So, I was in the parks yesterday (forgot the camera) and I saw something... interesting... going on in the Jaws que. We were on the boat already, so be prepared to wait in line if you want a picture, but as you cruise by the back of the building you can clearly see some of the construction going on. I managed to make out a giant, rusty, metal tube with holes in it. I'm assuming its one of those dizzy, spinning tunnels, as the holes looked like they were made to be back-lit, for disorientation. Not sure what the speculation on the theme is, but I thought this might help.

The fact that they recreated the journal JUST for the presentation absolutely made my night. Oh, that and: That girl is a friend of mine, and Eddie managed to scare both of us. Really, they should sneak scareactors into more mundane locations, like restaurants, the complete lack of expectation genuinely made that one of the best scares I've ever experienced at Horror Nights.

That's VERY cool! I had seen this on FB and was intrigued, i wasn't sure if it was a custom, or if the doll had come that way. I've been planing a Cindy for a few years (I never would have thought to use a LDD) and have never gotten around to it. I'm hoping now that I've graduated I'll have time to make a few extra figures this year... Which I'll reveal once Fear is finished. And I've chosen a figure I'll be using for PART of the fear figure. So I might as well call this: UPDATE no.1 stock photo This is the Movie Maniacs Blair Witch figure, which I've had since elementary school (I was a creepy kid I guess). I've decided her arm, face and legs will be perfect for Fear. So I'll start by removing those assets, cut off her horns, and file down the excess. I may have to do some sculpting to get the head to be the proper shape. The left arm will also require minimal sculpting to achieve the look of skin peeling away to reveal bark. As for the legs, I'm aware that Fear wears a robe around the entire lower half of his body, but I'd like there to be a sturdy support underneath that will fit thematically with the rest of the figure, should someone choose to peek under his skirt (PERV!). I'm going to need to buy a shirtless male figure, as I have nothing left to really work with from my childhood. I'm thinking a wrestling figure? I mean, Fear is pretty buff... So this had become sort of a tradition for me, back on vault, and now that there are numerous photos of Fear available... so I'm starting this thread by asking, no, BEGGING the mods not to move it to Fan Art, (at least not until the event is over)... PEASE??? That said, for those who aren't familiar with what this is, I should clarify that this is NOT an actual figure available for sale. Rather, its a tradition I've kept up with where I convert an action figure (old stuff from my childhood) into a Halloween Horror Nights character/icon. In the past I've done Jack, The Caretaker, The Director, Eddie, The Storyteller, Bloody Mary, and The Usher (all of which I'll repost here, later, when I'm not at work). So now thanks to the Media Gift photo and photos from the employee preview I'm just about ready to start working on Fear (this is the part where I beg to keep the thread in the main HHHXX forum again). I'll be updating on an irregular basis with photos and detailed descriptions of the process it takes to create the figure, and comments/criticism are accepted and appreciated. The thread is also open to anyone interested in posting their own creations, for example, two years ago while I was detailing the Bloody Mary figure, other users were recreating the Dr. Agana Journal... (does anyone dare recreate the Lantern??) So expect the first update on my progress sometime between today and Saturday, but most likely not tomorrow as I'll be a little preoccupied with opening night, where I'll be taking as many photos of that monster as possible... I have a strong feeling that this will take a LOT of reference photos for success.

To be honest, I actually like the blond Eddie better... And I'm actually VERY pleased with how fear turned out, especially the weird lantern demon/shadow entourage.

My first trip to HHN was in 1999 and I was 7 years old. When I tell this story I usually have to follow that last bit with "yes, not only did I want to go, I begged to go. no my parents didn't know what they were, getting us into." and "no I don't resent them for it". Despite that, I'll admit it probably wasn't the best decision, as the event really is inapropriate for a child that age. I cried all night and begged not to go into another house, which was a mute point. We attended four of the five houses, missing only Doomsday (a fact I do regret, to this day). I remember very little from the event, this was nearly (basically) eleven years ago, but a few things do stand out in my head. The Psycho house is the only one that I can remember any detail from (and there arent many) the eyeball room and eyeball people were difficult to forget, as well as a room with heads hanging from the ceiling. There was also a show that traveled around the park on a truck, it was a Terra Throne/Arrival type show, where "drunken guests" (plants) were mutilated for the audience. I recall enjoying this show immensely, specifically because I could tell that it wasn't real. Overall I enjoyed the evening (except for sobbing in every house, and litterally sprinting out of The Mummy) and I blame my obsession with the event, and horror in general, on that night. Its unfortunate that I didn't go back again until 2002, (and the main draw for me that year was that it was at IOA), however I've been going repeatedly ever since '02 and I'm happy to say that this will be year number 10 for me. It was a good feeling, being able to push the button in this thread that said "before 2000", and I'm happy to know that this year I'll have experienced half of hhn's history.

My first year was 1999, and sadly we didn't take any pictures. I do have some from my second year in 2002. God knows if I'll ever find them though... Like FairyCorpse, they are nearly all from the foam area in Toon Lagoon. When I do find them I'll be happy to upload them here (if I can figure out how to work my scanner). I, too, remember a lot of slipping in that foam, and getting it in my eyes and mouth, which wasn't fun. I don't see it coming back. Wow, this will be my tenth year. EDIT: After reading this I feel like I should apologize, I never meant to break into a stream of consciousness narative.

FFP+ just made my year, really, I've never been so happy to be an AP holder. I've noticed over the years that if you get to the park before it opens, and then move directly towards the Jaws house you can experience every house within the evening. I've always had the best luck going in a counter clockwise motion after Jaws (meaning go to the tents. If you focus just on houses, ignoring all rides and shows, your first three to four houses will be roughly 30-45 minutes or less (unless the house is based on a movie, in which case you're screwed for time no matter what). But keeping that method in mind you'll most likely get to all of the houses and maybe even a few rides/show.

Well 14 had Horror In Wax, which was essentially a classic horror movie maze. And its widely accepted that Demon Cantina, of hhn 15, was inspired by (if not based off of) From Dusk Till Dawn.

Me too, but, I personally love the idea of each icon being mixed into a house from the past that they weren't initially involved with. For example, in 2006 The Storyteller was put in Dungeon of Terror, and Jack was put in Psychoscarepy. I'd love to see this done again, but in a more drastic way. Mixing enitre houses AND placing an icon in the mix. Like Screamhouse meets the Body Collectors, with The Caretaker as the mascot. Or mixing RUN and Leave it to Cleaver with Eddie leading the carnage. Icons could even double up if the theme was apropriate. Putting the Director and the Usher in the same house would be more than perfect. Or the Storyteller and Cindy teaming up to take on Scary Tales. And while I'm personally sick of Jack, there are plenty of places he could fit comfortably.

Hello everyone, its late May, aka "time to resurface from hibernation". Now I have not read this entire thread (I will, I will) but I noticed something mystique said and I thought I'd make amends with a rumor. (Now dont get upset if this has been pointed out already) But apparently a permit has been signed, on May 18. Now, I got this information from HHNrumors and I have no idea how reliable they are. Okay, so I'm very far behind on the times... LOVE the new update, Art Deco is my world (I'm just sayin') Has it been considered that Fangoria could be a show and not a house? Heck, Silver Screams could be a show and not a house... (I really missed having an Icon show last year...) I know its been said but... The leaked picture of the Usher does indeed feature the same font as the RFTSS logo, so the Usher may very well be legit. And while its been mentioned that the Director may be sorely missed this year, what if he is in fact the icon this year, with the Usher serving simply as an additional marketing tool, in fact, the Usher could very well be some sort of obsessed fanatic for the Director, trying desperately to follow in his footsteps (with the results of his fandom to be revealed over the course of the event) I'm very iffy about Cirque du Freak as well, isn't that a teen book series? I read the first three back in like sixth grade. I don't really remember much, but it wasn't exactly frightening. Although I did hear something about a movie coming out next year, and there are photos out there, so it is legit (as a film, not as a house, necessarily). What happened to Army of Darkness??? And eight houses? Sorry, I couldn't resist...

There's this book about the making of the movie "Trick 'r Treat" called "Trick 'r Treat: Tales of Mayhem, Mystery, and Mischief". I only mention it because the execution of the book is absolutely wonderful and intriguing, with pull-out comics, masks and various other goodies (I mentioned this in a thread in the vault). There's a video on the book's product page on Amazon.com that really shows a good example of what's inside. I think if uni A&D were to take some notes from that book they could create something truly amazing. Besides, who says people wouldn't buy it? Look at "Cirque Du Soleil: 20 Years Under the Sun" thats almost exactly what everyone has been asking for with the hhn book, and it still sells relatively well to tourists in vegas and orlando (and this is a book that can be ordered and bought at ANY book store) The HHN 20 Years book could be limited edition (say 10,000 to 100,000 printings) Since this is the kind of obscure product that not many average tourists would buy uni could easily slap the "limited edition" card on it then jack the prices up to $60(give or take) a pop. Being smart they'd expect the major fans to rush and buy a copy as quickly as possible for fear of missing out on the opportunity to own "a piece of Horror Nights history" even regular passing tourists with extra dough would likely be interested. If they kept them on the shelves at both Uni and IOA, during and after the event, they could make a killing.

Well, when put that way I actually like them together a lot. It connects the themes of the event and the icon/mascot/whatever house while being original enough to make sure that each has a different name. Unlike last year (I'm sorry but that really bugged the crap out of me). Despite the fact that I'm not too crazy about movie based houses, I still really like the look of this supposed advertising campaign...

Wow, only my second post and already I'm in awe of this place... I love how I don't have to ready through 20 pages of useless "that is so cool" garbage posts just to find actual speculation regarding the original finding. Seriously, I'm so jealous of you sneaky people with your inside sources. (I want one! ) And as for the pics, I hope their legit; because I love them. It reminds me of the slightly cheesy, yet still rather creepy hhn ad's from the mid to late nineties. And despite how cliched and corny it sounds I actually like the rumored title "Silver Screams" quite a bit, rather than the posted "Ripped from the Silver Screen". Besides it wouldn't be hhn if the event logo for the year wasn't slightly cliched and a little bit silly (okay, well to me anyway).
