  1. I mean that's on you if you want an event almost similar to HHN 21 and HHN 20 for the next 10 years, but speaking for myself solely that's the farthest thing from what I want.

I get it, having six great houses is better than 8 that aren't as great, all I'm saying is to offer a certain amount then draw back and still have to pay that pretty penny isnt amazing in my eyes, so it's a complaint...rah rah rah life goes on lol will I still go yes, will I probably bitch about it til I get to the gate hell yeah lol but I know once the event is happening I'll be fine and happy but the anticipation is killing all of us is it not?

  2. There are so many things I disagree with in this post...

It's not a matter of agree or disagreeing. It's a fact that the event use to have less. And it was still amazing with less (my favorite year only had 6 houses).

That's a horrible simile. Not only is the comparison wrong, it compares a haunt event to infidelity.

Wrong. If consistency was key, we would still only have one house, no scarezones, and a show based on Mad Max. Change is a necessity to any thing related to theme parks. It's not Universal's fault that people interpreted, "New Era of Darkness," as, "More of the same."

Depending on who you talk to, the quality has been on a general decline for years. Personally, i prefer a scarier event, and it hasn't been innovative or scary in years. I blame its popularity. You can't be truly scary when you're forced to design to a Congo line.

But Brian Brushwood is fine? Fun fact: Penn and Teller performed at the first Fright Night in Hollywood in 1987. They, to a certain extent, are more Horror Nights the any thing we've ever seen in Orlando.

I'll be honest, I'm not disappointed that I'm missing this year. I'll freely admit, though, that that's because Universal can't give me the type of scares I want. I enjoy scaring more than attending.

However, the amount of incessant whining I am seeing about what may be coming is astounding. It's simple. If you don't like like what they're offering, DON'T F---ING GO! No one is making you attend.

Dude consistency is key with anything, you don't tell people 8 houses and give em 6 and Brian brushwood blows, all that magic show bull crap could take a hike for me personally. I never sai I liked one over the other, plus no one ever gave Brian brushwood a house. So what's up man, we all have our own opinions, a a fan of hhn I go almost every year even though I bitch about things I still want to see how it goes and if it is great why would I miss out? Because a few people on a message board talked shit, for all I know you're all wron and there is nothing right on this board at all. From the rumors it's disappointing and everyone has an opinion, for example you're not even going so why do you care? It's because you're a fan

  3. Back in the day there where no icons or many scare zones yet the events where awesome. Just relax people, it's not the end of the woeld. Hail Penn and Teller!!! :-)

I don't necessarily disagree that before we had a big amazing event there was less, but it's like proposing to your girlfriend then cheating on her with her sister, ya just don't do it. Consistency is key when it comes to events such as hhn and by consistency I mean numbers of houses, scare zones, and the quality of all things. I whole heartedly agree that if the quality of the event is given for a crap magic act I will be very disappointed. Penn and teller have no place at hhn, and if it's a great house I'll admit it but I have absolutely no faith what do ever in them being involved in hhn

  4. Not to be Debbie downer but this is the most negativity I've ver seen about an hhn, I feel like at this point they need to blow our minds in order for this to be a decent event, I hope everything is wrong about the event or else my favorite event in the world is ruined lol, but in all seriousness there's a lot of negativity and it's getting me very nervous

  5. I have nothing against them using IP. I don't know where you got the idea we're completely against it! We're only against it being entirely IP. Even 2009, which was entirely movie-based, had two houses that were original stories to spice things up. I'd be fine with a repeat of that, personally.

Not to knock on your post because I agree, but for a while a lot of people were tearing down the movie house's and the point dr jimmy was trying to make was that even though it says it's an original idea it's usually not. And given his examples he's completely right. Everything in the park is relatable to some type of show or film, the body collectors and legendary truth are two prime examples of why we shouldn't cry about having movie houses, because we are getting movie houses they just aren't stamped with the same title as the film or show, it wouldn't surprise me to see that Victorian house be a mock up of American horror story

  6. Comcast is known for spending the least amount of money to make the most amount of money. When it comes to HHN they will absolutely downgrade the houses and the event itself if they feel it can help their profit margin. This coming from someone who worked for the company for several years and has been a customer of theirs for 15 years. They are all about making more money. Event quality doesn't matter to them, people coming in the gates do. If people still come for a dumbed down event then they will continue to dumb it down. For someone to think that they won't do the same thing with HHN as they do in the rest of their holdings is just absurd.

I've seen many things ruined when new people come on board and it stinks to know that one of my favorite events is in the hand Of a new entity an on top of it one that hasn't done it before, it's easy to say this maybe the most disappointing year lets just hope it's not to disappointing, I mean I so far like the ideas behind the houses besides p&t which everyone is subject to their own opinions but if that's the most disappointing year I'm not to upset, who knows maybe it will be one of the better years and Comcast won't f something up for once...but I doubt it, I'll be there this year but if it is a crap event I'll en up at hos next year plain and simple I they screw it up let em know thy screwed it up

  7. Easy Penn & Teller and Alice Cooper... Mainly because they seem to be houses based on people and not stories... be it original or otherwise. I could be wrong, but I'm also not keen on them either.

I've only watched the first two episodes of TWD but I know its a story about zombies... Good enough.

Silent Hill is one of my passions... so that is fine. The rest are original concepts and I always like those. Even if they aren't my favorites, they at least an attempt at original content.

I'd have to say the same, what everybody is saying about silent hill has me wanting to see the films before I go, I never saw any of them because I never got into video games because I suck at them haha besides resident evil left 4 dead skate and NHL video games are not my forte. But houses p&t would go and possibly Alice cooper after I heard it gets so watered down it kinda turned me off. But I'm hoping it's great. I'd love to see the Victorian house take a rose red turn and I love to see quadsimoto and his evil gargoyles eatting and attacking people

  8. I don't understand why everyone is still trying to decipher the codes. JW spelled it out for everyone a few pages back. I think everyone's speculation focus now should switch to what we will see in the houses that are happening and what the scarezones will be and where they will be. To continue to worry about the "clues" is a waste of time.

    Fair enough lol

  9. Hawthorn you are correct. As someone who has been through all three "The Thing" houses, the house at USH was significantly different from our two USO interpretations.

USH and USO really are two very different events, and unless you attend both it's a little hard to understand. The USH product is a grittier and in some ways more intense event. The "The Thing" house was a very good example of the difference between the two events, in the USH house they did have some very in your face scares that you didn't see at USO. We've been to both events with non horror fans, and the USH product definitely "bothered" them more.

The best way maybe of explaining it, is to simply say this... We generally view the USO event as Wes Craven horror and the USH event as Rob Zombie horror. Two different and equally valid styles of horror. Even though USH has used properties in the past that would fit Wes Craven style horror we generally view them as being done through a Rob Zombie lens.

Their is a reason that SAW, Hostel, and House of 1000 corpses have been featured at USH. There is also a reason why USH has felt in not compulsory to have an icon every year. You basically trade a more in-depth storyline on one coast for a more in your face event on the other. In all honesty based on crowd reactions, both coasts we believe are largely very happy with their product and would likely not be willing to trade it for the other.

If we do see Alice Cooper at USO this year as it appears is very likely, it is even more likely it will have very little semblance to the USH house of last year, and we think largely both coasts will be equally pleased.

So basically what you're saying is even though we get more houses each year in Florida, when it makes the move from Cali to fla it gets watered down? I mean we did have saw and hostel both which I Thought sucked so I guess you're right. I'd hope they don't switch them up to much when it comes to the Alice house and I would love to see a rob zombie house. Could that "when I'm joking I can be quite serious" statement be referring to a house of a thousand corpses house or devils rejects house? I mean we all know the nature of those films.

  10. I really wanna see Alice cooper because I'm a huge fan of metal music and alice cooper seems like a sick show to see, put it in a house and im in. I'd love to see the original concepts come to life. But i don't think the gargoyle house is going to happen, I think that clue has to do with the lake show , as much as I want there to be a cool house with gargoyles in it that clue just shouts water show to me, even though I know I'll get chewed out for this one lol I just don't wanna get my hopes up. Things will deffinetley change just look how theyve gone in the past.

  11. I'd love it if P&T prove everyone wrong it'd be great. If they prove me wrong I will give them their props for sure.

I have to agree and disagree with you foREVer56. People can express their dislike for the premise of the houses without going through them. What they can't do is say the house sucks outright without going through it. Not being impressed by the house list and not being impressed by the actual house are 2 totally different things. I for one am not impressed by the idea of the P&T house but will go into it with a totally open mind and as I already said I hope they prove me wrong. The truth is nobody has any clue what the event will be like until after we've been through the houses ourselves.

Totally, Im in the same boat you are, you can't judge a book by its cover

  12. Warning: rage ahead, need to get it off my chest. Feel free to skip the post entirely. u////u

I'm still in a state of "none of this is what I wanted" right now, but I'm trying to keep up hope...

As I said before, as long as there's at LEAST one good, thought out, original storyline for a house or scare zone I will be happy to experience it. But as it seems right now, I haven't seen TWD, I hate Alice Cooper, and don't even get me started on Penn and Teller (if they replace the Icon somehow for this year, I will never forgive those responsible). Silent Hill is cool, but, again, not original. I guess the Gargoyle thing could be ok, but, with my luck, it's the one they couldn't do.

Unfortunately, as of now, it honestly looks like this year will be a terrible first year for me, especially if the event has no bloody Icon.

Trust me dude your first year will be good no matter what anybody on this board says, we're all just crazy avid fans that love to analyze each and every point to the whole event, to the point where if we had he space the money and time we could create an event better than hhn lol but once you experience it you'll realize no matter what the houses are uni will make it great and you will have your opinions but no house any where will compare to the time and effort usf puts into the house that was last on your list of good and bad houses

  13. As a magician and a fan of P&T I can repect your view but disagree. I always say if your not a fan of Penn & Teller you just havn't seen enough of them.

They are great magicians and very smart fun and clever folks if they are associated I promise you it will be great.

I recall one birthday Penn had teller kidnapped and blindfolded and when they pulled the blindfold of there were complete stangers tying him up and putting him in a grave dug in the middle of the nevada desert. If thats what they do to their friends I promise you they would do some terrible things to people they have never met but I don't think there will be a P&T house.

Lol I'll take your word for it, it's just hard for me to see them in a house.

  14. I respect everyone's opinions but I say I have to disagree with these feelings about thinking this year will suck, If this ends up being the line up I think it would be a really good line up, I don't think is going to be that bad, really the only house I would think is dumb and not like is Penn & Teller (which might be the comedy house anyway, the only one in the list that sounds like it will be comedy house of the year, so is not even that big of a deal)

Walking Dead, we already knew and most people are happy about it,

silent hill fans have been wanting this house for ages now, a lot of us wanted this to happen, the game is super creppy, it has HHN material written all over it, this would be a really great house, just thinking of the costumes and the sets alone makes it sound like it would be amazing, I think it would really cool, if it does happen it would be my most anticipated house for me,

5,6,7 we have no idea what they are, they could be really good houses, plus they are original ideas, I thought that's what everyone wanted it, original ideas, Dead Exposure was the one house that made me scream, I always get scared but never screamed, Dead exposure freaked me out, I think only 2 houses could be disappointing, 1 and 4, the rest could be great, I don't see why those clues have to mean disappointing and bad houses, I don't see it yet, I think is a great line up actually, I am even Exited about clue 1 actually,

I kinda hope we do get some of these houses, i do not care for Penn & Teller

is funny because Scarezone 7 seems like it was a clue to the house number, while the music in Grown evil was another clue for the house this year lol

I see where you're coming from and not that I think this year will suck, I just feel like some of the clues dr jimmy gave us are just to mess with us. Sure we have 7 houses 7 clues but I still think this maniacal mastermind is doing what he does best and that is turning our brains upside down and screwing with us cause well it's funny lol I don't think all his clues have to do with houses. And for the record the only one I'm against is p&t lol I love the Victorian style house and the facade of a 19th century gargoyle cathedral type house makes me want it and Alice is a mad man, that would be great... I just think p&t are lame

Lol 19th century victorian house not gargoyles Lol gargoyles are much older

  15. If that's this years line up of houses (and I don't think it is) then I'd be very disappointed. You look at those as a whole and it's doesn't get your pulse rating. It's not saying Jimmys clues or hints are accurate at this point although I'm sure at least one is correct. I think Jimmy was wise not come out and declare them set as this years houses at this point in case his "sources" are wrong. Looking at that list it just seems disjointed and all over the place. My gut feeling is it just don't look right. I could be wrong but until I have more firm information I'm going to treat this as unsubstantiated speculation.

I completely agree, and if there's a penn and teller house I'll personally be very disappointed none of those houses sound horrifying lol it sounds like a big crappy publicity stunt to see how many celebrities we can get involved, I'd like to see Alice cooper an twd but p&t is just lame. If all of these assumptions are correct I'd be very surprised and unhappy but I still feel like we're missing part of the puzzle here there's no way usf is going to leave us with such crap house concepts, it almost sounds like a&d had no say like they were just like who's famous? Well p&t are big and but they aren't to big to where we have I pay an arm and a leg and Alice cooper went well in Cali. Ok what scares people? Ghosts! Boo! Done there's hhn 22. I don't think we're getting that there's something we are missing

  16. well technically the Chupacabra is from Puerto Rico, and is related to alien sightings and ufos and stuff, maybe an alien house? that we wont get anymore?

You're right lol maybe an alien house is what's going on possibly an alien chupacabra take over? Could be the dark humor house

  17. I would love to see a cryptozoological house based on maybe all Creatures, jersey devil, big foot, mothman, chupacabra... I could see that, and that's the only thing that comes to mind to me whenever I hear sucks goats lol... As for 19th century that could be our UNi old school monster house... Mostly all of those novels for the movies were 19 th century... Honestly though I think dr Jimmy's just twisting our brains here lol

  18. the background reminds me of the texas chainsaw massacre, is there any difference from last years background, for some reason in my mind they seem fairly similar

looking at the background really up close it actually looks like a horizon, the light being the sun, what looks like wood would be a field, and theres actually what looks like clouds in there as well. then theres blood, could be me over thinking it a bit lol but when i zoomed in thats what i saw.

  19. I hate jk rowlings face if thats how you spell it lol...I don't see the not scary thing happening either, but it would make planning easier haha...I think the best thing they could do is make it in one park 2 parks will make room for so much emptiness, one park consolidated may be better

  20. Hahaha it would suck but it would make planning my trip easier being a dad and all, plus from a marketing stand point you would draw in a way bigger crowd...I mean I know I would still attend the scary side and the not scary side for my son

  21. Isn't that just a slight update of the In-Between? Does no one else think that?

It's kind of the same thing they do every year for the 3d house, the inbetween was personally the only 3d one I liked but even that wasn't jaw dropping, in theory its the same house with a different story, nothing really new but characters, I personally could go without a 3d flourescent lit house, I want them to throw me a curveball and just do everything different because when I think about it last year everyone on this site saw a lot of the things coming, and isn't that kind of a buzz kill? I mean not to be that guy but I like the suspense to, I hate knowing that I'm gonna go and the two houses in the back are usually not that great and to top my night off in the soundstages because those are the houses they put more effort into, I want to be wowed all around I know you can't win em all but somethings gotta be different, the two park thing I hope will do it for me this year

  22. I do think that, although nevermore was awesome and they should do something like that again, I don't see them doing it this year I wish they would with another author but I have to say, and I know I'm swinging for the stands here but I really want a shining house the more I think about it lol...however we all know something apocalyptic will be going on and I can see another catacombs maybe with like a mayan twist you know sacrificial chambers and stuff, that would be awesome
