I'm still going to wait for Rotten Tomatoes score
I would not go strictly by the RT score. I can almost guarantee it will at least be below 50%.
RT is always pretty rough on horror movies, and especially sequels.

A guy at a casino table that they know is going to be throwing around a lot of money..... thats the only definition I know. What do they use it for?
And who are those guys and what are their roles? Im gonna listen in a bit.
"White whale" is originated from Moby Dick.
Captain Ahab spent his entire life chasing down Moby Dick (literally a white whale), and was ready to sacrifice pretty much anything to finally kill the beast.
It basically means something you've been trying to chase down for a long time. IE: The IP rights to The Shinning.

How do you say you have no desire to go into a house? I mean Ive have gone through houses ONCE bc they sucked (3 of them). But you arent even curious about those? Might surprise you!
Especially since AHS was done so well last year. I'm not a huge fan of the show either, but I can appreciate good production value.

there should be no reason to delay that either way
One would think that...unless of course they promised their IP holders that they would get announced before any original houses...

I almost hate to bring this up. But, does anyone want to take bets on whether that counter will either get reset at some point, OR when it hits zero nothing will actually happen.
I'm thinking it's a possibility since they obviously had one plan, but with one or two (possibly more) announcements getting delayed, that may have gone out the window.

To be fair, it still got to over 20,000 which I honestly didn't expect. Thought it would stay around 13-15000
You know what would get it going again? Something new to tweet other than that same old "your soul is requested" one

The second one was last year in Chance's zone. It was a dead night and as I was walking through, one of her minions asked if I wanted to play. I said "sure" just to see what would happen. The minion yelled "I GOT ONE SHE WANTS TO PLAY" and ALL of the minions ran over. They decided we should play "monarch" and when assigning roles, one of them turned to me and said "You can be Marie Antionette. You remember what happened to her, right?" And before I could respond, another one lunged at me with a knife and got inches away from my throat.
I know some people really hated that zone last year, but they really had some of the VIP actors, and they seemed to be having a blast.

A special version of Horror Make-up Show that only runs during HHN
So surprised they haven't done something like this yet.

So they're claiming something happens at 25k?
It's got to be the 'rewards' on the site, and I REALLY hope it has no bearing on what gets announced because holy shitballs, does that veer into seriously ridiculous pyramid scheme type territory.
I think it's just the next "milestone" in the hopes that something might happen. Realistically, it's probably something to do while there's no news

The "soul counter" has reached 20,000! It didn't actually do anything.

Trick R Treat.
Except that the year is a bit off. It was made in 2007, and was released on home video October 2009...

I think the lack of information is a combination of issues with the IPs and the leak that happened earlier this season.
Also, I will be at HHN the first weekend in October! Anyone else planning on going then?
We'll be there October 1, 4, and 5th.

Sometimes people complain FOR the voodoo priestesses, and they discontinue her mini-show.

since there's not much else to talk about, I'm posing a question. Name any house original or IP that would piss you off the most if Orlando were to announce it today.
Mine would probably be either a Slenderman house or Lunatics Playground 2: Now with extra 3D
Besides The Walking Dead again? Five Nights at Freddie's. I DO NOT understand the appeal of that franchise.

Has anyone talked about BH new movie 'Happy Death Day' coming out this year? It seems they're backing the movie with heavy distribution and advertising thinking it'll be the next 'Get Out' (#4 grossing horror movie @ $175M per IMDB)... maybe that could be in the BH house?! I wouldn't be opposed to it
That movie looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Groundhog's day slasher flick? Yes, please!
It's also coming out on Friday, October 13th. I wouldn't doubt it if they at least did some sort of special appearance that night. That baby mask guy is pretty chilling.

Well the 2 biggest current IPs from Blumhouse are The Purge and Insidious. Now with The Purge having it's own scarezone just down the street I think it's safe to say the Blumhouse character would probably be from Insidious or maybe Sinister if they want to mix it up.
Or Kevin from Split

I wouldn't watch the show - just do the house so you don't know what to expect first.
That's a pretty good idea. Maybe watch the first episode or two of season 1 to understand who the characters are. But, some of the gags might actually get ruined for you if they focus on the comedy aspects.

Not to derail too much, but Disney Springs has a poutine stand, and they have a breakfast one with an egg, tater tots instead of fries, and sausage gravy instead of the standard brown. It's phenomenal.

Looks like they're listing the top 10 they WANT to have at HHN, which is weird because I thought twisted taters were already there.
That makes me feel better. If I missed out the chance to mix fries, gravy, cheese curds, and horror together? I would never forgive myself.

It's not much, but the 'ENTER' button on the Soul Collectors' intro page is now different on my computer. Before it was just text in a box, now it is a graphic with the newer event font. And some flowers.
No new things on the actual Soul Collector page with the locked rewards though.
Interesting. My button actually has four bone fragments on the top and bottom

And how well does tone translate to recreating material for a house?
Tone is everything man!
The Evil Dead house this year will probably end up being much more of a campy comedy house than the one from HHN23. That film had a much more serious tone. It got a little campy at the end, but nothing compared to Raimi's films.
Think about the Nightmare on Elm Street sequels vs. the remake from a few years ago.
Those sequels feel nothing like the remake. Sure, they still have a disfigured guy with a knife glove, but they are completely different movies.
Sure, all steaks come from a cow, but it all depends on how you cook them.

Everything is different??? An evil book, an incantation, attacking vines, demonic possession, an inability to escape the cabin in the woods. If you take out the subplot about her being an addict and a few things here and there, the movies (Evil Dead 1) are basically the same. There is a reason why they called the 2013 version Evil Dead. It's a damn reboot.
The tone is almost a complete 180 from the original two though. That's why it's completely different.

Any one else get the survey from Uni? The ultra secret one where you have to promise not to tell??? All about horror and such!!!!
IDK what you're referring to, and wouldn't be able to discuss it if I did.
Theoretically though, maybe the survey would include several interesting properties that I wouldn't think would even be under consideration for HHN.
Also, I think there might have been one on the first big list that wasn't in any of the other lists...uh...theoretically of course

Actually it's 1982 to 2004 according to the chart from the New York Times
Thank God I am not even close to that category - I'm in the cool, yet cynical Gen X group.
Actually, there's a new generational term that's popping up.
Xennials are the crossover generation that fall between 1977 and 1983. The real marker is technology. That group (which I'm included in) grew up in an analogue world, but the technology boom started to mature as they did.

One other thing I picked up on is the mention of wanting to do a "Hades or Gothic" type maze again with giant monsters coming from all around you. Might be a reference to whatever Gothicombs is.
