hahahahaha this was awful.
Seriously, I don't get it. Is the Avatar joke still funny after all this time? Is the writer just bitter about getting fired from Disney? Are we supposed to laugh because Kim Kardashian appears for literally five seconds just so they can do a "Hey, it's Kim Kardashian!" joke before she disappears with absolutely no explanation? Why does Abraham Lincoln engage in a poorly choreographed parody of a fighting game against John Wilkes Booth? Was the writer really so tasteless as to have the ghost of Muhammad Ali fight the Ghostbusters?
Is this supposed to be the incredibly popular comedy show that's spent 25 years packing theatres and having superfans sit in the front row to high-five the actors?
it does baffle me that year after year this show gets worse and worse. i never understood why it gets so much love. i know it is tradition but the jokes are not even jokes sometimes,

they have the crabwalk on the stairs in the exorsist house. they didnt do it on the stair well but its juts a hole in the wall. i expected a stair well like the one in texas chainsaw
i remember seeing a backwards girl prop

why cant all houses be like the In Between? those 3D effects were actually amazing, the first room is one of my favorite 3D rooms, it felt real 3D instead of just having painted walls .

I'm pretty disappointed that the roaming hordes all are chainsaw-based. That ruins the theming of most of them and honestly I'm sad that Uni felt the need to stick chainsaws on everything. Scarecrows and geishas with chainsaws? Come on. They were so close to making the hordes really special this year.
1 hour ago, Oysterhead00 said:Well, they kinda don't have many choices for roaming hoards since they don't have any props to hide behind or heavy fog to surprise you from. A few years ago when they had the guys with the "bang cane" things, they were still too little of a noise to really scare you even when they snuck up on you. They really need something as loud and sudden as the chainsaws to startle you. Can't think of any thing that a scarecrow would legitimately have access to that could pull that off (yes, a shotgun for the scare crows...but we all know that wasn't an option for this year).
Would be cool for them to have some kind of system where the scareactors had speakers "hidden" in their costumes and a way to trigger a LOUD sound for their scares. But the logistics of constantly charging, wiring, rain issues, etc, etc, etc limits it to having to be something like a chainsaw that just needs gas every few hours.
the cheerleaders actually remind people of the game lollipop chainsaw so they make sense in a way.
the cheerleaders with chainsaws make more sense than the Geishas. and their unniforms say HHN so they are pretty cool. i have seen people on facebook like them alot. they are getting some praise (more than the other hordes)
I also wonder since two hordes are actresses i wonder if they gave them chainsaws so that people wont mess with them (since there was so much trouble with actresses getting harassed.)
I know all zones have actresses but these hordes kind of stand out more since they are not surrounded by props

Quick question, do any of the houses this year have the vortex tunnel? Some people in my group have a hard time with it and want to be ready.
The tunnel in previous years never bothered me but this year i got very dizzy and felt like falling.
The patterns painted in the tunnel are stronger or something. The house itself is not that cool so u guys wouldnt be missing much.

I'm not one of those people who HATES 3-d houses with a passion. Sure, there have been some not-so-great 3-d houses in the past but there have also been some good ones that I have really enjoyed. This is NOT one of the good ones. The house is terrible. Not a single scare and very uninspired set. The execution of the concept is terrible. The description doesn't match up with the finished product. It's a mess. Sure, the scares could potentially improve as the scareactors continue to practice their craft but they don't have much to work with in their environment. If I didn't have Express, I would probably not make it a point to revisit.

I agree with this. Pretty poor house. Chance's mind is not that cool lol.

Why is Ghost Town all over the place in rankings?
Ive heard some people say that the costumes are lame or something. People expected gruesome ghosts or something
-
theres nothing really new. i know it sounds obvious but this was as much of a repeat as american werewolf was (in a way) its not an exact repeat of a previouss house but its a repeat of various WD rooms we all have seen before.
-
i was in line for walking dead and i kept hearing this group saying how "lame" the actors looked in ghost town and how silly their make up was or something like that.
the sets are definitely incredible
-
i didnt see any of the little creepy creatures in the house, like that evil killing robot. i expected this to have more animatronics.

the stuff hanging on Tomb of the ancients poked me in the face constantly.... not good.
About the event changing. I think last year and this year it just feels like a big dance party now, like the park was taken over by a night club instead of a horror event. to me It does kind of feel like if HHN was mixed with Mardi Gras or something. I think the music plays a bigger part of it than most people think. When you would go into HHN and you would hear some horror soundtrack playing on the speakers, it would put you in a specific mood. even before entering you would be in a "horror" mood for lack of a better word and then you would see the zones and then go into the house. it was a whole experience that started at the gate. Now it just feels like Uni was taken over by a nightclub that just happens to have some zones around. I really hope is not a trend.
I think they used to lit the park differently because i remember pathways in the past being red or orange, I dont think they did that now except for the scarezones. i think little things like the lighting and the music add up to make it feel like its missing that "horror" element. the houses are great and the zones are great but the rest of everything barely feels like hhn was taking place. ( for example, just look at how minimalistic the gate is, they barely just hanged the house signs at the entrance. It's the little details that add up) I feel a little bit of concern that this is the new way they will handle the atmosphere of hhn. just a big party.- 5

might be the best non icon show universal has ever had. Jack's shows from 2007 and 2015 were fun but this is just so incredible. This is way better than a magic show or even Rocky Horror.
I kind of wish they keep coming back future years. this is a very high quality show.- 1

the metal detectors being at the parking lot was a blessing, i wish they did it before. it is so much easier to go into the par now

The chance scarezone is creating a Huge traffic jam of people because everyone stops to look at chance and take pics. Today at 9 there was a big crowd around her. but no one seemed to mind. makes me wonder how it will affect the flow of people in the future

Lunatics playground had cool costumes but its not good.

It's kind of weird how this movie, this house was such a dream project for them (If I remember correctly) since its just one room over and over.... It would have made sense if they made a house of the entire franchise itself, or the best scenes from the franchise or something... (or a house based on the prequel)

problem with rain is the ruined wet shoes and catching a cold (some people always always get a cold from raining) and if you wear the poncho then youll be soaked in sweat from all the walking...
its going to be great!

Why?
1) Failed website
2) Failed social media presence in my opinion
3) Lack of a notable media event in advance
4) Awful billboard
5) Generic commercials
6) No exterior park decorations
7) Exterior of the parade building is embarrassingly bad
8) Re-use of TWD again
9) Chance as a b-level icon shoe in that's not used well
10) Bringing in an external group for a show
11) Arguably the most incoherent theme I've ever seen
12) Gimmicky upcharge
13) added thanks to ThNdIzNiR - ridiculous price increases
And I'm not wrong on any of these. Will the event be enjoyable? Sure. Did they drop the ball again, yes.
the biggest irony is that Marketing took over what goes on into the event and they are pushing creative aside and it's all about what brings the more people in, they bring all these IPs in and push away the more original ideas
but then They DONT even do that good of a job in Marketing... what they are supposed to be Good at, what their job actually is... I know the billboard is not that big of a deal and the website is just a place to find info... sure ok.
but Aren't they supposed to make the event seem exciting? isn't the job of marketing to make sure it looks enticing? this makes no sense. I know a lot of people see your points in this post and think you are just nitpicking or overreacting, (And some of your points might be overreacting maybe) But as an Overall Marketing job... they did not do that great of a job. So Marketing start to decide what does on into HHN but then they cant even nail the Marketing for this year? lol wat?- 1

the park doesn't feel eerie anymore (Perfect way to put it)
I understand kids now like dubstep and pop music but they are already coming because of Walking Dead and now AHS... we had to endure 5+ years of walking dead "For the kids" and the regular people coming, I dont understand why they dont just use soundtracks from films that came out this year or recent years. If they used the music from movies like sinister,Annabelle, thats something the teens will recognize. I dont know. Why not use the music from the movies that teens are watching now? Why not use music used in American Horror story around the park (Like the intro music) why not appeal to the youngsters using soundtracks like that lol. i hope it is not a trend that stays
