  1. It will be our first time missing in 6 years. We had all ready cancelled an earlier WDW trip to celebrate mine and my hubby's 20 year anniversary. This would have been the first time our youngest daughter was going to go with us and she was so excited!!!! Totally understand that it is the best decision, but I am taking the day to mourn for all of us who will miss it. As my husband and I always say about HHN: "It's the most wonderful time of the year." Just super sad right now. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
  2. My husband and I went two nights. I agree with others who felt it was an off year. We still had fun, but it was just not great. We went on a Friday night and it felt very understaffed which was unusual. Our Sunday night was much better. We loved House of a Thousand Corpses (we're old metal heads so kind of biased) as well as Hellbilly Deluxe scarezone. For me, scarezones can really impact the event. Walking into Anarchade was a big let down. One of the girls on stilts literally was holding onto one of the arcade machines the entire time she was out, propping herself up. And the weird Christmas light flowy things were just cheap. Zombieland was boring overall. Friday night, we weren't even sure if some of the scare actors were in fact actors or just guests as they just kind of meandered through the crowd. Vanity Ball was much better on Sunday. On Friday, they did not even have anyone on the stage. The Viking one was cool. I'm really hoping they are saving their best for next year. We hated Depths of Fear. Bloodpit was ok. Graveyard Games was probably our favorite original. Us surprised us by being one of our favorites and gave us some good jump scares, but it really depended on where you were in the line. Killer Klowns was cute, but I thought worked better as a scarezone. Ghostbusters was fun. Not my favorite, but I wasn't super excited about it to begin with. Overall, we just felt like there were too many just ok experiences and not enough great ones, if that makes sense. Excited for next year!!! Can't wait till you all start speculating so I can sit back and lurk!
  3. Just got back from my trip yesterday. Went on the 28th (So hot and crowded, but still got all houses done and most rides) and went again on the 30th (much less crowded and cooler, but still warmer than we are used to as we usually go later in the year). Overall, loved all of the houses, even the ones I had low expectations for. Scarezones were great to look at it and take photos of, but hard to get through with everyone stopping to take multiple pictures of the characters. I felt very rushed during the Halloween house as the people in front of me were practically running and I couldn't keep up with them, but the workers in the house kept motioning me to keep moving. It got annoying, but it was the only house I felt like I missed a lost because of the pace. We did have an awful worker at the food stand next to Stranger Things. All we wanted was a Powerade and it was like watching a turtle stuck on a glue trap watching her move. She was not happy to be there and was making sure everyone in the very long line knew it. Oh, well, it didn't ruin my night. One thing I wasn't happy with was the exit lines outside of I believe it was Seeds of Extinction and Trick R Treat that merged together. The ground was really uneven and we saw multiple people trip. One woman had to grab my husband to keep from falling. The next night we saw an ambulance loading a gentleman who had fallen on the walkway. That would not be a fun way to spend your evening. I did notice between Friday and Sunday, they added extra lighting, but, still, if you weren't prepared for the dips in the pavement, it still was treacherous.
  4. Portofino Bay for the first time. We've stayed Royal Pacific and Sapphire Falls before (and stayed on Disney property a few times). So excited!
  5. We're booked for the last weekend of September. Taking my step-daughter and her fiancé for their first HHN. Can't wait. Surprising them by staying at Portofino Bay (but we're telling them we're going to be at the Super 8, lol). We have one night with them, and one night just the husband and I. First time we've ever gone for two nights. I was really hoping for an upcharge house again, but realize that's not going to happen. Still holding out hope for an IT house.
  6. Any chance of a VR house like Repository? I think my husband and I were one of the few that really enjoyed it. (they picked on me incessantly through the whole thing!) We just got our BOGO tickets...we've only ever done one night at HHN. Hoping two is not overkill. Last year we went on a Saturday and vow to never do that again, due to crowds, even with the express pass. Also, will Finnegan's once again be a crazy one at a time line? We're old folks who need (and can handle) our alcohol. Finnegan's used to be our spot to get away and enjoy a drink. Last year it seemed like an attraction upon itself instead of a nice getaway for some adult time. I said this earlier, but I am still not a fan of the Stranger Things house....Just doesn't seem scary enough to me. I've never seen The Thing, so must make a plan for that in the near future.
  7. I'd drop Halloween. I feel like we've had overkill for the past few years and I would like to see something new. I mean, they were great mazes, but if I could get an amazing original in it's place I'd take it. While Cult was not my favorite season, they have done a stellar job with the mazes so I'm excited to see what they do with it. My unpopular opinion is I'm not super excited for Stranger Things. I just don't find that much scary in it even though I love the show. But, so does my 11 year old.....and that's not exactly the content I want for HHN.
