  1. They definitely have twisted taters. Not sure about the Drumsticks. They have a pretty active beverage situation thread over on IU: http://forums.insideuniversal.net/threads/hhn-drink-changes.12739/ The cliffnotes version is that that as the weekend went on, sounds like they've been easing up on the restrictions a bit but still no bloodbags/jello shots and NONE of the pop ups serve shots/made to order drinks. Just beers, cider, and the 3 pre-mixed signature drinks. UPDATE - Wine at carts as of 9/21. Mixed drinks available at Finnegans (no hanging at the bar though, a server tells you which bartender to go to and you order your drinks and then leave through the front door) and the Alcatraz place...some confusion as to if they have liquor in Springfield. Beverages are $12+tax each this year. UPDATE - refills are between $8 - $9 Not a $0.30 discount like I erroneously reported. Round blinky cups for beer, square ones for signature drinks. No reports about carts with Fosters Oilcans and Heiny/Miller Lite Tallboys or any of that stuff. That's my interpretation of the discussions going around. I don't go until next weekend...but hope the easing up the restrictions and the building up of scarezones (someone said stripper poles were added to Alters of Horror) continues until I go Liquid Fear – Vodka cocktail with cranberry juice and lemonade Liquid Courage – Tangerine rum with orange juice and sprite Midnight Madness – 50% Liquid Courage, 50% Liquid Fear, 100% Midnight Madness source: http://mickeyxtreme.net/blog/food-and-drinks-coming-to-halloween-horror-nights
  2. Shameless bump to make this look like a new comment so anybody that might have done the UTH tour(s) opening week can comment on what the current photography rules are
  3. Wow, I assumed it was an issue with a bunch of people. We honestly have someone with the issues every single year (in a group between 5-12 depending on who goes each year)! Maybe NYers just have !@#$%ed up fingers. We have 2 diabetics in the group, including myself, who have a lot of scar tissue on their fingers from constantly checking sugar levels, but it's not just us. Always so annoying that they used to make you sign the tickets just in case this issue came up, but the signatures matched up with state issued drivers licenses still didn't matter to them.
  4. That's crazy...I've gone through with a bag full of lenses. No hot shoe flashes as I don't like the results, but never had a problem. Was asked once if it's a video camera (what camera DOESN'T have video!?!?!) and played super dumb and said no, it's a camera not a camcorder or something stupid like that which made them happy (old security right in front of the gates). I've heard of people having issues with Monopods with the security thinking they were super beefy selfie sticks which are prohibited. To be honest, it's part of the reason I make sure to do the stay and scream so the secondary security doesn't give me any !@#$. I have a sling bag that will hold my camera and 3 lenses and a 4th with an external pouch and have never had a problem. I have a full backpack that holds a bazillion things plus the kitchen sink and a tripod that I wouldn't bring to the event due to the fear of this issue. Just tell them the dumbed down half-truth as they really don't care. "This is my wideangle lens for when I want to take pictures of the buildings and rides, then this is for taking pictures of scareactors, then this is my semi zoom kit lens, then this is my zoom lens to take pics during Academy of Villians...." they'll get bored by your nerd answers and tell you to move on. Is that professional gear? "No, I wish it was! Then I wouldn't need these 2 flashes...I only need them because it's an entry level camera and can't take pictures in low light." I have a big SLR+Zoom Gorilla Pod I plan on bringing this year with hope of wrapping it on some lighting scaffolding and recording the AoV show and hope they don't give any problem with that as I stick it to the side of my small sling bag and it's in clear view. I plan on printing out the Uni site that says tripods and monopods are allowed (if that page is still up, I found it last year) just in case. Mods might want to start another forum for "Even Photography Discussion" or something so people don't think all these replies are new pics from the event
  5. As others mentioned, the security is a breeze now....but getting into the event itself can still be a bit of a cluster. Every year with my group, ONE OF US can't get our damn finger print to work. And every time we go through the gate, we have to do the whole song and dance and have them go get a supervisor when we tell them from the beginning "Joe's finger print won't work". So annoying. They need some kind of card they give you if your finger print fails 3 quick tries in a row that says "Check ID and compare names" since your name shows up on your RoF ticket. We feel guilty every time and try to speed it up as soon as possible...like walk up to an employee just standing around the gate that looks like a supervisor and tell them in advance, but nope. Doesn't work. "Try again....try again...try one more time. Are you sure you used your pointer finger? Try your other hand. Sure you didn't use your thumb, try that. Hmmm, let me call over my supervisor." Same song and dance every night...multiply it by maybe 100 other people having the same issue each night and it's just a disaster. One year they even issued my friend a new ticket and re-scanned his finger and the very next night, STILL didn't work. After we stood around for 20 minutes in customer service for him to get it. Not to mention drunks trying to swipe their regular park tickets and stuff. They really need to find an alternative option for the finger print scanners as they suck (though MUCH better than say 3 years ago when multiple people in my group would have it happen!).
  6. Sooooo happy to hear your review of AvED as I can't wait to see that. Initial reaction from EP was that it was great, then that it sucked...and I usually seem to agree with your opinions. Nothing would make me happier to have BOTH be true, people don't care for it and it's back by itself this year so nobody goes and it has 15min lines....but it's awesome and I can do it repeatedly
  7. Until you walk through the front door of the house and a giant strobelight blasts you in they eyes and you see orange and purple spots the rest of the maze
  8. https://shop.universalorlando.com/p/HHN-Orlando-2017-Skull-Pin.html Definitely silver, it's description is "silver-tone metal"
  9. Not sure where I read/saw it, or if I heard it on the Scare Zone podcast I listened to this morning, but someone said the "Selfie Zone" has some new stuff up but mostly "IP Signs" for the IP houses featured in it. Hopefully someone else picking up their tickets who has an AP will sneak in to snap a couple pics
  10. Last year I TRIED to get into AHS before going to HHN. I only made it one episode into Murder House and about halfway through the Freakshow season....just couldn't get into it. But that didn't make me like the house any less. It was waaaay down on my anticipation list, but was by far my favorite house of the year. This year, I'm going in with absolutely ZERO knowledge of any of the seasons and hoping they knock it out of the park. For me, it's really going to be like a 5th original since I know nothing about the seasons. I'm going to go through the house the first night, then read up on the wikipedia pages / watch Youtube summaries or something for each season to understand the gist of them, then go through the next 2 nights and see what it does for my enjoyment of the house. Should be an interesting experiment (provided I'm sober enough to remember the results).
  11. Probably the generic one of them and the phone booth with nothing special. They should make a shirt of them standing by a grave with a tomb stone for Bill and Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure b.1991 - d.2017 (or whatever the actual years are) or some other kind of humor/horror mash up. Like Bill pouring one out for his dead homies and Ted and having an inquisitive stance while looking back at the time traveling telephone booth thinking they can go back.... But I wouldn't count on anything with any fan service for the event, just a B&T shirt with the HHN logo on the sleeve.
  12. Will DEFINITELY be picking up one of these for $15
  13. If you're talking about stuff like Blood Manor, Headless Horseman there's really no comparison. HHN is sooooo much better. I haven't done the Eastern State Penn or Pennhurst ones yet (but have toured both during the day), but have heard that they are great, but not not nearly as good as the HHN or even Howl O Scream. It sounds crazy to say since those take place in a real prison and mental health facility, but the houses here feel no less realistic.
  14. Not a "ride" but a live action experience. I automatically assumed TWD, but that's not a UNIVERSAL Franchise. Probably Despicable Me...doubt Bourne (that would have to be an outdoor stunt show, right?) and they don't own Bond at this point. The wording is definitely interesting. Feel bad for starting this conversation here, but ass-u-me'd it meant The Walking Dead until re-read and saw the key "Universal Franchise" part. Maybe, just maybe, it's a Mummy or Universal Monster / Dark Universe (or whatever they're calling it) show? That could be interesting. The Mummy only made $80M in North America, but over $400M world wide and should make a killing on VoD/Streaming/Blu/4K/DVD/Rental/etc. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=mummy2016.htm
  15. Not really related to HHN27 so mods feel free to move or delete....but since it was part of the speculation thread before, T2: 3D is officially closing October 8th. Terminator 2: 3-D at Universal Studios Florida will run its last shows on Sunday, Oct. 8 to make way for an all-new live action experience based on a high-energy Universal franchise. It will open in 2019. This is one of many exciting new experiences coming to Universal Orlando Resort as we continue our epic growth. http://www.slashfilm.com/terminator-2-3d-closing-at-universal-studios-florida/
  16. It was a response to a single person, but rather this conversation that is all over the boards here, elsewhere, twitter, facebook, etc whipping everybody into a panic and talking about how 4 feet of flood water won't get into the tents as they're 5 feet off the ground and that ridiculousness. A subject called "The Reality of Hurricane Irma" portends to have definitive factual/real information....but was clearly heading in the direction of speculation and about what kind of damage there might be. Wanted to put an end to this right from the start and put in some real info about the weather policy for the event for the people in other threads talking about their trips and when they're going and should then cancel, etc, etc, etc.
  17. Can we give this topic a break already? Stop taking the tragedy in Houston and trivializing it by trying to expand it to yourself in terms of your vacation. That was a once in 500 year event. Houston just had horrible flooding last year due to it's geographic location and the fact that they allow houses to be built in what is basically an old lake so that's where the worst of the flooding took place. Same with Katrina, the city of New Orleans is BELOW sea level. Orlando is different in both it's terrain, vicinity to the coast, infrastructure, etc, etc, etc. IF this were to have a perfect series of events where the hurricane stalled over Orlando for a week and dropped 50" of rain on the park nobody would give a shit about a themepark at that point! The scareactors, employees, their families, and the rest of the whole damn state will be fighting for their lives and any non-essential event like this should, and would, be cancelled indefinitely. Weather forecasters don't know where it's going, what strength it will be when it hits land, etc, etc, etc. To ask Joe Schmoe's on a forum like for their opinion is just causing misinformation and hysteria that isn't warranted. "Do they have a plan to expand the event?" Of course not. They HAVE added dates to the event in the past because of weather...but they don't have a plan for a potential storm that will potentially be a category 5 that will potentially be downgraded when it hits land before it potentially hits Orlando and potentially causes mass flooding and potentially....you get the point. Watch the weather forecasts from the PROFESSIONALS for any updates you need on the storm. As for it's potential impact on the event...nobody knows. Stop asking. Use common sense and turn on CNN and look at the current state of Houston and ask "would people drive through those streets to go to work at a thempark, or attend an event...that would be heavily damaged/flooded as well?" The only OFFICIAL info that can be given about the impact on Universal can be found here & on their official social media channels that will surely provide updates about any closing of the parks. http://www.universalorlandovacations.com/general-information/severe-weather Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations™ Severe Weather Cancellation Policy At Universal Orlando Resort, we know how important your vacation is to you and your family. And while we can guarantee an incredible vacation experience here at Universal Orlando, we unfortunately can't make any guarantees about the weather. If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area or for your place of residence no more than 7 days before your scheduled arrival date, you can call in advance to cancel or reschedule your Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations hotel accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets without any cancellation or change fees imposed. Additional elements including air, car rental or other theme park tickets are separate and not part of this policy. About Orlando Orlando is located 40 miles from the Atlantic coast, which means it is rare that our area is severely impacted by hurricanes. In fact, Orlando's inland location makes it a primary destination for coastal residents and visitors who are seeking shelter from an approaching storm. The Orlando community puts a tremendous amount of resources into planning and preparing for guest safety in the event of any emergency situation, including severe weather. Terms & Conditions: This policy is in effect for travel from June 1, 2017 through November 30, 2017. Reservations must have been booked a minimum of 7 days in advance and cancelled before 6pm the day prior to arrival. Waiver of penalties for cancellation or change applies to hotel accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets only booked through Universal Parks and Resorts Vacations. All amounts paid to Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations for accommodations and Universal Orlando theme park tickets will be applied towards a new reservation for guests wanting to reschedule vacation dates, but additional elements including air, car rental or other theme park tickets and any non-refundable payments, cancellation or change fees assessed by these elements may not be available for credit or application towards such new reservation. Availability of same accommodations cannot be guaranteed for rescheduled vacations dates. This policy does not apply to guest staying at group rates. Guests with group rates must contact their respective meeting/group planner directly for cancellation policy.
  18. #MyBrainHurts after reading this. #JustKidding #AllInFunJest #BYOB
  19. The only good voodoo movies, in my opinion, are Serpent and the Rainbow and Angel Heart. Honestly can't think of another one...but they'd have to be the top 2 regardless
  20. Interesting...but with the "old" Blumhouse name and lack of B&T my guess is it went to production when there was some Blumhouse drama holding up the works and there was some confusion as to if there even would be a Bill & Ted's this year. Makes sense. If there's no stupid blood lettering on the front, I'll buy the shirt this year. Hope they just have a logo on the breast.
  21. Someone, somewhere, mentioned they were projecting "the girl" onto the facade. My brain can't remember where I read that, and I'm not a fan of demonic movies so not even sure who said girl is. But has to be a projector....and a meaty one that. (warning - about to sound like a broken record) I hope it's an Acid Assault-ish type projection. Still love that technology in that zone
  22. Looks like they snuck the event hours onto the site. Apologize if someone already posted elsewhere, but didn't see them: 6:30PM - 1:00AM Sept. 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25, 30, 31, Nov. 3, 4 6:30PM - 2:00AM Sept. 29, 30, Oct. 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29 EDIT: Should add the link: http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando/dates.php
  23. Wednesday Fly in, pick up some groceries, and then Twin Peaks and/or Vampire Tacos Thursday Wait, what? No HHN on the 28th this year!?!?!? Head to Animal Kingdom for when they open and see if we can possibly get into Avitarland Wander around for an hour Try to leave the park, but get distracted by monkeys Leave to head to Epcot for the Food & Wine Festival when it opens at 11:00 Eat and drink too much Do Test Track Head to Magic Kingdom Do a few rides based on lines Figure out how the hell to get back to wherever our car is Head back to the resort Friday Do the parks all day Go to Finnegan's - have a couple beers Leave and run around like maniacs doing every house ASAP without express Relax with a beer at Bill & Ted's or AoV Take some time to enjoy the scare zones Hit up whatever we want to a second time with express Beer Ride the Mummy and maybe Rip Rocket depending on the line Beer Do Men in Black...just because. Go through the "weak house" another time or two due to the 15 minute wait time that is actually like 5 min Go back to the resort and pass out Saturday Get up, hang out at the pool Get to the parks whenever we feel like it Hit up Finnegan's Go do our favorite 3 or 4 houses before the crowds get too bad Have a couple beers while people watching wherever the chainsaws are Separate from the group for a bit to take some pictures of the event (I bring my "good" camera one night and don't do any rides or anything) Meet back up with them, have a beer Hit up a few more houses Visit the HHN Store More houses and zones Visit the store again and buy stuff this time Leave Our one friend INSISTED on getting a drink on the way out...so we stand at the people movers waiting for him to finish it Leave for real this time Sunday Roll out of bed whenever Start packing our stuff for the flight home Go to Miller's Ale House for Football Head to HHN Marvel at how much better the security is, you fly right through Curse about how damn long it takes you to get your ticket scanned to get in since people are idiots Do each house once with express regardless of the size of lines B&T or AoV based on which haven't seen yet Friends want to ride the Simpsons and try to drag me on, but it gives me virtual tummy so I refuse Agree to Transformers which gives me significantly less virtual tummy Sit down for a bit to get over virtual tummy Everybody is ready to leave, but our one friend insists on doing one more house clear on the other side of the park so we drag ass over there Then he insists on doing XXXXX because it was our favorite house and the line is only 30 minutes Then on the way out of the park, sees another house with a 15min wait and insists on doing it. Then, the line was really only 5 minutes so he wants to do it again...one guy goes with him, the rest of us sit at a table tired and pissed FINALLY leave Monday Get up at the crack of dawn to head to the airport for our flights home
  24. I don't think it's streaming anywhere yet....but you can purchase the first season on Bluray for like $15. Worth every penny. Second season just came out so it's a bit more expensive, but I THINK you can buy/stream it on Amazon for like $25. SPOILER ALERT for the show, but doubt it would ever make an appearance at HHN (They wouldn't even show the Titty Twister text)...but the funniest segment ever to air on TV. The infamous "Not in the butt!" scene. If you are on the fence about purchasing the show...this should instantly make you pull out your credit card and buy it It's in season 2. WARNING Nudity, Cussing, Violence, and....well.....shit. http://bloody-disgusting.com/tv/3410013/nsfw-ash-vs-evil-dead-clip-everyones-talking/
  25. Think of the poor clowns! www.darkhorizons.com/clowns-already-feeling-the-impact-of-it/ World Clown Association president Pam Moody says legitimate clowns are now preparing for the film, there’s even a press kit to help them titled ‘WCA Stand on Scary Clowns’. She tells THR: The scary clown epidemic last year had an impact on clowns as people had school shows and library shows canceled.
