  1. 2+2=4. 5 on the days I'm feeling contrary and mischievous. The Screamscape piece on TWD is an opinion that I agree with. Last year's house felt like a send off. The rest is speculation (some of it already mentioned here). The Purge? Isn't the third movie coming out in 2016? Wouldn't that be a more apropos time to have a house? Krampus...we've been speculating on it since Hollywood's scarezone as announced. 31...Wasn't there an issue between Zombie and Uni? And isn't Zombie doing his own haunts now? AHS, we've wanted for awhile. (By we, I mean fans have been asking for it). They'd have to get all their ducks in a row, though and come to an agreement.
  2. I don't mind new big names or the return of some of the big names we haven't seen in a few years (I'd be a happy little fangirl if Alien came back in some form too!). I understand and accept the business, but when it comes to TWD, the business side isn't making as much sense now. After 3 yrs at the event, they (Uni) have most likely grabbed the one-and-doners, the diehard TWD fans may repeat, but how do you keep refreshing and making it new? They did the first house with the "OMG!! We have a walking dead house". The whole event is TWD has been done. The hook of "Biggest house ever!" has now been done. How do they get those who will say "Oh! TWD again? I did that already! No need to go". If (I refuse to say when) we get TWD this year, what will be the hook, the gimmick? Laser tag? Extreme house? Will it be an up-charge house? How do you bring back those crowds who came for TWD? Has the event sold itself well enough to turn the TWD fans into HHN fans? I don't know if it has. And even if it has, will just a TWD house (without some gimmick/hook) be enough to pull the crowds back in?
  3. I've been watching the permit site, not for HHN stuff, but for the other rumors and tidbits that may be coming to Universal. I have found a few (6 to be exact) that I find interesting, and may be relevant to HHN. 6 new antennas and arrays are going up for wireless. With the use of wireless technology at HHN last year (The Compound and Legendary Truth), I find the locations interesting. They are: Entrance, Magic Shop, Kwik-E-Mart, Fear Factor, Candy Shop (I'm thinking this is the one next to Bruce not near the entrance), and Monster's Cafe. While the spacing seems "normal" (it covers a decent amount of the park), I can't help noticing it covers traditional SZ locations, as well.
  4. I posted screenshots of the one prior to this one, too. (The one with ghostbusters on it.) I, also, haven't received any surveys since. Except for a confidential one that was not HHN related and I was unable to complete it due to mobile issues.
  5. I've heard about it, too. Apparently, it is very convoluted with many ticketing options. I have heard that the survey has a confidentiality clause. We may not get screenshots.
  6. I would enjoy a cryptids house as well. I'm not sure which cryptid I'd want to see more though. I also wouldn't want it limited to traditional cryptids. I'd want the Mothman and Jersey Devil, too.
  7. The simplest answer as to why I believe it's a Muscovy duck is: I see them all the time. They are the duck I grew up around. They are very plentiful in my area. The red skin around the eye orbit tends to be a give away as well. The more complicated answer. They are ducks because they are quacks in a bush. I'm leaning more toward cryptids for the big cats that Dr. Jimmy posted. We did have a rumored cryptid house in 2012. The loss of SS44 seems to have caused us to lose that house. Cryptids are animals who's existence has been suggested, but not proven. There are cryptids that have been proven to exist. The giant squid, the devil bird, and the okapi are examples of animals that were initially considered "myths/folklore". Modern cryptids would be El Chupacabra, Sasquatch, Nessie, and the Beast of Darmoor.
  8. They are ducks not geese. A mother duck with her ducklings in a bush. I believe it is a Muscovy duck. We have them here in FL.
  9. Eck! Speak not of the dastardly price raises. I'm already slowly hoarding coins. A small monkey wrench to throw into my previous observations. I was excluding Hitchcock from the British "theming" I saw in the Doctor's tumblr pics due to my own speculative thoughts. Hitchcock was in fact British. I separated him solely out of my desire for a Hitchcock house, and wanting those clues to point to that.
  10. That's been the one thing I've noticed. I've tried to find the twists, but so far I've been unsuccessful. Stonehenge Cat is a British cryptid. There's the Beast of Darmoor that's another Brithish Cryptid. I don't believe he has that one pictured. They are both Big Cats. Lots of countrysides and forests. A ton of whovian references. Four British novels that reference anthropomorphic animals. Mr. Badger is from either The Wind in the Willows or Toad Hall (can't remember which). Interestingly enough, A.A. Milne did the screen adaption of The Wind in the Willows. Milne is, of course, the author of Winnie the Pooh. And Paddington hanging out with the cenobites. The Northhampton Clown is pictured several times. There's the Plague Doctors on the London Underground. Tons of Potter. Potter/Whovian mixed together. Queen Elizabeth and her Silver Jubilee. I believe a werewolf from the Howling. Tons of Hammer references. Jack the Ripper... But, with that one commonality (British), I wonder what one thing the Good Doctor is trying to tell us.
  11. I missed the latter ones. This is the only one I had seen. http://drjimmyandbob.tumblr.com/post/108670398747 But...All of the posts Dr. Jimmy has made have one thing in common, excluding the Hitchcock posts, but including the Hellraiser posts. There is one theme, commonality, they all share something.
  12. In this instance, I would say whatever it is, the music will likely not be what pulls in the public. This is probably an IP that won't need a music headliner. Murdy is a tricky fellow. He used Beauty is Skin deep as code name and Avon as hint for AVP last year. I need to recheck Doc's tumblr, but I believe there is only one Hellraiser reference, and I don't believe Hellraiser is the important part of that particular picture.
  13. The house isn't necessarily music based. The theme to the maze can be found in a song title doesn't mean the maze is music based. In my opinion, Murdy's use of a music genre and a song title suggests this isn't a music based house. The current leading theories on the Hollywood side of the forums are AHS and Insidious.
  14. The pre-80's horror was a follow-up question to Mike's "go to horror movie". So, I think he meant movies, although I made a memorable tweet regarding my preferred method of horror being novels prior to the pre-80's question. (It was memorable because my app kept having an identity crisis. It changed my acct once then randomly mentioned others. I had to delete twice.) As for Mr. Murdy's hints: The codename is Post-Punk. The hint to the theme of the maze can be found in the title of a song from a band that was initially a part of the post punk movement. Hints to the song and band are: 1 Murdy shares one of his names with a key member of the band. (Murdy has 4 names) 2 A word in the title of the song is something modern technology has killed. 3 The song is obscure and was released as a single. 1 of the 3 hints may be a red herring. ^that's not verbatim. For Murdy's full words check out the Hollywood codename cheat sheet thread. This, of course, may or may not be relevant to Orlando's event. It all depends on if we share properties this year and if the above maze is a shared property.
  15. I know the meanings behind two of his posts!!! This one: http://drjimmyandbob.tumblr.com/image/108861211942 And this one: http://drjimmyandbob.tumblr.com/post/108854022902 ^They were chosen to get my attention. Or for me, I suppose.
  16. So many great ideas! There hasn't been an evil painter or painting. I agree with Jeramy. We need a formula change. Something I found effective and disorienting was the delayed strobe they used in part of NOES. Complete darkness for what felt like a minute (but was probably no more than 10/15 seconds) then a bright flash of light for the same time period. Your eyes couldn't adjust and you had just enough time to pick out your "path" before it was dark again. The Deja-Vu house sounds great. Bugs. Eck!!! But a good eck. I hate bugs. I remember the room in The Mummy house that was the Scarab room. To hear them crawling around in low light while something "popped underneath your feet. I think they used styrofoam popcorn or something similar to it, but it was effective.
  17. The Myrtles' Plantation (or a house inspired by it) opens many doors. The plantation has seen many legends unnofficially attached to it. From connections to Madame LaLaurie to Marie Laveau. "Official" legends attribute the hauntings to the murder of the Woodruffs (Sarah and her two daughters), the mirror not being properly covered during wakes, and voodoo practices. A Bayou of Blood sequel as a house loosely based upon Myrtles would be intriguing.
  18. There were no mirrors tricks in Reflections of Fear. It was one of the house's biggest failure. The closest we came was the office two way mirror, I believe. Freddy had a fantastic mirror maze in 07. There are many myths and legends (beyond Mary) that could be used as a base for a concept. Oculus plays off of a real cursed mirror story (I believe). While not based on, the idea most likely stems from cursed mirror stories. I'll see if I can find one of the legends. Myrtles Plantation has a "haunted" mirror. I can't seem to find the one which was linked to deaths that I vaguely remember reading about years ago. I'll keep looking.
  19. Evil animatronics? I would see that (the implementation) as being similar to Horror in Wax, but more "steampunk" for lack of a better term.
  20. NLC would pitch a fit. Unless whoever owns the rights (is it NLC still?) changes the original contractual approach (which they could), Freddy, Leatherface, and Jason won't be in a house together. One of the big caveats to UO's 07 usage was that the Big Three could never be seen together. I don't know if that would still be a caveat, but it is something we need to remember. I think of past houses, and there are many I loved and would love to see again, but beyond the new "franchises", I don't see any potential sequels. Catacombs and Nightengales. They would be the most plausible. Gothic could have a spiritual successor, but not a straight sequel. Frightanic? Maybe. ST, BC, Scarepy? Scarepy could move to the streets (although that franchise seems to have "finished"). ST and BC have both "done it all". They've been houses and while a street has never been named ST, 3 of 08's streets were definitely ST related. Run? The Hitchcock idea can link us to the past. Psycho has seen several iterations. A Hitchcock medley could give us that link to the past with some new gems thrown in. I'm too mercurial to definitively state what I'd want to see. I love the past, but want the new.
  21. I'd have to review the good-bye/end of year video again, but the suggestion of Jack being linked to GnG makes sense. If memory serves, the weasel started to pop during clips of Halloween (specifically the young Myers as a clown room), and all of the subsequent clips are of GnG. The house wouldn't need to come back in any form for Jack's "official" storyline to go something like this: The clowns (management?) of GnG accidentally/on purpose recreated Jack and summoned his souls from the Lantern. Continuity be damned? Or is it enough to work? Few (except for those of us who truly crave in-depth storylines) would need more than that. LT would be an acceptable addition. Fell or Himmel still had the lantern and supplied it to the clowns or maybe the elusive management was indeed Himmel and/or Fell...we know Himmel is still "around" according to Paige Steerington's recorded phone conversation. The LT experience pointed to the events of 2010 (that LT storyline). It is "unfinished", and we are being directed by Thorncastle to look into Steerington's death. (For justice/revenge?). We know Jack will make some kind of appearance next year unless marketingng has truly lost their mind. You don't "hint" toward the return of the "most beloved icon ever!!", then decide "Nah, we aren't bringing him back." (It was not a hint. If they had just played "Pop Goes the Weasel" and maybe his laugh it would have been more of a hint and not a blatant "look who's coming back")
  22. I always end up asking myself how when I read "make the event scary again". Partially due to my concept of scary and partially due to the limitations the popularity of the event have created. What would make the event scary again? What limits need to be pushed? What, specifically, would add to the scare factor. I'm addressing this to everyone. Not just Charles. What do you think needs to be added/removed/created/done to make the event scary again? My fear/scare factor relies on sound, smell, theming, elements of the unknown. This is why I usually prefer original concepts over IPs. I need the element of surprise. Not knowing what will come next. I have also been going to the event for 15 years. I've become desensitized to many scare techniques. I also prefer supernatural and suspenseful horror over gore and violence horror. Gore doesn't frighten me. Violence, while disturbing when portrayed, is one of the elements I find it harder to suspend disbelief. My one wish will always be line pulsing. This would, for me, make the event scary again. Thoughts? Opinions?
  23. Since many responded to this: I believe what Mrevio is suggesting that instead of DM, open either T2 or HMU. My only opinion on this would be; open whichever attraction is the biggest people eater.
