  1. Hello everyone, its late May, aka "time to resurface from hibernation". Now I have not read this entire thread (I will, I will) but I noticed something mystique said and I thought I'd make amends with a rumor.

(Now dont get upset if this has been pointed out already) But apparently a permit has been signed, on May 18. Now, I got this information from HHNrumors and I have no idea how reliable they are. (since the Vault vanished it seems like everyone and their mother has a hhn fansite)

    Source: http://hhnrumors.com/?a=27

I know I'm a pain for taking so long to reply and for looking into things too far, but....

Why is Universal all of a sudden pulling permits for construction through Orange County instead of the City of Orlando like they always have?

Why is there not a Permit or Parcel number on that permit?

Why can't I pull up a single permit through Orange County for any of Universal's parcels except for one permit from 2003?

Regarding the statute that was renewed last year, the one which pertains to theme parks...If memory serves me correctly, it was already in place and just renewed. It prevented blueprints from becoming public record due to trade secrets, but it did not prevent permits from being public record. Also we can see permits on the City of Orlando that have been pulled this year, so we know Uni still goes through the City of Orlando.

EDIT: I'm also bothered by the Notary checking the spot Personally Known, but that me be my dealings with notary issues. I deal with them a lot in my line of work and I rarely see that anymore.

  2. I have been gone for awhile (my daughter had to have surgery so I've had other things on my mind) so I just skimmed the thread.

I'm very worried by the fact that we have yet to see permits pulled for construction, but we are receiving rumors that construction has begun.

I can see 3 reasons for this...

    1) The construction is being done in a prefab way. They are building things offsite so we have no need for permits right now.

    2) Universal has managed to find some way to make permits nonpublic record.

    3) We should look farther into the permits listed with the prefix SCN. I was the original source for the permit for Creatures that HHNRumors mentioned a couple of months back. It is thought that SCN implies the permits have been scanned, but it is a good idea to keep in mind that Uni may try to fly things under the radar. I researched permit codes and the only definition for SCN I could find was Special Change Notification. We may want to watch which previous permits get the SCN treatment. All that is needed for a permit is blueprints, which is a basic layout. You can tweak interior decoration all you want, the layout is all that is required for the permit.

I'm really not sure which theory I feel is more likely. Maybe the prefab? As it makes the most sense. Sunshine laws makes it difficult to deem things nonpublic records, and scanning seems to make the most sense for the SCN permits.

  3. Hmmmm...all this talk about trees has me flashing back to The Wizard of Oz scarezone from a couple years ago, and how it was missing the important element of living trees, something that scared the living bejabbers out of me when I was a child. Imagine a path through a grove of gnarled trees which, when you walk between them, lean over and attempt to grab you with their branches.

It's a time-honored scare, I don't recall it being done at HHN before (although I believe I have seen it at Netherworld), and I'm sure Universal could scare up (heh) a few tree costumes.

As far as permits and codenames go, chill out ya'll. We'll know when we know...and I've said this before, but it bears repeating: the last couple of years of HHN have, structure-wise if not subject matter-wise, followed much the same pattern. I expect this year to be much like HHN 18 and 19...only hopefully bigger.

    Oh and...I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

    Crap I'm double posting.

B...I can understand your thought process on the trees, but.....

I'm probably at least a decade younger than you. If they are playing to mass appeal (which SAW proved they thought of) by the time the trees became semi prevalent to the masses, they were humorous, not frightening in the least.

    Really, bucket lunches?

  4. I looked earlier today and didn't see anything. I also can not look up with Mozilla... ever.

However I DID try just now and found nothing... typically, "Halloween Horror Nights" followed by the number, a few years it was hhn... Halloween usually brings up horror nights... but I found nothing.

On a slightly related note, I finished my concept tree for the gate... Having trouble with the details..

    What do you guys think?

I always do a parcel search on Uni. It brings up all of their permits. When I tried it about 45 minutes ago, none of the parcels would pull up. I go a message that said we cannot process your request at this time.

It could be that my internet is acting up or that Orlando Permits are updating. I will try again.

EDIT: Apparently it was the site or my internet connection. No new Permits. But, I have a hubby who works in construction (Florida construction), so if Uni is going to start building by next Thursday...going by the 3 week idea...then we need to see a permit by this week or tuesday of next week atleast.

If they leave us clues so be it...if not it's back to last years HHN 19 well HHN 20 permit pulls

  5. It may be my internet connection, but I haven't had a problem until now.

I am receiving an error message when attempting to look up permits for universal.

I do a parcel search. I have tried IE and Mozilla. Look for permits tomorrow or later tonight.

  6. Because I'm OCD and I feel the need to entertain the masses.

Ms. Weiner claims Universal paid her for licensing in 08. If Uni did, it was a grand mistake upon Uni's part.

That is the link to the suspension notice.

As of July 29, 08 until January 29, 2010 of this year the application for the trademark was suspeneded.

  7. I as well, how can you know no anything, its not like he can pull a website out of his ass like that. It takes alot of time to do a website.

Because of things I have read from another community, it does not surprise me that Ray isn't in the know yet. If history repeats itself, he wouldn't start work on the website till late May or early June. The teaser/clue site doesn't go up until July usually with a full site launch at the end of August.

As for the "arts & crafts" house, we may want to think about scrapbooking.

  8. I dont think they are claiming copyrights on the myth so much as the specific look and name of Mary Agana.

Actually it's neither the myth or the character Uni created. The trademark application is for the name Bloody Mary specifically being used at haunted house attractions. But it's only an application right now, not a registered trademark.

  9. Unless someone can explain to me how a person can claim a trademark that does not exist, I am going to have to insist that Mary will be making an appearance if is there is a reunion.

The trademark has never been registered and didn't even reach the half way point until March 2010.

Someone please explain to me if Uni seriously messed up this much. I never saw a copyright for Mary on Uni's site and the only person who claims she was paid is the person attempting to make money off of this.

  10. Silver Screams/Screen

    Leave it to Cleaver

    The Spawning

    Army of Darkness

    Cirque De Freak

Will Frankenstein and Dracula have there own house, or be part of Silver Screams? If so, that leaves the 5 above names to all be possible houses. If they get there own house, then what 3 out of the above will we see? Could some be Scare Zones? If I had to choose 3 of the above, I'd go with Leave it to Cleaver, The Spawning and Silver Screams (if its an ANDI style house).

Since some of the proposed names could be scarezones, I must say I hope Cirque Du Freak is a zone. I believe that it would be very much like Midway of the Bizarre.

  11. that particular 3d model in the video is from Scary Tales actually.... everything in that video was from 18.

not saying it hasnt been used before....

Thanks! I knew I had seen it somewhere I just couldn't think of where. All I could think of was the video.

Dr. Jimmy, if I remember correctly, the pictures of The Hallow entrance were taken from the Simpson Ride area last year. That would mean this is Sprung Tent 1.

Rach, Frankenstein does make sense with the codename Geppetto, but I think I will have to wait for future pictures before I commit myself to a theory. I could see that arch being turned into a factory door or even being an entrance to a military academy since Childs Play 3 (I think 3) took place in a military academy.

  12. The picture of the facade for the sprung tent made me think of last year's second teaser video.

Check it out and tell me what you guys think. At 0.05 to 0.07.

EDIT: It really could be just me but the shape of the archway seems almost identical.

  13. I've been rereading this thread and I must say I have a problem with one of the houses on the list. Cirque Du Freak seems extremely out of place.

First, I must agree with TJ229ER on the fact that it is not really well known.

Second, it's target audience doesn't seem to be those of HHN age (I could be wrong on this I have never read the books)

Lastly, why would we have 2 vampires houses in the same year?

I think the art work seems rather rough, but the only form I have seen it in has been posted on here. A bigger picture would be needed before I formed an opinion on it. The tagline is interesting. It makes me think the usher character is nothing more than a way to advertise. It is rather cliche, but some of the past taglines have been cliche. I think I will have to ponder it some more.

  14. Sorry but KING would be awesome.

    *fangirl squeal*

We got Once Upon a Nightmare last year, and Saw is most likely going to be a house this year. Could we see a Night of the Living Dead with Saw this year?

It's been mentioned other places, and I must say I agree with it. A Night of the Living Dead scarezone would be awesome. A zone that actually portrayed the origins of today's zombies would be great. Put it in Central Park. Make them mind numbingly slow, with the groans to go along with it. To touch upon that part of horror history would be a beautiful thing to me.

  15. I have a quick question. Does anyone here know how NickC's site works?

The reason I ask is I noticed something on the 91 video that seems to really stick out, but it is also on the 06 site that Nick saved. If you watch the 91 video, a still picture of Frankenstein kinda slides into and out of frame. It really doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the video. It is on both the new site and Nick's site though, so I'm just not sure of what to make of it. Does the site that Nick saves remain as it was, or can things (like videos) change on his site if the official site changes them?

Pardon my computer illerteracy, but thank you to anyone who can answer.

  16. Sylvia, check out the LT thread from last year on the vault. TJ told me I had basically guessed everything right and that it had nothing to do with this years event. They just wanted to see how far we would research clues. They didn't count on people would were already into the paramoral and knew of the cases the referenced.

  17. I really wish I had the free time I had last year. Halloween Ball sounds amazing. Child to take trick or treating makes it impossible.

I have spotty interent access right now but make sure you post any inconsistencies on here. I have the ability to spot connections and patterns.

I may not spot them myself but I can make them fit together.

  18. This year did seem to have a good balance. I would have liked to have more members to the CDT and seen Sting Alley used, but other than that this year was good.

It's really hard for me to picture twelve distinct scarezones. I just can't imagine where they would put them all. I could see them possibly adding something to Amity and making it it's own zone, and there is that area between Mel's and NY near the lagoon. So that would take us to 11, but I'm not sure if those areas could be used.

How packed was Amity during all the LT stuff this year? If they were able to function with a large group of CFO's in the area, maybe we could see another scarezone there.

I like the number of houses this year. The only way I could see more houses next year is if they used the Herc/Xena building or added another house to the soundstages. I know they were working on the Herc/Xena building earlier this year, but I have no idea how far they have come on getting it up to code.

So am I missing anything when it comes to places for more houses and zones or is my memory working right? I rememberd trying to figure out where they would put everything and how they would staff it when I did that survey.

  19. My first year was '98. I was 18 and it was my first trip without my parents. I went with my hubby-to-be (we've been together forever), my friend and her boyfriend. The things that stick out for me are:

The streets - they seemed packed with scareactors. This year seemed to bring back that first feeling I had.

The CDT - They are what made me addicted. Watching them heard the crowds and clear the streets for the parade was a very beautiful site.

The Parade - Loved it!!!! Miss it!!!! Want it to come back.

The Midway - My first scarezone, my favorite scarezone. The atmospere was perfect. The scareactors were on their game. You could barely see the hand in front of your face. Shaker cans!!!

Scrapers - The scrapers some scareactors had are something I still miss. They always make me jump.

I only went through one house cause the other people I was with wouldn't go into them. It wascFrightantic and the level of detail to it absolutely amazed me. By the end of that night after watching one of the more cheesy (no I don't remember which one) I was hooked.

  20. The only icon they had before 2000 was the Crypt Keeper. There really wasn't any icons till Jack.

When I think classic my mind wanders off in far too many directions. Is it classic movies? Sci-Fi? Horror? Is it cult classics? Is it classic Halloween? Classic fears?

I'm going to be pulling for Stephen King till further info comes out. I can't help it. I'm addicted to his works and was far too excited at the possibility of him being involved this year. So yep, until further notice, I'm going with the master of horror himself. For me that would be classic.
