  1. I guess my comment about the speculated lineup being focused on women was taken down by the moderator for some reason. You know simply mentioning that females exist isn't sexist. Either way that is clearly going to be the theme, who they are trying to appeal to if its accurate and is going to be a turnoff for the hard core fans.
  2. I'm not sure who you are either but if you go back and look at the posts you'll see her attempt to explain to me how the entire entertainment industry works, when she is probably a scare actor acting like an intellectual property attorney, certainly was condescending. Why are you fighting her battles for her anyway? She attacked me but now you have to jump in. Both you and her are proving my initial point which was that there seem to be an awful lot of posters who are bullying anyone who doesn't post something they don't like. Beat it.
  3. I don't need immediate gratification. I'm making the point that this entire thread is a waste of time if we can speculate wildly but if anyone were to get close to the answers then other posters will attempt to quash their ability to spill them. What difference does it make when the identities of the rest have been assumed for months? We have the map but we can't confirm anything? Doesnt make sense. Everyone understands that the owners of the IP might be involved but I'm sure those agreements, including announcement dates, have been worked out at this point. They wouldnt be building houses without them in place. And based upon what happened today I think it sounds as if it is an internal Universal issue if Murdy thought there was going to be an announcement but it was cancelled. It seems like quite a leap to assume that it's the IP owners holding it up and I think that shows that you don't know the industry either.
  4. I understand that the employees have to sign NDAs but someone who was rejected posted that he saw the list and couldn't post anything. Why? He didn't even get hired so why can't he say anything? My point is that this is supposed to be a speculation thread on an independent web site and all I keep reading is how we can't say anything in order to protect Universal. If that's the case then the thread should just be locked instead of having to read posts about the consequences of revealing a house, or even more ridiculous, the survey. Movies get spoiled months before they're released but we can't find out what the last house is going to be when we already know most of them? I think that's asinine. I didn't insult the scare actors but to say that most of them aren't teenagers is naive and, I would say, somewhat delusional if you've ever been to a Halloween event anywhere. And we all know that the decision to release the info is Universal's so we don't need your condescending explanation of the entertainment industry.
  5. I haven't been on this site very long but this is bizarre. Is this really what it's like on here every year? This is supposedly a thread speculating about what will appear at the event and we are so late in the process that there are posters who actually know because they are either insiders or who have auditioned and no one will say definitively what the line up is and other posters are admonishing them not to? We've been looking at that 'official' map that gets changed every two weeks and reading meaningless teaser tweets for months and we aren't allowed to hear what the last house will be for some reason? Why? Universal clearly doesn't care who knows since they're apparently showing the names to every unemployed 19 year old in Florida and California who applies for a temp job and, from what I've gathered, half of the mazes every year are just disappointing retreads anyway so what is the big deal? I thought we knew most of them already so why can't we hear the last few? Ridiculous.
  6. Again, I'm not aware of any past negotiations about using King's IP or how contentious they might have been but everyone keeps saying we'll never get a house based on anything he wrote and are using the cryptic response from Murdy as the proof. But isn't that a little contradictory? It's happening as 'The Shining' was announced. Apparently somehow it was approved and no matter how little he liked the movie I don't think you can use the name 'The Shining', no matter what the content, without some sort of approval from the owner of the source material. Either way, none of this explains why they couldn't have created a house based on it before now if they wanted to as has been stated in this thread. They would have just done it. Something must have been stopping them that has changed and I think that it makes sense that it's probably approval from King because of the upcoming movies.
  7. I doubt he abandoned the rights to the Shining. How would he have authorized the mini series then? He didn't like the adaptations of most of his books but I'm sure he didn't abandon them all. Lucas didn't like Empire but that doesnt mean he didn't still control the source material. Everyone keeps saying he doesn't want any of his IP at these events except that we know it's happening with the Shining. I understand he didn't like what Kubrick did with it but if he finally said ok to it you couldn't create a house based upon the Tim Daly mini series. People would lose their minds. It would have to be Jack.
  8. I don't think that would matter. From what I've read in this thread previously the reason they couldn't create houses based on his IP was that he wouldn't sign off on it. If they didn't need his approval then they would've went over his head and created them years ago. I think he still has ultimate say no matter who may have produced a movie. My point is that it makes a lot of sense to create buzz by doing an 'IT' based house when he has two movies based on his materials opening in the next two months. If he was ever going to allow it now would be the time and apparently he has okayed the Shining so maybe they've all been okayed.
  9. Is any of that proven or just speculation? Why would they have to wait until the second movie comes out? They didnt wait until the entire AHS series was completed to create a house on it. And if it was based on It then the house would be based on the upcoming movie as well so why is that any different than basing the Shining on the movie and not the book. If he gave them approval for one why would he not for any of the others? The issue was that he had said no in the past but that has apparently changed and possibly because of the release of 'It'.
  10. I just signed up after following this thread for a few weeks and wanted to ask how did we get to the point where we believe the replacement house is vampire clowns? Is it because of the Vamp '74 rumor? After reading here about Universals' tendency to create houses based upon intellectual property that has a current tie in such as a new movie or show has anyone thought that maybe it's not going to be vampire clowns but 'It'? The movie opens in September, it's confirmed that they've gotten approval to use at least some of King's IP, It's a clown obviously, an abandoned house which seems to agree with the rumors about the facade and the last line of that recent teaser tweet posted actually ends with '...it will show.'
