Saw

Wonder if there's any fans of the Saw saga here. I know it has a lot of haters but it's a series I love and have been a fan of since almost the beginning. I think it gets a lot of unjust hate. The concept for the time was something fresh and creative, and the sequels did a nice job of expanding upon the storyline and adding new layers to it. I kind of miss a new sequel every year round come October, it's a fun memory I have.

If you'd like, you can rank the Saws in your order of preference. I've seen them all and for me they rank as:

Saw II

Saw

Saw VI

Saw V

Saw IV

Saw VII

Saw III

I still can't believe the first is now 10 this year (and part 6 is 5). How time has flown. I had a lot of fun seeing the re-release of the first one last week.

Saw 6 (absolute entertainment from beginning to end; most hard hitting and best traps -- it should've ended here)

Saw 4 (I loved the "recruitment" angle, I thought that was very clever; pretty good twist but unfortunately it didn't love up to its potential in the sequels)

Saw (the original, I was absolutely blown away seeing this small movie in theaters on Halloween that had some buzz surrounding it -- still an awesome ending and the only one that attempted to be kinda scary)

Saw 2 (didn't seem like Saw or like the ones to follow it, however I dug the idea of a group trap race against time -- it didn't work well later in part 5, but did here, and a clever twist)

And I absolutely HAAAAAAATE:

Saw 5 (just boring; dumb ending that only prolongs things for prolonging sake; it has its moments, but ultimately I hated that it was two different stories/movies almost)

Saw 7 (horrid movie that looks and feels like it went DTV, which is odd since it's the same director as part 6; I loved the ending, but that's literally it)

Saw 3 (started the "torture porn" trend and damn near ruined the series AND THE GENRE OF HORROR -- only part 4 and 6 were able to recover from that -- also, it is slowly paced, boring, way too long, and oddly TOO dark of a movie)

I thought I was alone in liking 3 the least. Most fans seem to like that one but it's the only one of the seven I have a hard time sitting through. Just very boring for me.

Saw (An actual amazing movie, one of my top 15 of all time)

Saw 6 (Just the Carousel trap alone got it up there for me :P)

Saw 5

Saw 7 (3D) (The Final Chapter) (whatever the hell you please)

Saw 3

Saw 4

Saw 2 (I thought this one was so boring and slow paced of the Saw movies in my opinion)

I know I'll be labeled a hater but 3 through 10 IMO were garbage.

With that said... I thought SAW 1 was fugging excellent! I thought SAW 2 was pretty good too! then its went down hill for me... too much going into it. I feel it was trying too hard.

Again the first 2 were awesome!

I just rewatched all the Saw movies recently since I bought the Complete Collection on Blu Ray for a very cheap price so I'll share my thoughts on them.

Saw (This one is actually a pretty good movie, it's interesting enough to keep you into it and doesn't really focus much on the traps but the mystery behind Jigsaw)

Saw 4 (I thought this one was pretty darn clever and easily my favorite of the sequels. This is were the franchise should have ended)

Saw 6 (Who are we kidding the movie itself is horrible just as most of the franchise but I like this one because it has the best traps in the series. The carousel trap is awesome)

Saw 2 (Eh, dint really care for this one. It's ok but it drags on a lot several times and the traps aren't even that good)

Saw 3 (I like the twist at the end and the fact that Amanda died since I though she was freaken annoying but that's about all that's good about this movie.)

Saw: The Final Chapter (Is it just me or does the game this movie is fulled by is Completely pointless. The gore here is cheesy as hell and the worst in the series. The twist ending was alright I guess, gives them something to work with if they ever want to continue the series as I heard that they are.)

Saw 5 (Easily the worst in the series. I don't like Hoffman as the villain which is why I thought it should have ended at part 4. The main game in this movie again feels pointless and is the most boring in the series.)

The most recent film, Jigsaw, was pretty good. My updating ranking:

2
1
6
8
5
4
7
3

Jigsaw (AKA Saw VIII) was surprisingly good and I honestly hope we get at least a couple of more sequels with the way it ended.
