'a friend of a friend' type deal. But oh well, its speculation

twistedhhn, I'm in the same boat as you. My friend reported to me last night the icon was going to be lady luck. He also mentioned a victim strung up on a roulette wheel. Maybe it's just speculation? Maybe it's the truth? I guess we'll find out ;) I wouldnt mind a bit if it was true....I think it's about time we got a strong leading lady again!

Right, because gambling is a theme. It doesn't mean the event is going to revolve around blackjack. So a giant roulette wheel would fit in very well.

Yeah, it all seems completely possibly. Normally, I dont believe people when they come up to me claiming to know the theme, but this all seems to make sense.

I didn't get a discription of what Lady Luck looked like though....I'm wondering if maybe she'll be similar to Chance like we've all been saying? I'm curious to know.

Also, regarding the thing house, I'm not against the idea. I didn't get to go to the event back in 07 so the idea of getting to walk through it will be thrilling. Though I doubt they'll have a house exactly like the last one.....Im sure it;ll be amped up and amazing :)

I have a problem with the whole Chance returning speculation. While her name does fit well with the whole gambling "21" theme, I have a hard time connecting her with gambling. It seems that allot of people forget the Chance is a clown. Are you ready to enter a house that shows gambling at a Carnival?

Next, Chance was created years ago. I think we can say with some certainty that this year’s event was not thought of or being discussed when Chance came about. Whoever the icon is this year, will undoubtedly be involved for many more HHN's to come. Using a character that has been used many times before is not the definition of a new era, in my opinion of course.

Has anyone ever thought of why the last few years at HHN have been called the “Iconic" era? Obviously it’s because icons where what the events revolved around. At least on a general level. I ask you this now. What if this new era means the farewell of the iconic era at HHN? Why can’t an event be created without an icon? Before Icons were created, HHN was just as successful as it is today. Find someone who has visited HHN before the year 2000 or so and ask them if they remember what themes the event revolved around.

Now onto the speculation about a spinning roulette wheel. I feel that it has major credence. During my audition, several girls where asked if they would mind being gagged. That’s right gagged. I know pretty much all of us can picture a girl tied up to a wheel and gagged while something bad potentially happens to her. What if the event has to do with fate so to speak, but not as an individual? What if the event places you as the person spinning the wheel? What if the only outcome can be the death of one of you? Either the victim or you. That ties directly into fate, but doesn’t need an icon to do it. In a way it makes you the icon. Both the individual and the victim play against the house. In a way, the house always wins, because either you die, or the girl dies. Thus, someone always dies. Thereby, allowing the house to get what it wants, a soul through death.

Just some healthy speculation. Of course, none of this can be proven. But then again, neither can anything else that has been said...

I agree with you about Chance, however - not for the same reasoning. They could easily adapt the character of Chance so that she fit the event. This particular HHN might take place before she met Jack/joined a carnival. Just because she was once a clown, does not mean she was always a clown. Saying that, I still agree. I don't think Chance will be returning.

And I think Icons are here to stay, just because they help marketing so much. Putting a face to the event makes advertising easier.

Maybe the previous mention of "Chance but not Chance" could be possible. With the words chance and luck being relatively synonymous, and a gambling theme, luck (be a lady tonight) would be a reasonable concept for an icon. And the GP really doesn't have much of an idea who Chance even is. It could be that Chance being re-imagined as Luck is maybe an Easter Egg for the die hard fans, with no connection given for the public at large. That might still fit the era of a new icon for a new era.

No icon is also completely do-able. HHN 14 (possibly my favorite year) had no icon; nor were there icons for Frightmares, Primal Scream or Last Gasp (my first 3). But I think I agree with you about marketing wanting an icon, and Lady Luck makes pretty good sense.

All mentioned in a variety of previous posts, of course, just adding my own thoughts.

Disaster is not a cabin. In fact, if the facade is being interpreted correctly, it's quite possible that it won't even take place in a single building.

You've grabbed my attention again, mostly because I feel like I've missed something else despite checking the threads for HHNXXI regularly. Automatically, I thought of the Zombie Gras/Zombiegedon relationship we had last year for that location, but it's confirmed that there will be no scare zone there this year. So, possibly multiple buildings for this codenamed fairy tale/presidential house? The facade appears longer then it has been in the past, I'll trust the community's word on that one, but I don't know enough about the disaster queue to understand this development. Is there more information? Not trying to push, so forgive me if this theory is intended for small doses at a time.

Ok concerning Chance as a possible icon this year. It's true that her clown persona doesn't fit the gambling/casino theme but just because she has been a clown doesn't mean she always has to be. I always got the the impression that her image was because she was in thrall to Jack but with him gone does she have reason to dress that way? Maybe with his departure she has been forced to grow up and find her own identity. Other things like the Luck/Chance similarity and the card suit tattoo would suggest her being a good fit. Maybe I'm just grasping at a coincidence or red herring buts it seems possible. I still got a feeling there will be two icons this year, one for each card shown. It may just signify that the the queen card brings death with her though. That's the fun of speculating I guess.

Is there a picture or a description of the Disaster house somewhere?

From the pictures, one of the rooms reminds me of a child's bedroom.

There hasn't been one posted, and the only way to get such is to sneak back-stage and take a picture. Team Members know better than to talk publicly about the specifics of what is seen backstage, and guests risk being trespassed for a year and possible criminal charges (since they are trespassing) in sneaking back there. Furthermore, most of the bigger HHN websites (this one and Rumors included) will not allow the postings of photos taken backstage.
