House return/sequel wish list

Recommended Posts

Of the houses I've experienced, I'd love to see the return/sequel of:

Interstellar Terror: That was just such an amazing house. I bet they can take the concept further, maybe introducing aliens into the mix.

Dead Exposure: I'd like to see this house again, but I don't see where else they can go with the idea unfortunately.

Leave it to Cleaver: The one house in '09 where I legitimately felt scared for my life (the freezer scene).

Silver Screams: I bet they can update this house with even more horror movies. Definitely one of the best houses of '09.

As for houses I've never gone through:

S.S. Frightanic

Pitch Black

Psychoscarepy

Ghost Town

Deadtropolis

Hellgate Prison

The Skool

Since last year was my first year attending I would love sequels to houses I only dreamed of going through.

S.S. Frightanic or Ship of Screams- I played a game when I was younger about a haunted cruise ship and it freaked the hell outta me so I would love to experience this house.

Home for the Holidays- Black Christmas (original) is one of my favorite movies, the holidays mixed with horror is a perfect mesh IMO.

Interstellar Terror- The one house I would kill to be able to experience, I love Event Horizon and all sorts of spacecraft horror.

Screamhouse- Same as Fallow, I love spooky victorian sets. Also little girls in coffins are very disturbing.

Hmmmmmmmm what houses would I like to see make a comeback? Let me thiiiink

Dead Exposue-I really regret not walking through this house when I had the chance. From everything I heard from friends who did go through, it was incredible. I'd like another chance at seeing it :]

NOES-im a huuuuge Freddy fan and, since I didnt get the oppurtunity to go to 07, I'd love to see Mr. Krueger in ANY form back at HHN so I can make up for lost time.

All Nite Die In-I'm madly in love with the Director lol I would loooooove to see another of his houses back at HHN.

Julian/Paulo mashup-as someone on the last page suggested, these two characters would mesh together so well, it's only natural that we fantasize about what a house with both of them would be like. And seeing as the pair are EASILY my favorite icons, it would be a dream come true.

Reflections of Fear-NOW BEFORE ANYBODY FREAKS OUT...lol. I would like to see it remade into a GOOD house. I hated ROF back in 08 and was so disappointed the icon's house was as terrible as it was. I think with a little fan feedback and some elbow greese, we could amp this up into something extrordinary.

Ooooh and also...

Leave it to Cleaver-this was one of my favorite houses last year and if they could re-do it, make it a little darker, and I think we could have another bonefied hit on our hands :]

Screamhouse- I never had the chance to meet the Caretaker, regretfully, and I've heard rave reviews about this house. Also, I'm an avid Cindy fan so if there would ever be a chance of seeing her pop up somewhere, ANYWHERE, again, it would make me a veryyyy happy camper ;D

Dead Silence -I'm a huge fan of the movie so the house would have just been great :] I didnt' get to go, but if they can ever figure out a way to make a sequal, I'd be completely game.

Asylum in Wonderland-I think this would have made an incredible House. The SZ was amazing enough; the thought of it being a horror house all it's own is almost staggering.

Mummy Returns House-I know I just got a whole bunch of raised eyebrows lol but allow me to explain. Last year, with all the wolfman, dracula, and frankenstien houses, I felt like the Mummy really got jipped in the grand scheme of things (as did the creature from the black lagoon, but sadly I doubt he'll ever get his chance to shine at HHN). I know they did a house based off of the movies quite a few years back, and I think that would have been a hell of an expiernece.

My last choice is a house that, for the moment, the name escapes me. I beleive it was called "Maximum Carnage" or something to that effect. It was featured back in 02 and it included all the dead superheroes throughout the house with the villians stalking guests. I heard about that and my jaw dropped xD I would love to see something like that again, but seeing as HHN has moved back to UO and away from IOA and Marvel Superhero Island, I doubt it xD

I'm still looking forward to going through Scary Tales 31. There's just so much that can be done with that concept, and it is such a deeply disturbing theme... I'd get the Sads if they stopped.

And because I have to Repruhzent : 1428 Elm Street. The sequel. ................... No, Screw it, don't change a thing about it. Just rebuild it exactly.

..... We all know what happens when you make a sequel to NoES ........ somehow it becomes about homosexuality and... there's...a...weird.... dog thing... And.... Freddy comes into the real world and.... boils the pool .... and..... wtf, seriously, I'm still wondering about this. Who let that happen? Gahbij!

Really though, another Elm Street house? Just like another Scary Tales - answer is never no.

And I wanna throw this one out there: as a personal favor to me, can everybody suggest they do a sequel to the chucky house? I didn't get to see it and - I swear to you that this is true - I still have dreams about going to go through it. Isn't that sad?

Also, Bloodengutz. Again, don't care if it's exactly the same. I am always willing to give love to Arbor Day.

Plant a tree!

Selah,

March.

Speculative sequel prospects from the new concepts this year...

Winter's Night - I think this was a one-off like Ghost Town. There's nowhere the plot can go from here.

Nightingales - Guaranteed franchise, they can tell they're grooming them to be the next Body Collectors. Let's just hope they get a better cast next time. Easy to take the Nightingales and plop them in any historical location filled with death and despair...

The THING - Movie property, been done twice. It's done.

H.R. Bloodngutz - The character/idea of travelling through many independently themed sets (ala Silver Screams or Die-In) will return at some point I'm sure, but probably not immediately. A lot can be done with this character as his fate is open ended - I could see houses based around terrible sequels, film parodies in general, or even terrible films under Universal's banner (This Island Earth anyone?)

Saws'n'Steam - It's a franchise already... They could probably do a sequel house a few years down the line. Will probably show up in the next reunion year. If they were to do a sequel, it'd have to be based during or after the "fall" of civilization to keep it interesting... and it should probably take place in a soundstage for bigger, even more elaborate sets.

Nevermore/Poe - I'm iffy on this one. The house seemed to be fairly well received by most people, and Poe is a timeless theme. Problem is they used up most of his best stories... the only two big ones they left out that come to mind are Fall of the House of Usher and The Caste of Amontillado. They've also already tackled the tragedy of his life at large (alcoholism & death of Virginia). If they can mine enough of his work to use (and I haven't taken a good hard look at it) they could bring him back at some point, but I'd hazard a no. Given the amount of Raven costumes I'm guessing he'll be back at some capacity for the reunion. I'll be interested to see what Howl-O-Scream does with their Nevermore house... will they change out certain scenes for different stories to keep it fresh? Could play a big factor in whether or not Universal feels it appropriate to revisit Poe.

The In-Between - I think this plot/franchise is finished... the story is concluded, nowhere to go with it. They could have a new group abuse the power of the Ouija board and open up the portal again to a new set of scenes... but I find it far more likely (actually, guaranteed) that we will see another "trippy 3D house" in the next two years, if not next year. (Keep in mind - cheap to build on the sets while still having great scares and incredibly high guest satisfaction). Basically, we'll see In-Between again, but it won't be called In-Between.

The Forsaken - Again, I think this is a one-off. There's nowhere for the plot to go, unless they want to go all goofy and do "Forsaken in the Big City" or something.

7 - I know a lot of people suggested this could be a house... I simply don't see it. We already know what the sins and their minions look like... there's absolutely no mystique about that sort of house (unlike Saws'n'Steam, where not only was the house a prequel, the characters were less defined). Plus, part of what made 7 so great was the way the ladies distracted passerby and the minions preyed... It works in the wide open, free-roam spaces of a scare zone. It'd be the same scene 7 times in a house. I'm not saying it CAN'T be done, A&D could do it, but I see this being a street only.

Grown Evil - I think this falls into the same category as 7 without the super positive reception. The consensus seemed to be that while the atmosphere created was lovely, the scares and intensity simply weren't there. I feel like a forest themed house would grow repetitive fast... there's no end to the cool creatures they could pull off, though. Still, I see this one as being done, save for the Raven and the Bat showing up at a Reunion.

Canyon of Dark Souls - Nowhere to go from here. It was a cheap set that worked well in its execution as a street. It won't work as a house except for a single scene.

Your Luck Has Run Out - We haven't seen the last of Lady Luck... she'll appear at the next Reunion as one of our hosts, I'm sure. If A&D has learned their lesson, she'll have a house (assuming they play it like Sweet 16 where each icon gets a house) or at the very least a good casino scene for a Hallow'd Past style house. The Spade Gang/Minions will doubtlessly return for the next Reunion but no sooner.

Acid Assault - Like Containtment and Apocalypse before it, Acid Assault is one note (though it was significantly better than either of those zones). It did its job and it's done. We'll see a similar theme and some recycle of props/costumes within two-three years, though.

Nightmaze - Despite some enthusiastic reviews by a few lucky members here, this zone seemed like a dud. Nobody I know who went through it cared for it... it was a cool idea but it simply doesn't work with the type of crowds HHN receives. I'd hate to see a house relegated to this nonsense... all blackness in a house might make for effective scares, but I can pull that off at any backyard haunt (yes, the moving walls, too.) HHN houses need to have sets, actual characters, and stories. Nightmaze has none.

And in addition to those, a few of the new elements introduced...

Projection Effects - Well, they spent a bunch of money on the projectors, and they were very well-received. They'll be probably be a standard event thing now.

Evolving Scare Zone - This will also likely return, perhaps in more zones and with even more drastic changes. It won't happen in houses, though - most people only get to go through a house once due to lines. Zones can be visited any time.

I could see them following this idea with other famous authors. I guess I just want to see a house entitled something like Horros from Beyond the Eldritch: The Madness of Lovecraft. :D He did have some pretty far-out dreams, that's for sure.

Winter's Night... I'd kill to walk through just one more time. Also would love to see the famous Leave it Cleaver house. But that's just more of my "wishful thinking" than it is actually even possible.

As for the elements we've seen, I agree that it's a very safe bet to see projections and evolving scare zones. The projections I'm a bit iffy with. They were very impressive, but I'm not sure how you could create something that scale again... Yet, this is the Universal creative team we're talking about, so no doubt they could do it. Evolving scare zones I'm all for, the whole concept behind 7 can be done with so many different themes, I think the possibilities are endless.

A&D has had a Lovecraft huose for a few years, so due to the sucess of poe, i dont doubt it will come about between hhn22-25. they said they're waiting for when "the time is right"

for 7, i realy wouldnt mind the exact SZ again. i loved it so much i would be happy it came back :P.

saws could come back and be a franchise, i wouldnt mind.

WN proves haunted cemeteries/mansions/classic haunted places are the way to go.

houses i wouldnt mind a sequel to are: Screamhouse, just because it was an incredible experience(the 06 one was at least).

ST in an excellent concept and it proved useful, so i wouldnt mind another one.

if Bloodengutz came back with a different kind of marathon i wouldnt mind.

i want another Skool house. that was an excellent house imo and should defenitely get a sequel.

there are probably more that i wouldnt mind, but these are the main that i'd like to see, but only bloodengutz has the posibility of retuning as we're in a New Age, which isnt a bad thing.

houses that i would be pissed off if they came back: Psychoscareapy, 4 was enough. overkill after MM, imo.

BC, never saw the first one(DAMMIT) but wasnt too fond of the second one, so i dont want another.

any movie house already done, movie houses are good one time for each movie and thats it. afterwards its complete overkill.

things that MUST get a sequel:CAtacombs:BRING.IT.BACK. it would be easy to put some peckers in either a different time period in another catacomb or in a modern day setting, like the victims get out through a chruch in modern time and the peckers are on the hunt for them.

HAVOC:Unleashed. make that a SZ. i dont want a sequel house because i dont see it necessary, but it needs to be a street in main NY. that would be the 7 of that year.

I was all for the idea of a Havoc Sequel, but with the Nightingales I feel that has become redundant and would much rather see them return in a future year.

Saws to me made a fine house, there were some amazing artistic details in there, but I would almost like to see it return to the streets, kind of like a combination of Hacktion from 2009, and Acid Assault from this year, a big Saws themed zone in New Yorkshire (Or whatever it was called) perhaps even using the projections.

Winter's Night I could actually see being a great Scare Zone (Perhaps in Central Park, or if they ever do two parks again in the Field of Screams Area) can you imagine trying to navigate a cemetery with Snow and wind blowing in your face creating the effect of an outdoor blizzard?! I would love to see this!

Thing I agree is done, but I would love to see a sequel to Silver Screams, I feel that this is the best use of a movie themed house now that Die-In has been done to death, and I feel it didn't work as well in Bloodengutz as it did here and Die-In, so I would love to see this come back, let's face it, horror movies are the only reason events like this can exist, it's in their blood, if you will. So I would love to see this concept return.

Poe and Forsaken are both over, they don't lend themselves well to franchises.

I can't see any of the Scare Zones coming back this year...they just weren't amazing.

What I would really love to see return is both Rocky Horror, and Death Drums! Rocky Horror is a Halloween Staple, and I would love to see Death Drums grow and change and gain as big a following as Bill and Ted.

I like the fact the Orlando HHN is mostly original each year but there are some things I'd like to see return.

Nightingales: Would love to see these return in a different setting, there are so many to choose from. Going way back to Roman times might be cool. I think these will definately return.

H.R. Bloodengutz: Another character I feel sure will return showcasing more b movies on a different theme. He can never be cancelled as long as his fans remember him.

Friday the 13th: Purely because my first event was the year after this one and I'm gutted I missed it. I wanna visit the new Camp Crystal Lake, Jasons gone ..... Right?

Although not exactly a sequel please, please, please do a Lovecraft house. The time IS right. Besides I'm not scared I have an Elder Sign. Gulp!

I'm a little surprised at the amount of people asking for another Thing house. Everyone in my group found it to be the weakest house and from comments I've read on here the previous one wasn't that popular either. It's a shame because I loved the Carpenter movie.

I love HHN Orlando for the reason that they don't repeat a house. Even when they repeat a theme, they take it in a completely different direction (as they did with Psychoscareapy).

That having been said, if there is one house I wish I could have gone through, it would be SS Frightanic. I'd love to see that theme return in more than just a single room of a tribute house.

Pretty spot on there Fallow. I agree with everything.

I also think that the Plague Doctors may be back at some point. Dogs of War?.... maybe as a scarezone... I don't see another house.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking. Perfect year to bring it back IMHO.

This is also the 100th year anniversary of Universal Studios proper. They've announced doing something at the park for the celebration, but I wonder if it'll bleed over to HHN as well. Maybe a "Best of Universal Horror" or something. So maybe we'll see the return of Frank and company, or Norman Bates?
