13 Years in the Making!

Universal Orlando celebrates Halloween Horror Nights 13 at Islands of Adventure. This year we have taken horror to the EXTREME. Get ready to experience gut-wrenching scares and blood-curdling frights so gruesome, so shocking, you will WISH it was only a movie.

Meet the Director. The screams he captures on film are real. And whether you realize it or not, you have been just cast in his next picture.

See Islands of Adventure transformed into terrifying islands filled with:

6 All New HAUNTED HOUSES – more than ever before!
Plus RIDES AND ATTRACTIONS to Make You Scream!

Halloween Horror Nights 13 was just another step in the evolution of the event. Creating its third original icon (excluding the scrapped icon “Eddie” from 2001), The Director, Universal had created a strong and original set of properties. It’s second year at Islands of Adventure, Universal upped the haunted houses to a record number of six.

According to early speculation and news reports, Universal originally planned to have a so-called “extreme house” at this years event. The house was to be located in the Carnage Warehouse and required visitors to be over the age of 18 to walk through – rumors speculate that the actors inside the house were to be allowed to touch guests, and that sections had certain physical requirements. Looking closely at the final event map for 2003, the location for the house was drawn onto the guide, but left blank.

Scream House Revisited, the sequel to the ever-popular “Scream House” from Halloween Horror Nights: Islands of Fear, had 12 show scenes and was 495 feet in length. The house was staffed with a total of 82 actors and saw up to 2,100 visitors per hour.

The Director’s house, All Nite Die-In, had 9 show scenes and was 340 feet in length. The house was staffed with a total of 62 actors and saw up to 2,100 visitors per hour.

13director“They say that film is art, film is NOT just art. Film is power, film is magic, in the right hands, film is a weapon. Now open your eyes, and watch.”

The Director, also known by his real name Paulo Ravinski, was the main icon at Halloween Horror Nights XIII.

Paulo Ravinksi was a motion picture director. He liked to film movies that showed true pain and horror. He would torture his actors and murder them in ways so brutal and violent, that his films were banned in almost every country.

Paulo picked up his father’s camera at 8 years old. He got in trouble because he was wasting film. He would shoot birds with a BB gun and when he’d see them fall out of the trees he would film them flittering. He’s self-taught in terms of knowing what he likes. He then went to Europe and found people who are into what he was doing.

Critics and law enforcement agencies call it snuff cinema, capturing human suffering, torture and death. Ravinski prefers “art.” He’s allegedly an underground favorite in European circles darker than the ones under his eyes. The story goes that someone found his work – films with titles such as The Blood Letting and Death Procession – on the Internet and brought them to Universal Studios Orlando’s attention.

Movie’s which can be seen in clips from the commercials are, Clowns Are Always Laughing on the Outside and Crying on the Inside. He wanted to make that clown cry and laugh at the same time and really get inside him. But Paulo was only able to show a select part of that movie. Paulo did the Rubber Ducky one where a guy is in a bathtub, trapped and you know something’s going to happen. He did one that was about life and death. It was a man in his last days, a lonely guy. The man didn’t have any family. Paulo was able to invite him to his apartment to spend his last days there.

The Director appeared in the show Infestation at Halloween Horror Nights XIII, where he tortured a park guest by having a poisonous insect or arachnid placed on their head. He also appeared in his own haunted house, All Nite Die-In, where he could be seen in the first scene of the maze standing beside a drive-in screen. The other sections of the house were based on his “cut” of four Horror films: “Halloween”, “Friday the 13th”, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.

For the following year’s event, Halloween Horror Nights XIV, The Director appeared in the haunted house Horror Nights Nightmares alongside Jack , the Caretaker and Eddie Schmidt.

At Halloween Horror Nights: Sweet 16, the Director returned as one of the event icons. He was featured at the show The Arrival with fellow Horror icons Jack, Caretaker and The Storyteller. He also appeared in the sequel to his 2003 house, All Nite Die-In: Take 2, where he presented a new “cut” of four more Horror features: “The Ring”, “Hellraiser”, “Scream” and “The Silence of the Lambs”.

Halloween Horror Nights XX: Twenty Years of Fear, saw The Director revealed as one of Fear’s minions: Sacrafice appearing in Fear Revealed, and Horror Nights: The Hallow’d Past.
