With the possible exception of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining coming back at some point, anything Stephen King-related is off limits. He hates HHN, and the idea of it.

When It comes to music acts getting their own houses once per year, then it could look like this. 2023: Slipknot 2024: NIN’s The Downward Spiral 2025: Either Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden 2026: MCR’s The Black Parade 2027: Michael Jackson’s Thriller Johnny Cash should be worth mentioning, since he done a cover of a horror-themed country song called “Ghost Riders In The Sky.” It was originally done by Stan Jones.

What I’m thinking is the Exorcist will be an Orlando exclusive while Hollywood won’t be getting it again until the first sequel of the reboot trilogy comes out a few years later. I still remember back in 07 when the Thing wasn’t at Hollywood but it was at Orlando. That’s a very notable example of an exclusive IP. Though, I want Slipknot to be next in line after The Weeknd to have their own house. But if there’s one problem from happening, then it could be their recent departure from their now former label. They had a seven studio album deal with Roadrunner Records (owned by Warner Music Group), and their newest record marks as their last one under the company, so It would kinda be complex to get both WMG and Slipknot involve. If I were them, I’d pull a Metallica by starting my own label and buy the band’s catalog. That way It’d be more straightforward on the licensing deal for Universal. Got any thoughts on that?

This should be interesting; It’s making me wonder what went out so far. The reason I want the Exorcist to come back that is exactly like the one from 26 because I personally felt doing it based on the upcoming reboot would be too much of a spoiler, and it’s also too soon to tell if the sequel trilogy does well. Otherwise it’d a be ball-dropping moment for Universal, but an extra scene or two won’t hurt as a preview.

This is what the Studios looks like after Ian, and it doesn’t look like the backlot areas were flooded, which is good news. I just hope the facades of the sprung tent houses weren’t damaged by the wind.

Sounds like they could reopen the park for the event on Saturday, but you might have to wait until next week if they need some extra time to clean things up and fix all the damages. I hope all of you HNN regulars from Florida are safe from Ian.

Oh, I’m totally liking the idea of some of the IP’s being used in a Post-Apocalypse theme cause It makes me wonder what type of scenario the characters would be in while being themselves at the same time.

I love Horror Nights!” I remember last year, you thought of doing an International overall theme like if the event have its own take of Epcot’s World Showcase, and each house and zone represents each country. I actually like to see your own descriptions of my house ideas inspired by The Jungle Book that is my take of a Scary Tales type of house (India representative) and Inuyasha that revolves around Naraku (Japan Representative).

Sure you can add it if you like. I’m actually thinking about adding an extra scene with Frankenstein’s Monsters as a Kyle who attacks with a “Frankenpunch” while holding a Monster Energy can and drinks.

The description is awesome! “Bad Moon Rising” is one of the best choices for this idea, since CCR played at Woodstock. Not sure Mark would allow us to post a speculation thread this soon when the event is still going on right now, but I figured we’ll be getting four IP’s again like now and last year. My early IP predictions are….. The Exorcist: What’s the best way to celebrate the classic 1973’s 50th anniversary? By bringing it back to the event that is the same as 26 with some improvements and an extra scene or two as a preview to the upcoming reboot. Stranger Things (Seasons 4 & 5): We should be glad it’s not back yet right now cause otherwise It would be a let down quality wise. The A&D team are probably having more time to make up the expectations of Season two in order to be good as the first one or maybe exceed it. I can totally picture it as a Megahouse. Slipknot: I hope The Weeknd is the catalyst of the music based houses for HHN. With The End, So Far album coming out this month, It perfectly makes sense for Slipknot to go next, going by the original lineup that fans are familiar with the most and also as a tribute to their deceased members. Though, not as big as The Weeknd and Alice Cooper, but the beloved masked metallers from Iowa sold over 35 million copies worldwide, had three number one albums on the Billboard 200, and even won a Grammy. They’re big enough to draw a lot of crowds. Universal Monsters: We had the Frankensteins last year, and currently with Dracula, the Wolfman, and the Mummy. So, next year would be a toss up between the Creature From The Black Lagoon or Phantom Of The Opera. If 5 as an extra Wildcard Nightmare On Elm Street: It seems like the Slasher icons are being represented one at a time in recent years. Last year was Leatherface, this year is Micheal Myers, and Freddy Krueger is probably next in line for 32.

Had a good time at the Studios for the event as a one night trip in Orlando, and I’m now back at home to show you guys my overall review of HHN31. Houses Dead Man’s Pier: This is easily my house of the year! The set and layout designs were jaw-dropping, the intro scene has a really good dark ride vibe, and the telegraphed scares are excellent despite being the most silent house. It’s more than a “GOAT” - It’s a “BOAT GOAT.” Descendants: I knew this house has the best scares overall, and I knew I was right about it. But the sets and darkness were surprisingly even better than I thought, and the tilting effect inside the subway train is awesome!! Halloween: I’m pretty sure most of y’all will say “Oh, it’s Michael Myers. That guy again. Been there and done it already.” But not me cause they were lots of good scares and great pieces filled with the iconic and nostalgic score. There were a handful of weird minor choices, but really good overall. Weeknd: Finally! A good music based house in Orlando!! It has a fun party vibe and wacky visuals, and some which are probably not in his music videos but were a good fit that made me feel like I was in it. I was very impressed with the scareactors being on point both creatively and genuinely. If he paves the waves for acts to have their own houses in the future, then I wanna thank him so much greatly. Chupacabras: Though I wish the puppets were scarier and less cartoony, the sets and effects were done very well, and it’s even more enjoyable to see the people scares than the Chupacabras. Unlike some of the other puppet-driven houses such as American Werewolf In London, this one has a very limited articulation. Bugs: I downright love the aesthetic of the house at the beginning that is delivered so well. It gave me the Leave It To Cleaver vibes but in a completely different theme, and it even made me feel like I was in a B-Rated movie. The victim characters who were “eaten alive” are so freaky. I just wish the ending of this house was better so that it doesn't make me say “Oh, I guess it’s over” again with some more big bug scares. Legends Collide: Though the sets are great, and some of the scares are also great. But for a house that is super long, it seems to be dragged by a lot of guests. I’m just disappointed with the unequal balance of the monsters’ appearance that revolves around the Mummy way too much. Despite a couple of very noticeable flaws, it’s good. Blumhouse: The sets weren’t bad; it’s just weird with unimpressive mediocre scares. But at least the Black Phone scareactors did their best. It’s way too clunky for me to like it than I am supposed to, and I don’t think we need another compilation of two IP’s under the Blumhouse name when some coulda been a more full fledged house. Hellblock: The sets are repetitive, but there are a few interesting pieces. The “jail” aspect of the house works well despite my disappointment with the facade, since it sells the idea of entering a penitentiary and it’s overall the most retro house. Spirits of the Coven: This is my bottom of the barrel that disappointedly failed to meet my expectations. The entire energy felt so slow and low with too many loose scares, bad triggers, and way too confusing for a 1920’s bar with a hook and Witches making potions. Scarezones Graveyard: A beautifully dark zone with both surprisingly and interestingly excellent costumes, and the sets look even better in person too. I’m really glad that they treat the concept of this zone very seriously by both embracing the tropes and breaking the cliches of the graveyard theme. My zone of the year! Conjure: Much better than last year’s zone in the San Francisco area; the pathways in the front and behind the mind-blowing stage are easier to take pictures and walk through now. The scareactors are very ambitious when they come up to you in your face, offering the best scares than any other zone. Scarecrow: Not mind-blowing as Graveyard but it’s a fun and beautiful zone to walk through that really made me feel I was at an Abandoned Farm in a rural area. I’m mostly critical of the barn cause of the slaughterhouse vibes with the distracting lack of the trap roof. Horrors of Halloween: Though it sort of feels empty and needs some orange lighting, but It’s a better photo-op zone than CryptTV with some scareactors actually doing their own thing, and seeing the Pumpkin Lord first while walking through felt like a very welcoming introduction of the event which truly makes him an icon. Sweet Revenge: I’m actually shocked how disappointing this zone is. I wanted this to be over-the-top and downright ridiculous other than the Trick or Treaters, but its personality is so lacking and bare-bone. Shows Ghoulish!: Easily the best Lagoon show of all time. There are no IP mandates like the last two, and it felt a lot like I was watching a deleted scene from the Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s a fun and experimental show with vintage artwork. My only complaint is for not including a pyro for the ending. Nightmare Fuel Wildfire: Was expecting to see something new here and there, but it’s the same as last year that is all copying and pasting. If they’re keeping it the way it is years from now, then it’s gonna make me want them to bring back Bill and Ted. My observations at the event: The crowds were rough, but I was able to hit all the attractions, and I’m so glad they installed raised walkways for the tent queues, which is something we needed after a heavy rain. One big issue I’ve noticed that needs to be taken seriously is the trash cans always get overfilled very quickly. If they could expand the garbage staff, they could clear them out actively during the event, so it stays empty at all times.

I’ll be saying my overall thoughts about this year’s event soon. Me and one of my good friends are driving our way to Orlando, and we’ll be at HHN in the Studios for just one night only.

Last year, I was in the NY area lockdown, and drank a bottle of coke before lining up to walkthrough Texas Chain Massacre. I think some of the food booths will open before the event kicks in, but not all.

If I’m not mistaken, SS18 is nearby Hellblock and Dead Man’s Pier. But the Stay & Scream location expansion is making more sense more now for those who wanna go to their most anticipated houses first.

Got some intriguing info on the newest Stay & Scream locations: Delancey, Central Park, Richter’s/Chez Alcatraz, Soundstage 18 Pathway, and Hard Rock Gate/Minion Way. It’ll be interesting to see how much they could thin out the crowds in New York and Springfield.
