  1. Alright here is my fresh, just left Horror Nights, first draft of my house rankings list with little to no explanations yet: 1.Dead Waters: First house of the year and first scares...also the facade 2.Scarecrows: Very Scary! 3.Ash Vs Evil Dead 4.American Horror Story 5.The Fallen: Never had a great run but the set pieces were amazing and the wire work. 6.The Shining: Great run and the references this house was great 7. Blumhouse 8.Hive 9.Saw
  2. I'm sitting in my hotel room about to attend my second night of horror nights this year and wanted to give a quick review from my first night. First of all, I waited for about 4 hours for my hotel room to get ready yesterday after driving 8 hours so I was very tired and a little cranky heading into the park last night but I had a blast. We only completed 3 houses and all the scares zones but we left at like 9pm because we were so tired but I'm energized and ready to go tonight. I did not drink yesterday but there was plenty of beer and wine at the event plus lots of drunk people so that portion seemed normal to me. This is the first year for me being sober during the event and HOLY COW I had the best night I've ever had at the event. The scares were awesome and although I might have a beer or two tonight, I will not be getting drunk because the amount of details I spotted and the scares and interactions I had with scareactors was amazing! The first house we did was Dead Waters and is my favorite so far! The scares in this house was crazy with people jumping out everywhere and that facade was beautiful! Anywho I'm about to head to the archways and get night two started! I hope to see some of you there!
  3. I Live in South Carolina and have been going since 2015 for 25 and I'm hooked. I've moved things around and budgeted just to go back every year. The experience is worth it because I'm not able to go down to the parks often so I get to do a full haunt event and ride most of the attractions as a walk on so it's the best of both world for one price. Plus coming in out of state on a multi night pass let's me explore the park multiple times while I'm on vacation so I don't feel rushed through the experience!
  4. Scarezones: 1.Trick r Treat: just watched the movie and the details in the streets has me very excited for this zone! Details in the streets horror in the sheets am I rite! 2. INVASION! Come on, we've all seen the spaceship and it is glorious! 3. The Purge: I haven't watched the movies yet and I didn't experience the scare zone so I'm pretty excited to see this in action and not on a YouTube video 4. Festival of the Deadliest: So what is this zone about? 5. Altars of Horror: I'm actually excited to be able to see the details up close but wish it didn't take up a scare zone maybe like dedicated meet and greets during the event and use the scarezones for scarezones Mazes: 1.Dead Waters: Voodoo and bayou horror scares me to my core. Even if the house isn't great this will haunt me! Plus like the Voodoo Kween! 2. The Shining: This moved up my list because I just recently watched this creepy movie. I think the details and Easter eggs will be great. 3. Scarecrows: Old corn maze type vibe, I feel like this might be a sleeper hit. 4. American Horror Story: Love the show, loved the house last year, and Roanoke was a super scary season. 5.Ash Vs Evil Dead: This will move up on my list once I watch the show 6. The Fallen: Should be a beautiful house not sure how scary it will be 7. Saw: I actually love the movies and I will love the house...this could also crash and burn 8. Hive: Vampires 9. The Horrors of Blumhouse: Ok, I am excited about this house, I wish some other properties were used but again this might be a sleeper hit! *Note: I am more excited about the houses this year vs last year and this could be a very strong house year. I am also a little more excited about this year because it feels a little different like we are on the verge of major changes leading up to hhn 30.
  5. https://twitter.com/SunshineFrights/status/902650097426731015 Blumhouse is coming along fast!
  6. You make a good point! However, at that point in time HHN was mostly original content and IP's were not prevalent in the parks. Today its different. Universal saw the numbers Potter and Walking Dead was bringing in and it changed the face of the event. Change is necessary and with change comes resistance. Who knows what the event will look like in 10 or 15 years. Regardless if its IP or Original, I am going to have a great time and not worry about it because its my vacation and who has time to worry and be mad on vacation? Besides if you don't like it or feel like its not what you want, find another event and spend your time and money there and if enough people do that the event will have to change or lose money and fans.
  7. You know, I'm new to Horror Nights. I've gone every year since 25 and have already purchased and planned my trip this year. I've followed the event since 2007 but wasn't able to come down until recently and have made a decision to make it every year from now on if I'm able. Back when I first started following the event there wasn't many IP's being used. The website used to be awesome and I would check it all summer for updates and backstories. Now with that stated, I don't believe we would have Horror Nights on the scale we have today if it wasn't for IP's. We would still have the event and die hard fans but times have changed. You see it at all the parks with IP's drawing bigger crowds, such is life. Universal, Comcast, and all the different theme park companies are businesses first and have to make decisions based on the business and what makes money. I came to HHN 25 and lost my mind with how good everything was. Even the less popular houses blew me away because of how well done they were. I don't have anything on that scale where I live and appreciate the time and effort that goes into the event. It has even become a tradition to watch all the IP movies and shows before going just to spot Easter eggs and compare the details which is smart for the IP holders and Universal. I understand both sides of the argument but since Harry Potter and Walking Dead there is no turning back. Allow yourself to be fully immersed while at the event and never forget that everyone is not blessed or lucky enough to be able to attend an event this big. Some don't have the luxury to even complain about an IP house vs an Original content house. I'm not saying we should settle but I am saying don't get lost in nostalgia. There are many sides to this issue and I think it's great to have a space to share those conflicting points of view. I love the passion this event inspires and I look forward to this year and the years to come as this beast grows larger!
