  1. Halloween Horror Nights isn't the only place that uses movies as houses. Knott's Berry Farm had houses based on The Grudge 2, Beowulf, and Quarantine, and a haunt in St. Louis is doing a SAW 3D haunted attraction. But it's generally the fact that HHN had a Thing house in '07 that people are quick to not like this particular attraction. Even though the house in '07 was a SEQUEL to the original film and the new house is based off the REMAKE, which is also the PREQUEL to the original film (not to mention The Thing finally gets to be in a soundstage as quite a number of people were clamoring for a Thing sequel to take place in one).
  2. Glad to see that Tyra Banks Tyra Banks got her comeuppance. And, yes, I said her name twice on purpose.
  3. The fact that the commercial is still up on YouTube and Universal hasn't tried to get them pulled (that would actually make a great marketing gimmick) means they most likely expected or even wanted to get this "leaked", so to speak. Also, interesting they got Fergie to work HHN for them.
  4. I'm surprised no one bothered to mention the way the picture is set up. It has the same rounded edges as a certain picture from the Disaster House...
  5. Well, the majority of the 2004 website was themed to a series of case files of patients inside Shadybrook Asylum, yet there was no asylum haunt at the event.
  6. This is the furthest the house of cards has reached after two games:
  7. That doesn't make much sense if the colored tokens at the bottom of the screen represent the different houses, of which there are 8. That's like saying they didn't need an article for Silver Screams because we were already in the theater. And they've never excluded the icon/main house from the site's festivities. Also, they didn't have a problem doing games for Dead Silence, Friday the 13th, NOES, TCM, and Assimilation.
  8. It's not the scarezone, it's one of the houses: Note one of the cards is green, and when you click on it, the picture of the demon head thingys pops up.
  9. Ooooooooh, floating demon head thingys. At least I can see the blue light come into fruition.
  10. People were speculating a while back about the idea of a horror version of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, and someone mentioned the film Gobstopper as a reference point.
  11. I was under the assumption that The Hallow was the house treatment of Harvest of the Souls from 2006. At least, to me, those two felt a wee bit similar in scenery and premise, so to speak.
  12. It's been done before in the past. Deadtropolis started as a house in 2004, then moved out into the streets as Zombie Siege for '06's Sweet 16. Some believe '08's Skoolhouse to be the spiritual successor to the original Skool from Tales of Terror in 2005.
  13. Both houses are going to relatively be the same; it's just that Hollywood's has that extra tag at the end for whatever reason. Almost all of their recent houses have something extra at the end of the name, like Kill, Jason, Kill (Friday the 13th house), Game On (SAW house), or The Life and Crimes of Michael Myers (Halloween house).
  14. Recent speculation and hypotheses point The Thing house to be in SS22. But I understand why some folks didn't like Assimilation due to the overuse of puppets/animatronics; they work best when A] the line is pulsed, and B] they aren't the focal point of the attraction. With option A, it's obvious because they can be reset when no one is around, and, therefore, everyone gets to experience the effect. With option B, the problem of overuse can be the same as the overuse of blood and gore in an attraction; too much of it is overkill and the rest of the house will suffer because of it (but only if the rest of the house isn't on par with the standout feature, which, 9 times out of 10, it isn't, thus the house fails).
  15. I'm getting vibes that the Disaster house is a cabin of sorts, what with the moldings resembling deer and the wicker furniture. :/
