ORLANDO, Fla. (May 8, 2013) – Building on the global phenomenon that is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Orlando Resort and Warner Bros. Entertainment today announced an expansion of historic proportion with the entirely new themed environment,  The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

Scheduled to open in 2014, the world’s first centrally themed, multi-park experience expands The Wizarding World of Harry Potter across both Universal Orlando theme parks and allows Universal’s creative team to bring an unparalleled vision to this unique project.  The new area will bring to life some of the experiences and places found in and around London in the Harry Potter books and films, offering brand-new adventures for fans and theme park guests from around the world.

Diagon Alley and ‘London’ will be located within the Universal Studios Florida theme park, which is adjacent to Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park, where guests now experience Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.  The new area within Universal Studios will be just as expansive, immersive and authentic as the existing themed environment.

And – just like in the books and films – guests will be able to travel between ‘London’ and Hogsmeade aboard the Hogwarts Express.

Work on the new area is already underway.  When complete, it will feature shops, a restaurant and an innovative, marquee attraction based on Gringotts bank – all directly inspired by the fiction and films.

More details on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley will be released over time.

To bring Diagon Alley and ‘London’ to life, Universal’s creative team is working closely with Warner Bros. and the production design team from the Harry Potter films – just as it did for Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.

When the site owner, Ted Dougherty, announced that he was writing a book detailing the history of the Haunt, I was as excited as everyone else. Unfortunately, after announcing this, he took down the vast majority of the site's content, saying it would end up being in the book.

Last year, the book was published, and was even sold at the Haunt itself, available in the Haunt Museum.  Ted was at the Haunt on a few nights, signing copies.  I made sure I got one of those signed copies.

It sat, pristine in its plastic bag, until this last weekend, when I broke it out to read it - careful not to crease the spine.

The book itself is softbound, 8 1/2" x 11", and is an impressive 196 pages.  From the outside, it looks like it could be one of the fantastic Disney books by Jason Surrell.  Off topic, but Jason has books that chronicle the history of Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion - including the differences you will see in the different rides around the world.  Incredible reads.

The Haunt book is indeed chock full pf pictures.  Unfortunately they are all B&W versions of the color photos that were on the site.   My favorite images are that of promotional flyers from the early years.  

The content of the book may or may not appeal to you as much as the pictures do.

A good portion is centered around those early years of the Haunt.  How it started, and how it evolved.  Thankfully, very little time is devoted to Knott's history itself, as there are already excellent books on the subject.   The history of the Haunt is pulled mostly from interviews with those original employees.  Having read the full interviews on UltimateHaunt, I have to say that what is presented in the book is highly edited, and leaves out quite a few great stories told in the interviews.

Perhaps my biggest disappointment was the lack of detail provided on our favorite Haunt mazes themselves.  Don't open the book expecting to see blueprints or maze layouts (there are only layouts for three or so mazes).  There are almost no photos of the interiors of the mazes themselves. Many maze photos are promotional photos you have already seen.  

Some of the most important mazes are discussed in reasonable detail, but the vast majority get maybe two sentences of mention.  For instance, I would have loved to have known the reason for putting a Haunt overlay on the old Kingdom of the Dinosaurs ride, and why they stopped.  Instead, we get a tiny mention of the Lounge Lizards maze and one picture.  

For all the great and important history that is presented for the earliest mazes, it is a shame that so much is skipped regarding more recent years.

We are told that much of the history has been lost, primarily because it was never recorded.  Would you archive your current job, expecting that someday people would be begging to know why and how you did your job?  Well, neither did those early Haunt designers.

But so much has been archived from the 90's on, which is why it's such a disappointment to not find it in this book.

The book is divided into decades - 70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000-present.  It is interspersed with two-page inserts that talk about subjects like the huge role Vampires played, the Hanging, Makeup, Sliders, and how Knott's designs a maze.  These make sense as inserts, as they encompass far more than a single decade of history.  They are strangely placed, though, often interrupting a decade section.

Shows are covered to a small degree - the huge players in the Haunt history all have a fair mention (Wolfman Jack, Elvira, The Hanging, Ed Alonzo, Tony Angelo, and Dr. Cleaver).  No mention of Marty Putz, Rudy Coby, or the many other small shows the Haunt has presented.

It would have been nice to have inserts where we meet the designers of today and yesterday.  The original designers get large mentions.  Everyone else gets a brief mention, but only that.

The appendix is a table listing the mazes that existed every year of the Haunt, and the location of each maze.  

I would have loved to see more historical tables, chronicling Admission price, and number of days the event ran.  We can extrapolate to an extent, given all of the flyers in the book, but many years are simply missing.

Another major gripe I have is in regard to the "sanitation" of the history.  As seen with so many Disney-approved books, the author has nothing negative to say about the haunt.  At its most critical, we learn that the 1990's was the point where the Haunt crew seemed almost complacent.  There is very little mention of the competition (HHN, Shipwreck, etc); it's as if Haunt exists in a vacuum, until it is purchased by Cedar Fair.  We know that is simply not the case.  The competition drove Haunt to step things up.  To take that next step.  The book wants us to believe that the Haunt designers were and continue to be THE drivers of the industry.  The example I give is in regard to the Curse of the Spider Woods, which was soundly panned by just about everyone who experienced it.  The author decrees it a brave attempt by the design teams to break the mold, and describes the experience in a much better light than it was actually presented.  There is nothing wrong with coming out and saying that some ideas were awful, but that is not done here.

If you are die-hard Haunt fan, this book is well worth the $24.95 price tag.  It is now in its second printing.  You may very well find cheaper copies  on E-bay,  Not sure if Amazon carries it or not.

If UltimateHaunt had not already presented far more information on their website, I would say this book is a must-have for its historical content. I truly hope that once the author has recouped his printing costs and has made a nice profit, he once again shares all of the history on the site.  

If you love the event, you'll probably love this book and be left wanting even more.

If you thing Haunt is all about the houses, there is a very good chance you will close the final page having learned nothing new.

I'll go first.

2012 could've been the best year, but the two things that dragged it down immensely... Alice Cooper Goes to Hell and Universal Monsters Remix. Everything else was pretty spot on.

The current Toy Story/CM parking lots seem to be the logical (only?) option to bulldoze and free up real estate for a third park.  The good news is the space is probably as big as DCA across the street, so a healthy-sized third park could exist and be worth the effort (and $$) to build it.  DCA attendance has certainly taken off now that it's expanded, so a third gate in a similar space could pay off just as well for Disney... depending on what goes into it.

And what might be that third park?  Pick a Disney-owned megafranchise!   Marvel Land or the Star Wars galaxy?

Both would be welcome additions to Anaheim and both really deserve their own exclusive parks to get done right for their fan bases. And devoting an entire park to one of these two IPs would guarantee funneling fans through its gates when compared to dropping in a Marvel ride or a Star Wars ride piecemeal into DL or DCA.  Nothing against Star Tours, but Disney buying up Lucasfilm pretty much screams the necessity to roll the big dice and do Star Wars big or not at all.  Same for Marvel but without the pre-existing rides to 'compete' with.  Though a whole new traffic plan would have to be developed... phew, the crowd of cars this would bring!

Here's a wild thought: if they went with a STAR WARS park, what are the odds they *might* relocate Star Tours from DL to SWLand once it opened, and then base another attraction (like TRON) in its place?

Which franchise would you pick for a third Anaheim gate and why?  Or suggest other ideas... have at it!

As for the UNI information, I have been asked by my source to not place all that I know out just yet and I respect that. What I can tell you is more general, but still incredibly impressive. UNI has BIG ... no, HUGE ... plans for Central Florida that include major new attractions, the real E-tickets, in the next 5-6 years (they will just keep coming with no gaps) for both parks, the addition of more hotels (beyond the three existing and the one being built -- two with VERY kewl themes), a new water park and ... while y'all debate mythical fifth gates at WDW, UNI will be/is building a third. I guess that's big enough news right there. That's not rumour either. That is the plan right now.

I can tell you that by 2018, EVERY existing expansion pad/locale at UNI and IOA will either have something new on it or something under construction. And Disney fanbois will still be looking at the half dozen or so pads at EPCOT where there is room for complete pavilions or empty locations like WoL and tearing up.

Just wanted to flesh out (a bit) what the strategy here is. UNI (and Burke and Co.) are going full-in on the fact they see a weakness with Disney and untapped strengths with both their existing properties and those yet to come. It isn't all that different from when Eisner and Wells took over TWDC and saw WDW as largely undeveloped swampland (it was) with all sorts of possibilities.

Their goal is by the end of the decade to be realistic competition to Disney, to outdraw at least two of Disney's parks, to have the WOW water park (this is going to be tough because both Disney and SW have GREAT H2O parks), to consistently open new and cutting edge attractions (some thrill, some family, but not ones that are geared simply for the under 7 crowd that Disney covets) and not have years go by without new things, to add entertainment seasonally and to have a stable of their own hotels/resorts with service far above what you get on average at WDW.

It's a very bold and evolving plan, but it is incredibly exciting and sorta reminds me of when ME announced the Disney Decade back at the Anaheim Convention Center in 1990. If UNI is able to do just 75% of what they want (and unlike Disney I don't see them getting cold feet), then Disney isn't going to be able to just sit back because they'll be losing significant market share and all the DVCs they build won't prevent those 'owners' from using them for UNI vacations and maybe a day at EPCOT if they want to wind down from all the excitement.

Ok, so first things first: every available space will have something built or being built by 2018. That means what? New spaces such as the land behind Simpsons, or currently used spaces that can be revamped like Curios George/Kidzone, T2, ET, Twister, etc? The source won't say, so this is the fun part where we get to speculate and argue with each other.

Now, about this third gate.. so many possibilities for so many things. Now, this 3rd park would be built in the land across the street and would require some serious roadwork. There isn't much known at all, other than the fact that it is being planned, but its obviously a start.

Let's open up the discussion with what you would like to see and what route you think they will go with the new park.

Available as a free download for Apple and Android users, guests visiting Universal Studios Florida will be able to bring some of their favorite Universal movies to life through augmented reality technology. With a simple scan of one of the more than 40 movie posters found in Universal Studios, guests will experience wildly unique and interactive content – from narrowly escaping a T-Rex to fending off a vicious shark to testing their knowledge with movie trivia and more.

The new app allows you to…

• Interact with iconic characters from Universal films as they smash through the screen in mind-blowing augmented reality experiences
• Take photos and video of the experience and share virtual postcards featuring popular Universal movie characters with friends and family on Facebook and Twitter

ORLANDO, Fla. (April 17, 2013) –   Universal Orlando Resort today unveiled a one-of-a-kind vacation package allowing guests to spend cherished family time in its theme parks and then to create unforgettable memories for children at Give Kids The World Village.

Give Kids The World Village (GKTW) is a 70-acre, nonprofit “storybook” resort that immerses children with life-threatening illnesses and their families in joy, hope, laughter and non-stop fun at Central Florida’s world-class attractions.

With this vacation offer, guests will spend two days enjoying unparalleled thrills at the Universal Orlando theme parks and one day making the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses come true as they come face-to-face with their favorite storybook characters, get their faces painted, receive makeovers and more. Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations will also donate $100 to Give Kids The World for every package booked.

• La-Ti-Da-Spa – Volunteers assist with makeovers, including face-painting, nails, makeup, hand massage and airbrush tattoos.  Volunteers 16 and older. 
• Gingerbread House – Volunteers engage in high interaction with special guests by serving breakfast, running food, refilling drinks, bussing tables and clean-up.
• Express Breakfast – Volunteers serve breakfast food to-go and are responsible for greeting guests, taking orders and packaging food.

Volunteers must be a minimum of 8-years-old to participate and those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Interested participants must complete an online application and waiver.  Volunteers 18 and older are required to complete a background check.

I would have to go with one of the demon costumes from The In-Between (HHN 21). The bat-like creatures from that haunted house were one of the few creatures in HHN that have actually frightened me in the event and for that alone they have a place in my dark heart. -other creatures that have truly scared me: The body collectors, the creature (Creatures!, 2008), Dead Exposure zombies.-

Hmm... now that I think about it, the Owl costumes from the Grown Evil scarezone (HHN 21) were amazing too, although not scary.

Big Time Rush will return to the Universal Studios Florida Music Plaza stage on Sat., June 8. Summer Concert Series features six nights of incredible performances, including some of the biggest names in the music industry.  The full line-up will be announced at a later date.

ORLANDO, Fla. (February 26, 2013) – Guests can now book reservations for Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, the new, 1800-room hotel at Universal Orlando Resort that will feature value-priced guest rooms and moderately priced family suites.

The hotel is scheduled to open in early 2014 - with reservations now being accepted for stays beginning on March 31, 2014.

The new hotel is the fourth hotel within Universal Orlando Resort and will evoke the classic, retro-feel of iconic beach resorts from the 1950s and 60’s.  An area located around the North Courtyard will open first, followed later in 2014 by an area located around the South Courtyard.  Each area will have a unique look and feel.

Families will have two options for experiencing the hotel – a value-priced standard guest room or a moderately priced, 430-square-foot family suite that sleeps six.  From the moment they arrive, they will be surrounded by the hotel’s bold design, period colors, neon and retro feel.  When complete, there will be two pool complexes with sand beach and interactive features, a themed lazy river experience and 10-lane bowling alley.  Family suite rates will begin at $174 per-night; standard room rates will begin at $119 per-night.  Package rates are available with savings based on length-of-stay; a family of four can stay for seven nights for $47 per person, per-day – including accommodations and tickets to both Universal Orlando theme parks.

“We believe Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort will offer an experience unlike any other in Central Florida,” said Alice Norsworthy, executive vice president of marketing and sales at Universal Orlando Resort.  “And at the same time, it will create an entirely new, value-driven option for families that want to stay within the Universal Orlando Resort.”

As with all Resort hotels, guests at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort will be just a brief walk from Universal Orlando’s theme parks and Universal CityWalk.  They will enjoy benefits that include Early Theme Park Admission, complimentary shuttle bus transportation to the theme parks and Universal CityWalk, complimentary delivery of merchandise purchased throughout the resort to their hotel and resort-wide charging privileges with their room key.  Guests can upgrade to one of Universal Orlando’s three deluxe hotels for additional benefits – including complimentary Universal Express Unlimited ride access.  Those hotels are Loews Portofino Bay, the Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort.

Each of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort’s Courtyards will have a unique design and atmosphere.  They will share a highly themed, two-story arrival building that will also be home to a food court serving traditional American classics along with an ever-changing selection of international cuisine, a 10-lane “retro” bowling alley, a game room and a fitness center.  

North Courtyard (Reservations Being Accepted for Stays Beginning March 31, 2014)

First to open, the North Courtyard and its 600 family suites will be inspired by the sweeping motor courts of the 1950s and 60s.  It will feature four-story buildings with open corridors and direct access to guest rooms.  Each of the 600, 430-square-foot suites will sleep up to six and include a fold-out foam bed, kitchenette, a sliding partition for privacy, two flat-screen TVs, and an extra-large bathroom with preparation spaces for three people at once.

The suite buildings will surround a more than 10,000-square-foot, zero-entry pool with a 100-foot water slide, waterfall features and 4,000-square-foot interactive play area.  Cabanas will be available to guests for rent, and lounge chairs will ring the deck, backed by zones for sunning, game playing, picnicking and relaxing on the grass.

South Courtyard (Opening Later in 2014)

The South Courtyard will also be inspired by the 50s and 60s, but with an entirely different feel.  The South Courtyard will feature a colorful, tropical resort design with serpentine, seven-story towers flowing like waves around a massive pool and lazy-river complex.

A more than 8,000-square-foot, zero-entry pool with a 6,000-square-foot sand beach will offer plenty of entertainment options, including the first lazy river at Universal Orlando Resort, a 700-foot-long feature offering multiple interactive zones.  In addition to 300 suites, the towers will feature 900 guest rooms that are each 300-square-feet and that sleep four and include two queen beds and mini-fridge.

Rates begin at $119 per night for guest rooms and $174 per night for Family Suites (guests who stay longer will save more, with discounts up to 25 percent off per night.  Package rates are available with savings based on length-of-stay; a family of four can stay for seven nights for $47 per person, per-day – including accommodations and tickets to both Universal Orlando theme parks.

Stars of NBC’s daytime drama “Days of Our Lives” will attend a fan event at Universal Orlando Resort on Saturday, February 23.  Fans of the hit series will have the chance to meet many of their favorite stars of the show during autograph signings and a Q&A session.  These events will happen throughout Universal Orlando Resort, including Universal CityWalk and Universal Studios Florida (theme park admission required).

Stars in attendance will be:  James Scott, John Aniston, Arianne Zucker, Shawn Christian, Eric Martsolf, Peggy McCay, Kate Mansi, Camila Banus, Galen Gering and Casey Deidrick.

Later that evening, fans can see their favorite stars toss beads from a dazzling float during Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras parade.   Running Saturdays and select nights Feb. 9 through April 20, Mardi Gras also features authentic New Orleans bands, Cajun cuisine and live concerts by top-name artists.

One of our favorites was the Hawaiian cheeseburger at Tangaroa Terrace ― Casual Island Dining at the Disneyland Hotel, a third-pounder of Angus beef with freshly grilled pineapple, Havarti cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and a drizzle of sweet teriyaki sauce on a multigrain bun. (And we didn’t mind the crisp, hot sweet potato fries that came with it, or you can also behave and order papaya slaw).

Next door at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, Disney’s PCH Grill offered up a La Mesa Southwest Burger with pepper jack cheese, roasted Anaheim chilies, a big onion ring and a slather of barbecue sauce on a pretzel roll.  Spicy, salty, sweet – every bite is a new taste.

At Disney California Adventure park, it’s a toss-up: the hearty new version of an Angus beef chili burger at Taste Pilots’ Grill or the decadent Kobe beef cheek sliders with horseradish sour cream, red bell pepper marmalade and crispy onions at Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge.  You’ll need a knife and fork to tackle the chili burger – and a pile of napkins.

A favorite that’s been on the menu for a while in Disneyland park is the substantial Angus Pastrami Cheeseburger at Village Haus Restaurant, with Swiss cheese, caramelized onions and mild, creamy horseradish sauce.  Consider sharing this one.

At the Downtown Disney District, we always plan lunch at Uva Bar so we can see what the chef’s featured burger is – but we generally end up with the Uva Burger, a burger topped with aged white cheddar, “secret sauce,” shredded lettuce, tomatoes and pickles.  You don’t have to, but we always ask for the fried organic egg to top it off.

And La Brea Bakery Caf� offers the classic California burger with Angus beef, applewood smoked bacon, red onions, butter lettuce, tomatoes, white cheddar and Russian dressing.  Worth a trip to the Downtown Disney District.

The start of a new year traditionally marks the arrival of new Hidden Mickey pins at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. Cast members at Disney Parks use these specially designed pins for trading with guests.  I received a few questions about the new pins for this year, so I contacted Julie Young, former merchandiser for pins, to learn more.  Julie now develops Vinylmation, dolls, plush and Duffy the Disney Bear, which makes this year’s collection the final series she created.

“I’m happy how the pins turned out this year,” said Julie. “For my final series, I wanted to capture hidden treasures from Disney Parks and include some favorite Disney characters, like Winnie the Pooh.  I love all the details found at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, like the pinwheels found in Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland park.  I think those details are great for Hidden Mickey pins as they make the pins different from other pins we release.”

Similar to previous years, there will be two different series of pins released in 2013 – series A (now available) and series B (the latter will appear toward summertime).  Many of the pins will be unique to Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts (this time, the exception is the popcorn pins, which are a shared set).  As always, you can identify a Hidden Mickey pin with the small Mickey Mouse icon included on the front of the pin.  The back stamp also indicates it’s a Hidden Mickey pin.

I like the Disney Villains parking lot signs from Magic Kingdom Park, as they are a continuation of a collection introduced years ago when I was involved with Disney pins.  The Duffy the Disney Bear pins and cast member costumes are also continued collections from last year.

Other fun pins include the Wilderness Explorer badges inspired by the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at Disney California Adventure park, and the Friendship Boats from World Showcase Lagoon at Epcot.  Julie said the boats were an idea from a cast member who worked in transportation.

Look for these pins on cast members’ lanyards throughout 2013.  As a reminder, you can trade a maximum of two pins, per cast member, per day.  With thousands of cast members trading pins, that is a lot of trades waiting to be made!

Hired in 1939 as a master machinist, one of Broggie’s first assignments was the installation of the multiplane camera at the Burbank studio. Because he was familiar with fabricating small camera parts with great precision, Walt approached him to create a one-eighth scale live steam locomotive. Broggie helped create the Lilly Belle, a miniature live steam engine named for Walt’s wife, Lillian. A replica of the Lilly Belle is currently on display in the Disneyland Main Street Train Station. In 1949, Broggie helped Walt build his miniature trains in the Studio Machine Shop and later installed the Carolwood Pacific Railroad in the backyard of Walt’s Holmby Hills home.

In 1950, Broggie was promoted to head of the Studio Machine Shop and he became the transportation specialist. As plans for Disneyland progressed, he oversaw the development of the Santa Fe and Disneyland Railroad, the Monorail system and Matterhorn Bobsleds. He also worked on new processes and techniques such as Circle-Vision 360, a motion picture format with screens that completely surround the audience, and “Project Little Man” which became the prototype for Audio-Animatronics technology.

While working on “Project Little Man,” Broggie and fellow Imagineer Wathel Rogers constructed a 9-inch-tall figure of a moving, talking man that mimicked vaudevillian tap-dancing using cams, cables and tubes. The original figure is on display as part of the D23 Presents Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum through April 30, 2013.

Broggie is known for epitomizing the essence of Walt Disney Imagineering – the blending of creative imagination and technical know-how. His legacy lives on at Disney as his grandson Garry (son of Imagineer Roger Broggie, Jr.) carries on the tradition as a third-generation machinist and supervisor at the Disney Studio machine shop.

Broggie was honored with a Window on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland park on March 30, 2007. His window is above the Magic Shop and fittingly refers to him as “Roger Broggie, Shopmaster” and “Advisor to the Magic Makers.” Additionally, he has a window dedicated to him at Magic Kingdom Park in the Walt Disney World Resort, and on October 21, 2003, Walt Disney World Railroad Steam Engine #3, was re-dedicated as the Roger E. Broggie in his honor. In 1990, Broggie was named a Disney Legend.

“Tina Fey, your award-winning series ’30 Rock’ has just ended its successful seven-season run on television. What are you going to do next?”

The response from the multi-talented writer, producer, actress, author, show creator and comedienne easily could have been “I’m going to Disney World!” — because that’s exactly what she did.  After production recently ended on her acclaimed comedy series, Fey enjoyed a visit to Walt Disney World Resort.  Her next film, “Admission,” is a comedy/drama co-starring actor Paul Rudd and is scheduled to debut in theaters next month.

Planned for Friday, February 22 at Walt Disney World Resort, the early morning running event will celebrate the inner princess in all our runners, as well as share training and health tips.  

Actor and running enthusiast Sean Astin (“Rudy,” “The Goonies,” “The Lord of the Rings”) is planning to attend, along with fitness star Ali Vincent (“The Biggest Loser”), runDisney’s official training consultant Jeff Galloway and dietitian Tara Gidus.

Two celebrated runners will also be on hand, with defending Princess Half champion and back-to-back Disneyland Half winner Rachel Booth, along with two-time Paralympic track and field medalist April Holmes.

Space is limited. RSVPs should be sent to WDW.SportsMeetUps@Disney.com. Only a limited number of qualified runners will be selected to participate, so be one of the first to apply.

Our Meet-up/Tweet-ups have become wildly successful and each time the response has been overwhelming. Our goal for these events is to reward our faithful runDisney social media followers with a really cool morning of running – with the hopes that they will tweet, post and blog all about it, and continue to grow our runDisney fans. So if you haven’t been following us, now is the perfect time to add @runDisney to your list.

In the meantime, here are a few things you should know:

• All selected participants must be available for a 7 a.m. ET start time on Friday, February 22.
• Qualified applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Valid RSVPs must include your name. RSVPs that include more than one person or are missing information (e.g. incomplete names) will not be accepted.
• Admittance to the event is non-transferable and limited to the selected applicant; no additional guests please.
• The event and individual/celebrity appearances are subject to change or cancellation without notice.
• Because this is a running-oriented event, we require that applicants be experienced runners, able to maintain a 12-minute per mile pace (qualified).
• Selected applicants attending the meet-up are not required to purchase admission.
• We will send an email to selected applicants who sent their valid RSVP via email before we reached capacity to confirm their attendance for Friday. We plan to send this email by 4 p.m. ET today, and we will also post a link on the Disney Parks Blog that will include a list of names of all selected applicants. With so many Disney Cruise LineEuropean itinerary choices in 2014, there’s lots to consider when selecting which voyage is best for your family. To help you in your decision, and because some of the port names aren’t as well known as the destinations you can access from them, today I want to tell you about famous sights you can explore with Disney Cruise Line during the summer of 2014.

Considering our expanded collection of Greek Isles destinations next year, let’s start with Greece…

Picturesque Santorini and charming Mykonos, distinguished by whitewashed buildings and beautiful beaches, are two of the most popular islands in Greece you can visit with Disney Cruise Line. Equally spectacular, and all with their own unique appeal, are the islands of Rhodes, Corfu and Crete (via the port at Heraklion).

Also on the schedule for Disney Cruise Line in 2014 are the ancient cities of Olympia and Athens. Katakolon is the gateway to Olympia, the site of the classic olympic games, and Piraeus is the access point for Athens, home to The Acropolis.

Now on to France and Italy…

Famous locales along the French Riviera, including Nice, Monte Carlo and Cannes, are at your fingertips from the port at Villefranche. Stunning, isn’t it?

Iconic Italian cities and landmarks are accessible from Civitavecchia (a short distance from Rome) and La Spezia (nearby both Pisa and Florence). And new for 2014, Disney Cruise Line guests can venture around Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, from the port at Cantania.

While not a complete list of the many destinations in Europe Disney Cruise Line will visit in 2014, I hope this info will help you plan your perfect family vacation. Which of these locales do you have your heart set on?

Also in the exhibit you see a huge history of Universal, from inception, to construction and designing of all the events...with a huge section on HHN. The coolest part is that this exhibit will change with the season. Right now there's Mardi Gras props in the final room. In May (I think) it will transform into Cinematic Spectacular and Superstar Parade. Of course in September we will get HHN and in November they will turn it into Holidays.

Got a chance to check it out, and had a tour with TJ Mannarino who is always a ton of fun and has a huge vault of knowledge about the park
