at what time do you guys caught it?
-
yeah I understand that, definitely understand the being careful part, which makes me wonder If jacks show is funny due to how insulting it is... I didn't think of that, does it make me laugh because it is more edgy? I don't know, maybe.
which makes me wonder if shows can only be funny if they are like that. I don't know, I think u can make a funny show without cursing or being too insulting.
-
why is it that the Jack show has better, funnier jokes than this show does?
i know it is just my opinion, but every time I see the Jack show I always end up laughing. Not just because i like jack, but the jokes are just... better.
Bill and Ted focuses on celebrity name calling and pointing out the obvious, and Jack's delivery is probably part of why I find that show so funny.
But just thinking about the jokes right now, they are just funnier... (I dont know if they have different scripts or if Jack improvises, but there have been a couple of jokes that Jack did about the audience that had me laughing really hard)every time I see the Jack show there is a new little joke or comment that is hilarious, while every time I see the Bill and Ted show it just gets lamer and lamer (I repeat it because the dance number at the end is pretty cool this year)
I used to think that bill and Ted was the way it was just because that's the nature of Park shows, they aren't very funny in general. I started to even accept the fact that bill and ted could never be truly funny.
but Jack's show obviously throws that notion out of the window, and Jack's show is not even MEANT to mainly be a comedy show.... it's also a gory show, Even chance is funnier than bill and ted. her jokes don't change (like Jack does) but they are funny
what gives? who wrote the Jack show? how much improv is there in the Jack show? is the fact that bill and ted's focus on celebrity name dropping and pointing out the obvious what makes the show never be as funny? Does Uni stop the writer of Bill and Ted from making dark humor jokes? or offensive jokes (Jack's show is definitely a little more offensive than Bill and Ted) whats the deal? -
Do we have a complete list yet?
Classic: Nosferatu, Dr. Frankenstein, Frankenstein's Monster, Bride of Frankenstein's Monster, The Invisible Man, NotLD Zombie, Gypsie, Fez Guy, Hunchback
Modern: Freddy, Jason, Reagan, The Thing, Chucky, Tiffany, Dog Purger, 3 from The Strangers, Carrie, Cheerleader Victim, Greaser/Biker dude
I'm certain I'm missing a few. also some names and films to associate the characters with.
also, if they're trying out different characters like the ICONS zone, might as well try the miner guy from My Bloody Valentine
yeah I have no idea why the Miner from Bloody Valentine was not in this zone... seems like a no brainer, he has one of the coolest outfits. Also, there are two (or 3) vampires that I can only assume are from Cirque Du Freak. (can't think of anything else they are from) as well as the Jason camp victim
kinda wish they had jigsaw as well

None at all, In fact they didn't even acknowledge me after I yelled to my friends about finding another coin.
The coordinators, from what I'm hearing, don't know where the coins are coming from. Which means the scareactors don't know either. Besides, good scareactors are more interested in scaring.
getting kind of creepy now
might start some kind of urban legend (the ghost of a hhn fan that leaves haunted coins behind) or something haha

The reason they fail is because budget can only be allotted to so much. If they have 9 houses they will give the largest money to houses they think will be draws, and the least to others. It's a sad situation now where they're almost forced to have money go to the IPs. If they put their money all to originals you'd see equal quality among them all.
yeah that's what I was wondering, it does kind of feel like original houses used to be scarier or just "better" before, but recently they are not that impressive, Budget could definitely be the reason for this.

from what I have seen on fb or just around, the most hated houses this year are 2 originals and 2 IPs.the purge and walking dead are a given because of obvious reasons,
but I haven't really seen a lot of love for the Asylum house or even RUN... which ends up having the lowest lines most of the night (with Asylum having the lowest lines as well) past 2 years the originals got some negative reviews as well, people didn't like Havoc too much and After Life was considered one of the worst 3D houses so far (La llorona was just okay) . Roanoke was not too loved either, (too repetitive) I personally liked Giggles a lot but i remember it wasn't too well received either.so original houses are not the end all of the event either. bad Original houses can be just as bad as bad IPs, or even worse. Why do some houses work perfectly while others dont? (both originals or IPs) is it the location? the budget given to them? the energy of the cast? the story of the house? i don't know, I'm just thinking about it and I agree with this
I agree. And if they have 5 IPs, only 1 or 2 will be high quality. The others will be filler A&D were forced to do. I just want quality horror films for IPs and not marketing bullshit. Cabin in the Woods, AWiL and Halloween are excellent examples of IP houses done with passion. I didn't feel any of that this year, although Insidious came the closest. If A&D have been dying to tackle Killer Clowns From Outer Space or Hellraiser, I want those IPs first and foremost.
I'd also like to see more original content and not mash up/sequels next year. If we have 5 originals, I'm happy with 1 being a sequel.
Side note here: I think this event has passed the point of needing big IPs to pull in crowds. Everyone wants to attend this event regardless of its content. I wish Universal would realize this and get creative again.
is it the passion behind it? could original houses lack some of the passion other houses (Even IPs) have?

Belle has definitely gotten a lot of Jane confusion. Tarzan is not a fairy tale/scarytale though.
The main problem lies in the hat/hair. If they would remove the hat and keep bells original hairstyle it would be more noticeable. Janes father has worn the same hat and even her own hat is of similar nature and of course it takes place in a jungle and Belle has beast scratch marks. Belles blue dress could easily been mistaken as Alice. I just think a lot of the problems would be resolved if they removed the hat and gave her that bun updoo thing.
without the hat it wouldn't look "steampunk" enough lol
maybe a different hat, a different hat would have worked better, a hunting hat, not a safari hat (Where would Belle get a safari/jungle hat like that anyways? From the Castle? shouldn't she have something else on for the head?

This is why they're not going to try getting AHS again and we should stop bringing it up as a possibility for 2016. They've tried the past three years to get it, and after Scream I don't think they want to deal with pushy IP holders.
I cannot see Comcast agreeing to giving Scream another try after the amount of money they lost this year because of the right's holders. Merch, ads, maps, the actual house, costumes, etc.A LOT of money was spent to do Scream, as is spent on every IP, then at the last second they backed out. I don't see them even considering giving that IP or any other property owned by the same people another chance. Why risk getting fucked over again?
Not to mention they gave Hollywood a real hard time with the Scream Terror Tram back in 2011, and that turned out horrible (according to most everyone) because of the shit the rights holders pulled. Only way I see Scream happening is if the IP ends up under the control of someone else, or a scene in a Die-In type house.
I LOVE those Catacombs ideas, Legacy. There's so much that the property can do as far as sequels, same with Nightingales. Only reason we haven't seen anything else with these characters yet IMO is because there's only been 2-4 spots open for originals in the past 4 years, so they're wasn't much room for originals AND sequels, save HAVOC. I think we may see the number of IPs drop to 4 or even 3 next year, or if we do get a 10th house, we'll have up to 5-6 originals, which gives them a spot for a sequel.
yeah, I was curious and kind of excited for Scream this year but after what they did I really don't want to see it back, even if they got it right and the house was great and everything I kind of wish they dont,
With so many other great older IPs out there for HHN to do, it is getting annoying when they keep trying over and over for Ips that have holders that are impossible to work with. it's like, enough is enough... let's try something else out of the hundreds of movies out there.-

I wonder if they will ever attempt Scream again or has this year's dealings soured A&D to ever wanting that property again? (similar to how Murdy refuses to go near it after the 2011 fiasco in Hollywood)
I hope not. Even if they say yes to everything and bent over backwards for Universal I hope they never try it again. Besides we already saw how the sets would be like so it would probably feel like a rehash as well, Ghost face or not....
there are so many other older IPs they can do, let's hope they choose something better -
What problem ? :0 Im totally lost right now. Lol
on the fb hhn group they banned someone because of asking that lol.

Does anyone know the actress' name that plays Chance?
lol
are you referencing the problem people had in the facebook group with this? Lol

Jason and Freddy missing again today.... made me disappointed
-
well there was a flying machete in the movie. They could have attached a machete to a wire and make it go from wall to wall... it could have been done lol.
(Like the way the books moved from wall to wall in dead end)that's what I was wondering about
-
What happened to the idea of flying machetes? Didn't Mike say that'd happen? Never saw it.
what flying machetes???? whats the story
-
That was my disappointment too. They could have expanded on the 80s setting aside from the queue and backstory, and maybe give Eddie more presence. They could have maybe used American Gladiators or again, like I mentioned, 80s WWF as an inspiration, very over the top. Could you imagine something like a psychotic Macho Man or Ultimate Warrior cutting a promo before you enter their room or in the queue video. I kind of feel like this house could have been more, but I still had fun. Compared to the other original houses, this one was in the middle.
that would have been funny and awesome, a gory version of WWF... would have been better
I know people were happy and excited about different countries being represented but i think it hurts the house, a more coherent story with american gladiators could have been better who knows.

This year has been a lot better than the last 3 years, I know it has to do with being the 25th anniversary and all (Uni trying to do the best) but it still has to be said (only because this year shows us how HHN should always be, not just because of being an anniversary year)
This year is probably a 5/5 overall.Houses.
25 Years of Monsters: sets: 5/5 scares: 5/5 costumes 5/5
probably the Best house of the year. They did a lot and they did it very well. I loved everything they chose (cannot remember disliking anything at all) the scares work well and everything looks beautiful. I almost wish this house would just come back as it is for next year (yeah, I do. That's how much I like it, just bring it back the way it is lol) I was surprised how well everything fits together.
Freddy vs. Jason: sets:5/5 scares:5/5 costumes:4/5
A really fun, scary and wild house. The actors are really good at playing their characters, and they look really good in their costumes too (the best ones are Jason. Freddy looks good.... but some of the masks looked a little weird) they did a good job at capturing both worlds and make it cohesive (Believe it or not, this house does kind of follow the movie faithfully in a way. Not an exact adaptation but it does follow the plot of the movie..... even having the demon freddy in it) I like the Jason actors more just because they feel more intense.
The screens are a little cheesy but I let that pass since everything else is so good.
Body Collectors: sets 4/5 scares 5/5 costumes 4/5
Creepy, but not as intense as some of the other houses (Yet that works for its advantage since it makes it feel creepier than the other houses ) The sets are good... but I don't think there is anything that memorable besides the entrance. The gentlemen are very creepy and work well. Can't say too much about the mental patients (I am not sure how many there are, can't really remember any) I do Love the room with the gentleman in red. (overall the house has a sense of dread)
Insidious: sets:5/5 scares:4/5 costumes: 4/5
I did not find any of these movies scary so that affected the way I saw this house a little bit. (I don't find anything scary about women in thick make up pointing at you and yelling) The actresses in the house look just like the character from the movie, but again, Can't see what's scary about that. (They do recreate all the ghosts from the movie very well so I do give them praise for making a very good adaptation) They really did a great faithful adaptation of the movies. The other actors are very scary (red demon guy and woman in black) those are really creepy. (the Hallway made me scream which I almost never do so yeah..) the house is definitely 10 times more scary than the movies ever were.
The Purge: sets: 2/5 scares:4/5 costumes 2/5
they did the best they could (with such little notice) so what can you do. yeah the graffiti walls sucks, the black covered walls suck... I am actually surprised we got such a decent house (all things considered) the actors are doing very well though. This house has a lot of intensity and energy that other houses don't have. That alone makes this NOT the worst house of the event. (A little nitpick... but I was expecting different masks used in the house... I only remember seeing smiling masks and people without any masks. I wish there was more variety with the Purgers.)
Walking Dead: sets: 3/5 scares 3/5 costumes 2/5
yep, We are all tired, everyone is very tired by now... But... to be honest This house was scarier (for me) than last years was (I do think it has to do with how dark this house is)
and While The sets are not bad at all... it is just all the same stuff we have already seen before. (Same environments. same woods. same warehouse, same barn... the costumes are all the same, the scares are the same. etc)
And Seeing how this house is getting some of the shortest lines of the event,it might be the last time we see itI still think Walking Dead could come back next year as ONE of the scarezones, just for old time's sake lol
American Werewolf in London: sets:4/5 scares:2/5 costumes/puppets 5/5
This house is still pretty good... just not as scary (Not as it was before) I Still love those wolves, I love how faithful the sets are... but you can tell people are not getting too scared in this house. For me the wolves are still scary but in all my runs I can tell people are just staring at everything around them an not necessarily getting scares . (The missing actors are definitely noticeable) Having 9 houses is nice and all (and i am glad they brought back one of the Good houses)... but this house just makes me wonder about the future.
(what will they bring back next? what will they repeat?) I was really hoping this was going to be awesome (those wolves are still very impressive to watch) and I was rooting for this to be as glorious as it was. But it just isn't.
This house now feels more like some kind of museum or show than a house.Asylum in Wonderland: sets: 1/5 scares 2/5 costumes:5/5
great Property...funny characters... in a 3D house full of painted walls and Christmas lights.
Not much else to say about it really (It just made me wish they had done a regular Alice house instead) The actors are having fun and they do have nice costumes... but It just feels like so much wasted potential. Nothing about the rooms really says "Alice In Wonderland" to me. (Nothing stands out as actually being "Alice" related besides the Mad Hatter room, the Queen room or the end) So I don't even know how to rate it since it is mainly a regular 3D house that just happens to have some Alice in Wonderland characters inside it. I give the house a 1 out of 5 and the costumes a 5 out of 5
Run: Blood, Sweat, and Fears: sets 2/5 scares:2/5 costumes 4/5
The house feels too disjointed ( I do know what the premise is and I do know what's supposed to be happening) but It just didn't really work for me. I think the idea looked better on paper and I am not sure it translated well. The sets are pretty creative but the house wasn't really scary. It needed to flow better. (I hated the intermission rooms, that felt awful) the translation from room to room is not very good.
not funny enough to be a good comedy house, not scary enough to be a regular house.....It feels like they were trying to have both things going and neither works. (It did not feel like it was taking place in a prison Either, so that's one more thing that wasn't working)
Streets
All Nite Die-In: Double Feature: black and white cast: 5/5 modern cast 3/5
the zone is definitely too crowded with all the people going by... but I can't help but love this zone. Loved it in 2009, Love it again this year (I love the concept of movie characters out of the screen) really wish the zone was on a bigger street. (sometimes the actors cannot even walk) As for both casts, the Modern cast has more energy and scares more (The black and white cast is less aggressive) But I enjoy seeing the black and white cast a lot more. They have more recognizable characters and I just love the effect the make up creates. it is really cool to see all those B/W characters walking around among the normal crowd.
The modern cast does not have as many memorable characters. (some I didn't even recognize) the vampires, cheerleader, where are those from? (The Purge characters feel out of place) pretty much what I love about the modern cast is Freddy and Jason out in the open.Scary Tales: ScreamPunk: 3/5
very nice costumes, Nice variety of characters. Lack of good props hurts the zone (lack of something hanging in the air) The characters are very cool but the zone feels incomplete. (it didn't even need to be anything extravagant, Just better use of their budget for multiple props instead of just one)
They created this One giant prop, but I think it would have been better to have multiple smaller props instead. the one big prop almost feels out of place with the rest of the zone. (this really needed something hanging from above) the actors are great
Evil's Roots: 4/5
I loved what they did here. the zone with the best atmosphere. (much better than the zone last year) great costumes, a lot of fog, good music, really nice props. I loved it.
Icons: 5/5
one of the best zones (And yes, that's because of the stages and the icons) I loved the sets, this is a good sequel to the Icons zone of 2010. I love seeing characters from past years and I love how the Icons each have kills. The only one little nitpick I have is that I saw too many 7 characters around, Maybe I am mistaken but I think I saw 4. overall this zone is a lot of fun, and it can get scary.
Psychoscareapy - Unleashed: 2/5
The zone feels kind of empty (Im not talking about props) it just feels spread out and not as full as the Purge felt. I am not sure why but it feels like it is lacking something.
The actors are having a lot of fun in here, but I don't think Psychoscareapy works as a zone. The patients are not scary out in the open (Nor are they really that interesting) They act the part very well, but it is just not that great without the sets that a Psychoscareapy house would have. The idea for the zone sounded good on paper but I don't think it works as well as they hoped. (The music in this zone totally fits the theme, but it makes it feel even less scary) That was something Else I noticed, the Music kind of kills any change of the zone being scary.
Clown Chainsaws: 4/5
they don't have any props, they are basically a horde, but they are a lot of fun! That Springfield area was always empty (even before they made it into Springfield) so it was really great to finally see a lot of actors around this part of the park. (that was something that had always bothered me about this area) but having actors here really does make a difference (for the better) and they fit with the cartoony look of the area. this was a very pleasant surprise. they are killing it. very happy and i hope they get to come back.

Man, reading this thread is a buzzkill. I was so excited to go through this with my girlfriend who missed 2013. Wish I could just skip it and preserve my memory.
I finally did it today and it was pretty good. I didn't feel the rooms to be empty. for me it was just as good (I know there are things missing but I didn't feel it)
the puppets are scarier, at least in their movements. some of them were freaky.
-
Loud, intense, but not that good.
(which pretty much describes the fan favorite Havoc house... im starting to wonder if that house was not as good as it is said to be)
(oddly enough the sets in Purge are still better than what Havoc had lol)Before the event.. I fully expected this house to bomb. After I have attended the event I will admit I was wrong! I felt the house was pretty intense and people would pop out from the most random places.. in fact one came popping out of a place that I don't believe was intended for a boohole and ran straight into me full force.. (I think I was closer than expected).....Great house! I didn't see the scream similarities though.
This house has given me some of the strongest scares so far. Two times I did jump, I almost never jump but two actors made me jump. They are making the best out of this tricky situation. bad sets and all but, yeah they definitely have the "Purge" personality. you do feel attacked.
-
Today most of the lines were at least 30 minutes or longer. this house was 5... I chose to rather watch the scarezones instead of doing this lol.
I've done it 2 times and I think I am done.-

I didn't understand the beefed-up Freddy. What was that all about?
And in the finale, both times we saw Freddy floating/hanging by wires and Jason slashing next to him. What was supposed to happen here?
the super freddy is the demon from the fvj movie (I think) in the movie he shows up as a demon in a dream
I think that's what it is
-
run never gets lines as long as Freddy vs Jason.
freddy vs Jason gets the longest lines because that's the best house.
Alice in wonderland has the shortest lines.
streets are the best of the past 3 years, not as great as other years but still much better than before.
express helps if u can afford it. It always helps.

Cindy with a chainsaw was a terrible idea.
Lady Luck shouldn't have been in this zone.
I don't know why we saw people from 7 here when they were horrendous.
The stages were really cool, and the actors were ON POINT on those stages.
But the rest of the characters were pretty bad. Would've loved to see decorations off the stage near each icon's piece.
the 7 characters were probably cheap to bring back. I don't like it either but better than having nothing lol.

Yeah, I agree, I totally understand about some houses being faster and less scary so more people go in them...
But a difference of seeing FvJ or the 25 years house at one hour vs seeing American werewolf at 20 minutes at the same time.... that's a different thing. Even if the house is just faster.
You can even see how low the American werewolf line is when you are walking by sometimes. even with being a fast house, there are still not as much people as there used to be when the house first came out.
I get everything that Legacy wrote, but I also see what FoREVer is talking about on the difference between the house lines in 2013 and now.
I personally do wish they repeated houses from 8-12 years ago, repeat all the original houses from the IOA era, I would even wish they would repeat TWO houses next year, if those houses were from before 2005. I wish they repeated Texas Chainsaw Massacre (in another location obviously) or repeated the Icon houses from those years. I dont know if they would be well received but it would be great to see the past come back like that.
Or at least do another 25 years of Monsters house but with other stuff in it, (again, stuff older than a couple of years) if that became an "every year" kind of thing, I think people would be happy with that, even the general public.
