  1. Lol, what does the order things are revealed in have to do with anything? Everything will get revealed in the end and everyone will know about it. It doesn't say anything about quality. Evil Dead could have been announced last and it'd still be the same house it is now because they've been working on it for months already. As for them trying to reach out to the fans... I don't really think they care about the fans anymore. This year is all about big names.
  2. I thought the Hollywood version was really great. They really didn't hold back, and I hope Orlando does the same but with some different twists.
  3. Oh my group knows that express passes are whats up. I don't have that problem. I've done stay and scream a few times, and while it does let you in to the houses early, it's still during the daylight hours kinda and it's VERY dark, which can be both good and bad. I went through the Hallow back in 08 all alone, and it was terrifying in the most awesome way. I couldn't see a damn thing. It's also cool when there's a dark house, like DE or Terror Mines because it amplifies the darkness a bit. Personally I say just get an express pass. You can't really go wrong, it's worth the money. Even if you don't REALLY need it, you can still use it to hit your favorite houses for another time (or all of them!) Also! If you don't end up getting express passes, you can still hit them all. You need to plan out everything and I mean everything. I used to start at the Parade building and make my around. But like 12 I'd have every house hit because most people start in the front of the park, so basically you're going against the flow of people. By the time you got to the front, most times weren't that bad because a lot of people were at the tents and parade building. Walk fast and stick to your plan and you'll do em all. Maybe not every show but at least B&T for sure. Times have changed though, obviously, so you may want to reconfigure your plan
  4. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Marilyn Manson would totally come up with some seriously awesome stuff. Doesn't matter if you don't like his music because you can't deny that he's done some really awesome work in all kinds of mediums (video, painting, performance, etc). He may not be what he use to be today but his mind and creativity is all still there, and I think he'd kick ass. He's also a lot more well known in the younger crowd as well, which is good considering I don't think a lot of the younger attendees knew who Alice Cooper was.. In fact I know so, considering my group just HAD to wait in line for it (I had been through, they hadn't... meh) and listening to people talk in line made me giggle. Black Sabbath is a lot more well known so who knows.. We'll have to wait and see what the house is like. Personally, something just doesn't really seem right to me, but I'm open minded. Who knows, it could be an awesome house. But it just seems a little... cheesy. I'd like to see less emphasis on the music and more on an idea that they come up with.
  5. Trying to cram everything into one day isn't very smart in my opinion. I've done a day at Islands and then at night we did Horror Nights and it was exhausting. If you do that, an express is a must because you're not gonna want to stay all night. As for having an express in general, I think it's becoming more and more of a must with each passing year. The lines can be extremely ridiculous, and more than once I've gone and wouldn't have been able to hit every house without it because the lines were so dreadful. Getting there early helps, but honestly waiting till it's dark to do houses is what I've started doing because your eyes aren't adjusted to the dark yet when you first get into the park, which makes seeing the houses nearly impossible sometimes. That is, unless you have an express pass and can double back later in the night to hit the houses you did during the day without the express pass. Express passes can really make your night more enjoyable as well. Standing in line when the wait time is over an hour long sucks and is very boring. Being able to just walk into the houses pretty much makes the night more fun in my experience.
  6. I was kinda hoping for another DE styled house. That house is still one of my favorites. 3D can be great, though. In-Between was awesome. P&T was alright but not as awesome as In-Between.
  7. I thought Coopers house was lame. I don't really think I dig the whole musical artists having houses deal, I mean, a whole lot of people didn't even know who Alice Cooper was when I was standing in line for it. Although, I think Marilyn Manson could probably create something pretty sick.. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the Black Sabbath house in Orlando next year either.
  8. I've been going since 06. I'd like to go back to 06 mostly because I wish I could see everything that was there that year because I missed some of it (and bill and ted was great). If I could choose any year... Probably either XII, XIII or XV.
  9. I agree with the outside of the Parade building... It really is perfect and it makes a ton of sense.. We'll see!
  10. Dreamwalkers was one of the best houses ever. The way they utilized the films was creative and spot on. I also think it was probably one of the scariest houses I've been through in my years of attending. But the Freddy movies are good and have a lot to use (locations, scenes, etc). I thought Dead Silence was well done as well but that was more along the lines of "walk through the movie" type deals. I also thought the Thing from that year was brilliant. Those houses were good because of how they've used them. It wasn't "walk through the movie" (excluding dead silence) it was the movie presented in a different light. Same thing with Dracula, and Frankenstein. They had their own twists. I highly doubt we'll be seeing that at all this year. Cabin in the Woods, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead will probably be more along the lines of Friday the 13th, Chainsaw and Dead Silence. AWiL and Resident Evil could possibly be the Dreamwalkers and The Thing of this year though.. Out of all of them I think those have the most potential to be, anyways.
  11. I think it should start in the prison for some reason.. Then the woods, then woodbury. I feel like the facade for the prison is a little bigger? It'd be cool if they built it outside and had fences around the queue line and bodies and debris on the ground. I think it would even last long enough with the weather in florida. It'd save space, give room for the woods and second facade too, as well as set the mood I think. Who knows. We've only had one facade that was outside in that location, Scary Tales, and it was a 2D Cutout look.
  12. No offense, but I was making a statement. I don't really care if we have an icon or not (although, I do like them). Also, I've been following this event for years, I know what horror nights has been and how it's changed since it's beginning as Fright Nights. I don't need to have gone to every single year to know this. BTW, you could care less? So you do care I guess? I'm a little lost. Anyways, I couldn't care less about the blogger either (assuming that's what you meant) which means it kinda failed at what it was supposed to do. That's what I was getting at originally. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they just dropped the whole idea and focused on other things because it seems completely disjointed. Anyways, it'd be nice if they gave us a little info on maybe Havoc or the mystery house. Nothing major but maybe a teaser? I know it's not an IP or anything but I'm sure people would find it interesting enough and it would keep them guessing.
  13. I'm curious to see how this house is lit. It's really dark in the show from what I remember. Do you think the helmets could possibly return? That might be really cool. Also, is the house just the prison or is it gonna go through the little town as well? EDIT: I answered my own question.
  14. Doesn't surprise me we wont have an icon. No theme = no correlation to anything which means they can throw anything in there and it'll work. The blogger idea is kind of just a unimaginative attempt at trying to please us. Is anyone else beginning to think that none of that stuff really has any significance at all? Is this "blogger" just gonna dig everything up and "unleash" the horror... kinda like Fear and the lantern?
  15. I think he was referring the lack of interest overall. Back in 08 we had a lot of members, old and new, here on the forums partaking in all the shenanigans that led up to the full reveal. This year.... Not so much. It's pretty uneventful, especially since there's not much happening and we know just about everything. When it's good, the forums are always bustling, because people are really excited and look forward to the next reveal. If I'm not mistaken our next reveal is probably Resident Evil or AWiL? This year our biggest reveal will have been the streets, which didn't go well. I think the little excitement that's left is coming from the one house that we don't know much about, and we probably wont see that till the full reveal... So I guess you're right, until the full reveal and construction it's gonna be slow, because it's kind of boring right now. Maybe we'll get legendary truth stuff soon to pass the time?
  16. This year will be fine. The event will always be "fine" and I bet it will just be "fine" for the next few years. The event is getting stale, it's a fact. They're not really bringing anything new to the table, which is why a lot of us are not happy. They don't really care that much about the fans either. Anyone who has been around since at least 2005 knows that we used to have a lot more involvement in the event. This year is just stale. That's it, there's no arguing that the whole concept this year is boring. You know, our opinion do matter. If you don't like the event, go once, enjoy it, and take the survey at the exit and express your opinion. I know somebody from HHN has read what I've said, and I still stand by it, and I will also give them honest feedback after I go. And keep posting here, because they DO look at whats going on here. I speculate that there will be SOME change that will come with this year that will carry over to next year. This isn't just a few people who aren't happy about the way things are... So who knows! So keep your opinions and take the survey when you go. Don't let anyone tell you that you don't matter in the grand scheme of things because that's false. If enough people aren't pleased they'll listen. Just don't be surprised if you get kicked out of the Walking Dead Streets thread for no reason like I did (lol). ps if you wanna talk about the event in the light of marketing, popularity, originality, etc... I made a thread for that. Try not to spam the speculation thread.
  17. Just throwing it out there, but I believe Universal in Japan just opened a temporary Resident Evil "attraction". I put quotes around attraction because it seems more like a video game type experience, kind of along the lines of MIB but without the ride vehicle and live actors (I think?). It's really not a far fetched idea if you really think about it. It's different, temporary, and they could do it leading up to a new season or something. This would also allow them to sell merchandise, too. Quite honestly, if they love WD so much, why not? People always say Universal has been about the movies... Well, more and more of entertainment these days is on television.
  18. Well, even though I'm not a fan of the street experiences this year (i hate it), we are gonna get some street construction I'm assuming, which is always fun to watch!
  19. Well, it seems like you either agree or disagree. I'm not the only one who feels this way on the subject, which was the reason I posted and made this thread in the first place. I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to attack anyone. Lets be real, the people here are the only people who will understand or even care about what I have to say, and forums are basically for posting your opinions. I'm glad at least the people here (a majority, anyways) can have a civilized argument. With that said, disabling me from posting in the Walking Dead street experiences thread is a little lame. I'm allowed to have an opinion, we all are. If we didn't these forums wouldn't be what they are. But, people do get bitter when strong opposing opinions arise, so it's understandable (to a degree, it's not like I'm spamming the forums. I made this thread and used this thread for exactly what I made it for). Anyways, happy haunting.
  20. Actually, the street experiences kind of came in 07 and it failed, then they brought it back last year in a much more fleshed out fashion. Anyways, sure it can be cool. I bet it will be neat. But, it's still all Walking Dead, and with that, I still have zero interest, cus ya know, not everyone likes that show. It'd be cool to see Andrea ripped to pieces somewhere because she's so god damn annoying!
  21. I should have included that the price is also now 90 bucks. It's almost 200 bucks to go on a friday night with an express pass. I honestly can't justify going anymore. There's a point where it just isn't worth it. I'll probably be attending HOS this year. At the end of the night, I wanna feel like my money was well spent... I do agree though. Cabin in the Woods and American Werewolf are very cool houses. But beyond that, I'm not very happy with anything they've revealed this year. There's no denying that Horror Nights has become something else. It's no longer what it used to be. Sure the idea is still there but it's not the same. I used to be OBSESSED with this event and I followed it religiously. But it's not like that anymore. Sad to say, but that's the truth. You can say reserve your judgement, but these passed years have been disappointing to me and to a lot of other people too. I'm pretty done with reserving my judgement because I know there's a good chance it's gonna be just like last year and the year before that. I'll come back when they go back to the roots of HHN, which was scaring the shit out of people and originality, not recreating movies and tv shows. And no, I'm not asking them to cater to the fans. That's dumb. But expanding the walking dead really doesn't do a thing. I honestly doubt that it will boost their attendance that much more. Having the house already does that. Like I said, it's overkill. Not every watches the show and not everyone likes it. It also goes against what horror nights was. They can cater to both the fans and the general public and still make a lot of money and maintain the kickass image they used to have. If you think otherwise, you're just a sucker who will say, "well, it's because they're trying to make money." They could easily do both. It's what a smart business who cares about their customers, and their fans, would do. It's what good business would do. You can say it's silly of me to argue with it, but I'm gonna say you're silly for not. Fans are equally as important as the general public. Selling out isn't always a good thing. Horror Nights got popular for a reason, and it wasn't because they had houses and scare zones that were themed to movies and TV shows.
  22. Well, in regards to the recent walking dead streets announcement... This isn't Halloween Horror Nights. Horror nights used to take PRIDE in the fact that year after year they put out original and exciting new content. Now they're using a TV show for such a large part of the event... A part of the event that really set them apart in the beginning. Not to mention that the TV show isn't that great. Half of the drama is so idiotic and, for the most part, preventable. I stopped watching it because I couldn't stand how illogical and just flat out stupid some of the writing was. This is such a huge step in the wrong direction, I was shocked when I logged in and read it. I understand the marketing aspect of it. I understand having a house, that makes a ton of sense from a marketers point of view. But there's a line that you don't want to cross. Becoming a sellout isn't a good thing. Yeah, they'll draw in fans of the show, but this isn't a Walking Dead experience or convention, and WD House accomplishes that already. Not everyone wants to spend 90 bucks to see the live version of the Walking Dead. This a great example of a lazy, unimaginative marketing strategy. I bet the people who made this decision think they're on top of their game, but if the event continues to be like this, it's gonna come back to bite them in the ass. And if you think people don't care about originality, you're wrong. When I was in high school kids would come back and comment on the event and I heard a lot of complaints, especially on how it isn't the same. A lot of kids my age have gone to horror nights in previous years, as early as 2005. They know what it used to be like and that's what a lot of them really like. Three years of marketing classes taught me that you should always stay true to what made you popular in the first place, because that's what got your success and that's what people want. Reinvent yourself and keep things fresh but also be smart so you can make money. A WD house is smart. This? This isn't fresh. This isn't smart. This isn't reinventing anything. This is just dumb. Other events know what they're doing. HoS with the ALONE house (I think the name has been changed?) and even Knotts has their own similar experience.. People are looking for thrills, not live reenactments of what they've already seen on television.
  23. This just breaks my heart. What a sellout. At least last year we had the legions which were actually pretty awesome. I can understand the house, but dedicating the streets to it? Pure overkill. Marketing really is killing this event... since when did HHN was now a Walking Dead extravaganza? I hope they at least keep the chainsaw drill team around.
  24. Reading the comments on facebook is making me giggle, "Bioshock? The Purge? Walking Dead? But that was last year..."

    Evil Dead

I was referring to the 05 BC house. 08 BC does have some decent gore as well.. I think my gripe with the whole blood and guts is that we've gotten movie houses that are basically known for the blood and guts, and then there wasn't much of it... I expect over the top gore for houses that are based on movies with over the top gore. Saw, for instance... Take a look at Hollywood. That's what I was expecting, not what we got here in Orlando. I don't see the point of doing houses based on movies that are known for their gore but then don't live up to the gore aspect. If they don't have the balls to do Evil Dead the right way, they should just ditch it and do a house called Demons in the Cabin.
