How did you find out about HHN?

Recommended Posts

Eek...I don't remember when I first heard of it, but I do remember when I made my mind up to attend. I got a flyer from Spencer's, I think, back in 1994. I called my buds (one of whom had gone since Fright Nights) and we went that weekend.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

I watched the Travel Channel religiously in my youth and saw the documentary when it premiered in 2003. I lived in North Carolina at the time but would occasionally peak onto the websites and see what was going on. I moved to Clermont in August of 2006 and have gone every year since.

When i found out about HHN was when i was about 6. have seen the commercials and people wearing the shirts. It always scared me i was thinking back then i would never do it. Boy how i was a puss :P. My first time though was Isles of Fear and even then i was little nervous about it since i was forced to go by my parents since they have never done it before and was curious about it. It was a very interesting night seeing that i rode JK for the first time and that was the only thing i sucked it up for other then Maximum Carnage house because Carnage was one of my favorite villians. Ya i was still too whimpy to do anymore houses so just saw all the scare zones and such. Went the very next year and brought a friend and my cousin with me which by that time i did man it up and do more then half the houses(Caretakers house was insane for the last house of the night). The next time i would go i actually have a date and meet up with one of my older cousins for Sweet 16 and tried to make a tradition out of it. I have to say though my favorite year so far has been Carnival of Carnage. Loved the hell out of Dead Silence and god damn Elm Street still takes my vote for best house ive done in all the years. Went to 3 HHNs with my g/f til she became and ex(bleh) which was sweet 16,Carnival, and Reflections of Fear. I went from a little whimpy pansy boy who hated scary things to falling IN LOVE with HHN so much so that I actually worked it the first time in XX. Boy i tell ya the feeling i have when i works this lets just say it made my whole year. I'm making it an effort to work as many years as possible now. What can be more fun then to get paid to SCARE THE HELL OUT PEOPLE!, and make friends with just about everyone who works it! What more should i say? This is THE event to never miss!

Now if i can only convince more of my friends to jump in XD.

I heard about it from my mother, but my father ended up taking me in 97. From there I went to 98, 99, 2000, and 2001. I skipped the rest up till 2006. I've hit everyone since sweet 16, with it being my favorite.

1993

Back then, Spencer's gifts was just about the only place to get really gory and scary Halloween props. Everyone else had 'safe' decorations. We went hunting for something for a spooky party and there was this stack of flyers...I wish I could find the 2 I kept. I'm sure they are in a box, somewhere.

We didn't get to go that year, but we made sure we planned to go the next.

The rest, as they say, is history.

I had never heard of Halloween Horror Nights until i moved to Florida, which is ironic because i shouldve heard of it when i used to live in California and went to Universal Studios every year lol.

My first year was HHN 19, i was absolutely stoked and amped because i love getting scared, .......ok with the exception of Chucky, SOOOOO

you could imagine my first year with him being one of the "Ripped from the Screen" *gulp*

I knew i had to conquer that fear, needless to say i didnt make it to the exit of that house, i actually fainted in my boyfriend's arms and from my understanding scared the Bajesus outta the Chucky scareactor who ran out to check up on me.

HHN 20 Wasnt too fascinated with FEAR :/ buuuuut i loved the scarezones and all of the scareactors from the previous years

......saw chucky in a scarezone, and i swear that poor tiny scareactor almost jumped in disbelief at how fast i bolted from there lol

i may never be able to conquer my Chucky fear lol but Im definitely coming back every year

IM SUPER HYPED FOR HHN21!!!!

Let's see... as I try to remember back, I could recall finding out about it in 2004 (or was it 2003) through Orlando's site sometime after watching that Travel Channel documentary for Islands of Fear. I was hooked by that, and Orlando's site was pretty interesting to me so despite not being able to attend for a certain amount of years I just let the website act as the replacement experience. It continued to be like this until 2006 when Hollywood's event was to be revived with the Director and their very few count of mazes, but I didn't care, it had been a great experience... although it still paled in comparison to another haunted attraction that I was disappointed to see go that used to be in Ontario (California). I skipped 2007 because I really didn't care for the Big 3 at the time so it didn't really interest me enough to go, I would have been more interested to go to Orlando's version because of Dead Silence and The Thing being there.

2008 came, I got interested in Orlando even more thanks to the Mary Agana storyline for Reflections of Fear, it was then that I was hooked. I had become slightly obsessed with the character of Mary, she fascinated me more than the Director and Caretaker did and regret not being able to attend HHNO in that year, even though I wanted to so badly. Soon after the 08 season ended, I began to make plans to attend Orlando and with all my constant configuring with my plans, I was able to attend 2009's season with my partner.... and despite his gripes about the lovely October Florida weather, I fell in love with Orlando in that same time, the HHN event and the city, and I still want to move way closer because of it. I came back for more last year, alone, for Twenty Years of Fear and it was one of the best experiences I ever had for a vacation as well as HHN... and I became a fan of Fear, I just love him maybe even more now than I do the Gill-man if that's even possible.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend 21, although I really want to with the whole apparent casino theme they have going on the teaser site, since I work at one but I just won't have the money for it this year... so I'm really hoping I can find a lot of pictures and video through you guys and YouTube.

Everyday after school I would watch The Simpsons on UPN here in central Florida and I remember the commericals running all the time. I think the first one I remember was for HHN IV and I wanted to go so badly because the first movie I ever remember watching was It with my parents so I loved all things horror.

The "Art of the Scare" documentary is what got me into Horror Nights. I remember watching it for the first time, and BEGGING my parents to go. I finally went in 2006 and haven't stopped going since!

Well, first time as far as I can remember noticing HHN was for the HHN 16 commercial. It didnt interest me that much though at the time, and for the most part forgot about it. Next year around September I saw the HHN 17 commercial, this time I became interested and I did some research on the event. I asked my mom if I could go one night this year and she said no since she didnt want to go in the park and pay an extra 69 dollars. Conveniently though, one of my friends was going with his cousins, and from there I went with them. Cant say I became a die hard fan as soon as I got there, but after that I became addicted. :D

I remember the tv add for Fright Nights that they played here in Jacksonville and I get Fangoria Magazine so I saw it advertised in there also and I would always look at the websites but I was never able to attend until Carnival of carnage in 2007 and have been going ever since. B)

I kind of had to do some research on it actually. Some people back in middle school were taken by their parents and came back talking about "Crazy dudes with chain saws chasing people through Universal Studios". After that I searched it up and found out about HHN!

I got to thank YouTube for finding out about HHN 2009 because a video about the HHN Carnival of Carnage popped up in the Recommended Video section while I was looking for Halloween Make-Up tutorials. As a Horror Fan, I was instantly interested and spent the last years following the event online, since I never thought I would get there in person. But this year, my parents suprised me with a trip to the US as a gift for my graduation. I wanted to go in October of course, and so my dream of seeing HHN once in my life came true :)

I've lived in Orlando my entire life, so I definitely have seen things about it throughout the years. I never really looked into it because I was always a scaredy cat, but I finally did last year and it turned out to be more fun for me than anything.

Well I saw evidence of HHN a year before I knew what it was. This was way back, not sure what year it was (I bet some of you guys will). We were vacationing a few months before Halloween and walking around Universal when we noticed them building Norman Bates house behind a fence. We figured it must be a new attraction they were adding and thought nothing more about it. The next year when we returned expecting to be able to walk around it we found it had gone. Confused we asked staff about it and were told it was for their annual Halloween event. It wasn't until years later that I found out just how big the event was when I saw videos etc of Jacks Carnival including Jason, Freddy and Leatherface. It was at that moment I made a promise I would not miss the next one. I kept that promise and have been every year since. Already looking forward to next year!

Both in 2006-2007 both the Sweet 16 HHN event and HHN appearances by Freddy Kruger, Jason Voorhees, and Leatherface. I didn't go to halloween horror nights till 2011.

I have always been a horror geek. Well my brother used to play for the Dodgers and met his wife at spring training in Vero Beach. She mentioned that she had gone before when she was younger and that I should look into it. Fast forward a few years and me and my now wife moved to Vero for a change in scenery. We ended up going to the Sweet 16 HHN and have been hooked. We ended up moving back to IL (sorry guys but there are no jobs in FL!!!). So we have been to 16, 19, 20, and 21 (4 nights in a row for HHN21). 3 years in a row and counting! We dont plan on missing it unless my wife is super pregnant (we are trying!)... it really is the greatest time for us as a couple. Something we REALLY look forward to every year!

My story is pretty simple.I found out about the event when I went to Universal for my birthday back in 2003. I've always loved horror films, and haunted attractions but for some reason had never even heard of Halloween Horror Nights before then. It was in September when we went and there were posters everywhere for the Director. I really wanted to go but we missed it opening by a week. When I got home I looked it up online, and have been following it ever since.
