  1. I'm an avid motorcyclist that rides in all sorts of weather. I own a suit made by a company called "Frogg Toggs." Keeps you dry, and it breaths so you don't get all hot and sweaty. It'd be perfect for navigating the park during a torrential rainstorm. However, upon looking at the forecast for today, is it even worth trying to go tonight? I mean, will they even bother sending the scareactors out? It's 100% from 5PM to 9PM, then 70% thereafter. At least according to weather.com. In addition, the 5 to 9 is suppsoed to be severe with a lot of squalls. I don't want to show up all geared up in my rain gear just to get turned around...I've done that before in other situations, and it wasn't very pleasant.
  2. On the topic of calling OPD just for having a drink, if I'm not mistaken, having a drink in public is illegal in Orlando. I frequent downtown Orlando, and always hear a huge fuss about it. Nobody is allowed to bring their drinks outside of the venue they obtained them from, the cops are extremely strict about it, and have arrested people over it. Probably just to release them a few hours later, but I've seen it happen. On top of that, they aren't allowed to sell alcohol after I think it's 2AM, but that's irrelevant for HHN as it hardly ever extends past 2AM.
  3. Yay, I saw you last night then . I went through with my girlfriend really close to closing time. I think I "V'd" you back. I had so many (totally awesome) encounters with vaulters last night that I can't remember who I was able to gesture back to and who I had to scuttle away from. I usually do a V back, or I salute...but I don't salute nearly as often anymore, because I don't want to accidentally do it in Nightingales...that'd just feel wrong. Also, something I forgot to add, I LOVE the Spanish speaking scareactors around the beginning of the house...they will get in your face, and scream at you in Spanish...for those of us who don't know a word of the language, it is truly harrowing. My girlfriend about crapped her pants during our final runthrough of the house. It reminded me of my instructors from boot camp...except you could sorta understand them if you were paying attention lol.
  4. The scareactors now will cover their eyes to do some tricky/creative scares. One particular scareactor with a knife jammed in his right eye got me good the other night by hiding in the corner, and covering his one "good" eye until wanting to pop out and scare the bejeebus out of me.
  5. This scarezone is amazing. Opening night it was "meh" even though I enjoyed how trippy it was, especially the circle costumes. Last night I went through with my girlfriend...holy CRAP, one of THE best scarezone experiences ever in the park. We had a few "runners" streak by (which btw, I haven't seen many street scareactors running anymore) and corral us behind a wall, which they then shut. This resulted in us being boxed in with another scareactor, who tormented the everliving crap out of us, until we finally were able to run out toward the sidewalk and get out. We went through again, and only caught one scare, no epic entrapment or anything. It's a very hit or miss experience, but if you get "hit" then you certainly will know it.
  6. Seeing the female chainsaw scareactor last night was amazing. I took my girlfriend with me, and the female scareactor had a hell of a time scaring the crap out of my girlfriend.
  7. I hope that any first timers reading the thread realize that the only reason some of us may say that B&T isn't the best is because we have something to compare it to. When I watch the show, I go in with a clean slate. I force the old shows completely out of my head. Last year I didn't like the show very much at first, but it grew on me, and I ended up loving it. This year I went in loving it. It's certainly not the best its' ever been, but it's better than last year, and in my opinion is hilarious. Long story short: if you want to enjoy the show, do not go in with any expectations. It's very very subjective, and on top of that, the quality changes with each different show and audience. Definitely see it a second time if you didn't like it the first time, you might be pleasantly surprised. If not...then well, that's fine too. Not everybody is going to like it. Just like your favorite house might be somebody else's most hated, and vice versa.
  8. You have to beat both games for each card on the "take a chance/backroom" games. The single player games are from 6AM to 6PM, and the multiplayer games are from 6PM to 6AM. Once you've beaten both games for a particular card, you've unlocked the backstory that that card represents. Once you've unlocked every card/backstory, you are entitled to the backstory to Lady Luck. Hope this helps.
  9. If you got the redhead, that's our lovely cheerleader from 20 years of fear last year. I was surprised and excited to see her in Bloodengutz, I thought that she was going to be a Nightingale.
  10. Hurray for the "Nice shirt" at the beginning of Forsaken. I think that the same scareactor pointed at me during my second run through of the night. Awesome job to the finale scareactor for The In Between...holy crap, you got me good! Thanks to the female at the end of Winter's Night who pointed at my shirt too . All in all, the scareactors were trying their damndest tonight, and I got several nice scares, I just seemed to hit bad patches of people for each house I went through. Either I was in a stop and go conga line, so I got to see a scare...and then stare awkwardly at the scareactor as the line stopped, and then moved slowly to the next room....or I was stuck behind some jackasses who would point out every scare and randomly stop and totally kill the flow of the line. So I didn't have the greatest night, but the scareactors definitely did a great job when they did get me. They were obviously trying, and I know that when I go again if I get in a good spot in the line it'll be outstanding.
  11. I was at the last show tonight. Freaking. Amazing. Necessary viral video: I was having a bad night tonight due to some jerkoff guests and the rain, but Bill and Ted made the night for me. I went in with a bad mood and with bad expectations..the ops mistakenly let me in after the stadium was full, and I ended up getting VIP seating! Front row . It was so amazing. The show is back to its roots this year.... I'm watching this again for sure. My memory is really crappy so I know that I'll have to watch this several times to make it stick! I missed the pre-show video, so I have a very valid excuse to watch again either way lol. Quick question: are they still as strict on recording the show this year? Also, what do they think of audio recording? If I can't have a video of the show, which is a damn shame, then I'd at least like an audio recording of it so I can listen to it in the future and remember it.
  12. Add me for every FFP night please, and I should be wearing the HHN shirt most nights...if not, I'll be wearing my old Vault shirt . I'm going to attempt to make the meetup.
  13. I've gotten lost in houses by taking a wrong turn into a boo-hole several times while an ops dude just stood there and stared at me...and then AFTER the scareactor pushes me in the right direction giving some "WRONG TURN, YOU'RE DEAD!" type of quip, the ops will yell at me to move along -.-. While they're fun scares, it makes me feel like the ops are not doing anything other than annoying me after the scare. Don't take that as an insult...I'm hoping maybe the ops this year can fix that issue. Instead of focusing on keeping people moving, maybe focus on keeping them on the right track. Don't get me wrong, I respect the ops that take care of the houses, but just like police officers, one bad one will make the rest look bad. Slight change of subject here...does anyone remember the night they put cloaks on the ops in Catacombs? It really made the house extraordinary in my opinion. I don't know how it affected the "mission" of the ops personnel, but it really gave a lot of atmosphere back to the house, and made it feel as if there really was "no way out." Other than the glowing red exit signs, but that's a different story altogether lol.
  14. "That's right! Dogs of war have no time to eat. Only time to destroy. You will get a daily supplement gel if you are lucky. Reply FAM for the next question." I tried doing the "tonight" thing a few weeks ago just for kicks, and I got that reply. I just tried it again and got the exact same reply. Guess they still haven't gotten rid of the old games yet.
  15. Well last year they parodied Kick Ass, which I'd never seen before...when I watched it, it turned out to be my favorite movie of the year (and still current favorite). I'm hoping maybe they can do that for me again. Looks like I've seen everything there but King's Speech and Twilight though....well, at least I'll get the jokes! Lol. Can't wait to see the show...guess I'll stop reading the thread at this point to avoid anything that'll spoil more than what I wanted spoiled.
  16. If anyone that went to the EP at Orlando would like to reveal some light spoilers, it'd be much appreciated. Don't spoil the whole story, but I"d like to know what movies they parody so if I haven't seen them this year I can check them out.
  17. Heh...so if we're ever tempted to try our luck against fate, we just need to drink a coke zero and we'll be good to go. She'll slink dejectedly back into her casino.
  18. You make a valid point which was already spoken about...in my opinion, trench warfare is nothing like modern warfare. I don't think that they'll even represent trench combat while in the house...if the Nightingales are nurses, then the soldiers all will already be wounded. There should be no fighting between soldiers...if there is any gunfire or fighting in the trenches, it'd be against the Nightingales and not against "enemy soldiers" or the guests.
  19. These two posts, imo, are the most well thought out and reasonable posts in the thread. I agree wholeheartedly, and you both take the whole situation into consideration. In addition, the mention of Uni's soul-sucking legal team also brings perspective to the whole situation...hell, it took how many years to even have Cindy in a house? And that's not nearly as big of a deal as something like this *could* be. My sentiments exactly. I'm happy that this dialog has maintained its level of composure and hasn't devolved into mindless bickering (though there is some bickering, of course) but on that very note, Uni HAD to have had some discussion about it first...they didn't just tell the team "Hey guys, we're making a totally realistic war house" and they said "ok." I'm sure they had the exact same concerns. BUT, that goes without saying, these ARE legitimate concerns....as they are for any house or condition, as Pumpkin brings up. I think if they've gotten this far with so little issue, they probably have a good handle on things, and I think that this house will turn out great and won't offend any more than any other house offends. On that note, this is definitely my most looked forward to house this year. The concept and the theme just totally blow me away. Especially since I'm a nursing student and I just had to learn about Florence Nightingale and everything (though WWI is a bit after the time she was a field nurse). On a funny note, some of the nursing instructors would probably be offended that the demons are called "Nightingales" because Florence Nightingale is still very highly regarded in nursing culture. She was the "Lady with the Lamp" and all of the instructors here wear a lamp, and giddily explain that during graduation we'll walk with a lamp to get our diploma or something like that. My point is: any idea can offend anybody. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be looked into: It just means that Uni probably already has a decent handle on what to do if it's too out of hand. I'm glad that this point came up, because it is a very valid point, and I think that Pumpkin hits it on the nose: Uni should have a bit more warning on the websites and everything for people with any sort of disorder or potential disorder. They shouldn't have to make a big change or go completely out of their way; just a bit more visibility for the disclaimer, or more information in their disclaimer that's on the front page would probably suffice.
  20. Well, yeah, usually that's about the pace of the "conga line" as we like to call it, but if you've never been before, you won't notice that. They know how to work the crowds...etiher you'll be also wanting to slow down, just to look at the awesome scenery, or you'll be filled with fear trying to get out of the room you're in. It all works in the favor of the house.
  21. Sigh. Ten days till the event begins, and the website still isn't 100% complete .
  22. The Hollywood crowd is so high half of the time that they don't even remember that there was an HHN last year, let alone what the theme was. What? I kid, I kid .
  23. I only have a very basic (errr, simple, haha) understanding of chemistry from my anatomy and microbiology classes, all of it involving cellular respiration, energy, and etc. So I had to glare at it for a minute thinking "This reminds me so much of the bicarbonate buffering system, but where does it fit in? No, wait, that's a different chemical..." I finally realized that it's something for you chemists who've actually at least taken the class haha. Going to be like two years until I can/have to take it so I'll just rely on listening to what you guys say.
  24. I think that we can definitely pull off at least one a week if the first one works out well. We should have a new thread for each meetup...we can start them with a poll, and then as it gets within a certain time frame we'll take the most voted on date, and set it in stone. Unless there's a different idea to have a new poll week by week. Or maybe we can just set it to one particular day of the week? As in, say, every Thursday? Maybe that'd be the way that'll work out the best.
  25. Yeah, that's been happening to me a LOT lately. I'll lose a few hundred tokens trying to beat a game, and then one I beat it, the game freezes...and I lose another 60 tokens for "cheating." It seems to happen mostly on the multiplayer games.
