  1. Re:Trilogy of Terror Hope I'm not too off topic but thought it was a neat story to share.... On our honeymoon we visited Universal Hollywood and there was a museum-type of attratction that had lots of Universal props. I remember a lot of the Night Gallery paintings being there. The biggest treat was the zuni doll in a glass case. I thought it was the coolest thing ever and was in horror-geek heaven at the chance to see it. My bride didn't want me to take a picture of it because "it was evil". I didn't. Not sure if I would comply as easily today and I remind her how mean she was to me whenever the subject comes up.
  2. Damn Orfan Pirate --I curse you He got me every frickin time
  3. Of course they will but then again look at all the free publicity they will bring
  4. Although both the military and western theme are apealing for a couple houses and/or scare zones it would be a real challenge to "sell" to the general public. I think by going totaly in either dirction would turn more people off than draw more people in.
  5. My apologies to the mods if this dosn't belong here but my wish is for a year-round tribute to HHN beyond a couple statues in the lobby of the Horror Makeup Show. It's got to be the resorts single biggest event in revenue and press coverage and deserves some real recogination. The most obvious location would be in the Lucy tribute...perfect size and the gift shop could sell classic Universal Monsters merchandise, movies, and posters. Don't know what kind of contract they have for the Lucy stuff but it's a good chunk of prime park real estate that hardly ever seems to be busy. Inagine some displays like we had in the VIP lounge with a video and a few interactive exhibits. Obviously it would be great for us nuts, but I think it has a wider apeal to even a casual park guest than Lucy does.
  6. Last night the HHN cart still had the HHN sign on it but had been converted to Grinch merchandise
  7. In case anyone missed it they were selling Faer shirts and House shirts at $9.99 and B&Ted shirts at $8.99 last night PLUS I was able to still get 20% off by using my universal charge card. The blood mugs were gone...I went back and forth on them for weeks..guess I really didn't need it after all There were still a small supply of lantern pins at the register (not reduced). I imagine if anything is left it will make its way to the exit store this week.
  8. Didn't get to visit as long as I would have liked last night but got to "say goodbye" to HHN XX. It was a more emotion--less scares kinda visit but that was the state I was in. Once again the Orfanage goes down in the record books. Damn pirate (again) and a sweet goodbye to my favorite Cindy. The biggest laugh however was in a room that I ususally get ignored in. I guess its a barn--where the dunking for apples tub is set up. The orfan on the right gets my daughter and keeps pace with her while the one on the left is my companion. He looks at me and says something along the lines of "Gee you're real old mister...wow..how are you still alive". Could possibly be the funniest line all season. I wish I could adopt you all--but don't think I could aford the home owners premiums I miss my orfans already
  9. That darm pirate gets me every frickin time. The combination of a great location and perfect timing is lethal in this case. Shaping up as my favorite house due solely to the amazing cast. The first Cindy, the pirate, the little clown girl, the garaffe, the trick or treat twins, the baby animals ..you are all very sick people and I love you dearly. My fave for this year has got to be the finale Cindy in cast B she has the perfect mix of cute and creepy nailed, she "burns" me every time!!
  10. With just tonight and tomorrow left we sadly bid farwell to Fear and his minions 'till next we meet. Although our time together was short it will live on in the stories, thoughts, and memories that we share about this year. This is not for reviews per say but more for your overall impressions of the event. Interactions, memories, the things and emotions that you will remember long after the calendar tells us to stop remembering. Still processing my thought here as it has been an emotional year for me. I have attended since year one and this is the first year that I have done so without my wife. The hectic pace and walking is something she was just not up to this year. Although she was a casual fan and only attended once each year she was as happy as anyone to stomp out some Bohemian Rhapsody or scream in my ear while cutting off the circulation in my arm as we stumble thru the dark. I love her dearly for the sacrafices she made of our rare alone time to let me enjoy the event. Although I have purchased a FFP since it's inception, I rarely used it more that 2-3 times. One tour with the Mrs and then a follow up quick solo visit to wander or catch a show a second time. A theme park is not designed as a solotary environment and HHN even less so. This year I have gone 9 times (with hopefully a final visit tomorrow) thanks to the stamina and enthusisum of my daughter. After many years of begging (being responsible parents this was years after her friends were going) she attended her first HHN for the IOA/Terra Queen/Storyteller year and we found that she had more of her dad than mom in her in this area and became a devoted fan. This year was her first with a FFP and she has used the environment to work on many assignments from he photagraphy class. This gave us the chance to really appreciate the scarezones like I never have before. She has also done her share of cuting off the curculation in my arm many times so perhaps there's a bit of her mom in her after all I'm thankful that there was enough of the past in this event to give me the oppurtunity to pass along the tales of Halloween's past to my daughter to help he appreciate the depth and layers there are to see. I'm thankful for all the new friends I have met on the fan boards and facebook and look forward to meeting you all and reading of your stories and memories here. You have made it so that no matter how many years pass seeing the image "XX" will always bring a smile.
  11. Well heck I might actually be able to make it for that time 10PM was getting too late for this old-timer. I'll skip the house but shoot for the picture. There's a family issue going on that has me now at only a 50/50 shot of even making it out Sunday night but cross your fingers. I didn't anticipate my last visit being my LAST visit so I'm hoping it all works out so I can say good bye to Fear and the skeletons, steamers, doctors, zombies, icons, witches, dogs, ghosts, inmates, underworld demons, and of course my beloved orfans.
  12. keeper

    Tis Mae.

I just wrote it off to chicks being wacky ...now that Storyteller on the otherhand grrrrrrrowl
  13. Finally caught Kim's cast and got a lovely pic with the Storyteller. She showed such evil glee when I called her by name. A short visit but a memorable one. We tried to catch Cindy but she was darting around like there was a fire or sumptin--I got tired just watchin her. My daughter was on photo hunt so we hung in the "warehouse" set a bit I enjoyed the Frankenstein monster creping up on her while she was fiddling with her camera and scaring her. She also had a great interaction with the vampire...he came up glaring at her she said "do you want a picture" he said nothing "she said back up a little please" he took a step back. She took the picture and he came close to look at the picture on the camera. She said "pretty good" he looked at it, then her, then grunted/growled, nodded to us and walked off funny stuff.
  14. I finally caught Butters around the house opening last night. I gave a shout out "BUTTERS!!" and he kept on rolling. Saying something about someone knowing his true identity and rifting on it without breaking his stride at all--it was a beautiful thing.
  15. Looks like I got the wrong Storyteller too. I was very respectful and said yes Miss Strict and no Miss Strict...she was kind enough to give me the blade to the throat
  16. Cool---send my kudos. It was the perfect mix of great line AND great delivery. "I like ....(short pause) cheese" When we went on the daytime tour that year we stopped in that room and the guide said "there is usually a scaractor near this tree" Everyone in my group interupted and as one said "I like cheese". From that point forward people that didn't know each other in our tour group acted like old friends...it was a beautiful thing. We were "bound" together by cheese
  17. OK smoking in Orfanage line is scarey stuff...way to close to that fire effect for my liking. I do agree it seems this is not a focus anymore. I remember in years past that there were more line ops that seemed were single focused on smoking and cutting in line. It seems that there have been cut backs in the number of line ops and that this is just not monitored like it used to be.
  18. Last night in one of the early rooms in Psycotheraph. The guy that snuck up to the side of my daughter and said "stabby stabby" to her made our night. It will go down as one of the greatest line since "I like cheese"
  19. I've got a guest columnist piece up at Behind the Thrills about our love and hate relationship with the Bill & Ted show. Enjoy. http://behindthethrills.com/2010/10/keepers-tales-the-love-hate-of-bill-ted/
  20. Finale Cindy cast b (i believe) Orfanage around 7PM last night. My absolute favorite character this year--- she makes me laugh and cringe at the same time each time I see her. Me (happily) : "I love you Cindy!!" Cindy (popping around the corner with an almost whisper in my ear) : "I love you enough to BURN you!" oh my god how can anything be so freekin creepy, adorable, and funny at the same time. An amazing cast in this house...that darn pirate kid got me pretty bad last night also.
  21. BSquared...now that's a name I haven't heard in ages. B if you are checkin in give a shout--I will be out tonight for a couple hours.
  22. I couldn't agree more. There is an expression "perception is reality". When you take the aproach and the name you did Alone, the PERCEPTION is that you are a shill for HOS and come here just to get attention and anger the HHN fans. I'm not saying that is the REALITY but perhaps if you look at this objectively you can see how many view this. Like Jake said ilovehhn's review was just that a review that gave reasoning and logic to his/her opinion. There may be just as many that disagree with it but because of the way it was presented the reaction was completely different.
