  1. I haven't given much credence to what TTT was saying (although some of it may end up working out that way, just because they were educated guesses before he went off the rails.) The YouTube video from Brittian talking about his sources got my attention at the time and I continue to believe that at the time he received it, there is a good chance the info was accurate as of that date. He did say no TWD and I'm still hoping he's right!
  2. Fire, like fire pits, that I don't know could be used to make a Terra Throne Blade? I guess we know what to expect for this year . Mystery solved. Sweet. ; )
  3. Very true, I partially agree but in some sense I almost don't even care if it's a place holder it's so good to have some semblance of spec back. I'll be holding out hope that we will indeed see something better this year until the day they cut and paste a mish mash of unrelated movies and video games on a forumlaic, creatively speaking uninteresting website, so until that day comes, I for one am going to have a great time speculating.
  4. I'm encouraged that more than just a handful of people in our small circle here are seeing many of the same deficiencies we've been talking about for the past two years. Surely that can't be a bad thing using Jeramy's analogy for getting this ship back on course. I think Universal listens more than we realize, maybe that's wishful thinking, but the more voices who speak up to try and improve the event, the better.
  5. Halloween Horror Nights Official Facebook Page: Paul Duurloo "2 things: the street experiences the last 2 years have kinda sucked. I don't know if it's the fact that there seemed to be less scarachters or the fact that maybe you hired the same amount but spread them across the whole park. But it hadn't been great." Mary Anne Paton-Jones "There are a lot of good comments here...I agree with keeping the HHN's 'special' and not getting greedy. We started going in the very beginning, and it was AWESOME back then. We used to go back every year, but stopped for a while because we were disappointed with how 'commercial' it got. Less atmosphere...more people....BOOOO...bring back the intimate experience, with lots of fog, street goonies, and crazy houses!" Sean T. Smith "I've gone every year for 9 years now but I will not be attending this year if they don't have scare zones. The last 2 years have seemed way too overcrowded because of lack of content and lack of attractions. Ticket prices increase but content and attractions decrease?" Frank Holik "NO MORE walking dead or zombies period....try something new and original like the old dayts...." Tracey Backensto "I agree, and I'm a walking dead fan, but after last year hearing the theme song played on repeat for hours, I'm burnt out! I hate to say it, but if TWD is part of it again this year we won't be going either" Karen Diane Avella "I'm the same what Tracey. I've seen ever episode of TWD, but I can only take so much zombie -.- While Busch Gardens DID have a zombie house, they had so much more last year..." Kyle Campbell "spine-chilling street experiences. Please, I would really like it if HHNs went back to the traditional scare zones. Last year and the year before really lacked in that area." Dustin Swagn Faucett "Scare zones NEED to come back this year. Also, zombies are getting very old let's dig deep for gd ideas this year. I don't wanna say it, but maybe I should go to Tampa's Bush Gardens if HHN continues to decrease in pleasure and increase in price..." Christian Rodriguez If the horrendous street experiences happen again and you guys don't bring back scare zones I'm definitely not going Just a sample. #Encouraged Side note: J, I was terribly sorry to hear what happened to you and your family. Hope you'll still make it out! To Universal, all these people and these are just a few of the many making similar statements, in almost all cases are doing it because they greatly enjoy your product. Never tearing down HHN, just very much waiting for the "reset"!
  6. I'm with you, I don't have an aversion to Jack so much, but there are definitely others options I'd rather see pursued. Unfortunately as the focus the past two years has been the near literal antithesis of where I would love to see the event taken, If the rumors were true it's a better "port" than the last couple years without a doubt. An attempt at a storyline would at least leave me hope that this to shall pass, and the focus of the last couple years will not just continue on an epic perpetual downward spiral as it pertains to the creativity of the event. I hold out hope that real "new blood" can be instilled in the event and that once the hook has been set and the GP are used to going to the event every year, that events can be created that will really bring us back to what first made us fall in love with Horror Nights , and give the GP their most epic HHN ever!
  7. HhnBrian, Thank you for posting that. As someone who has been concerned with the recent direction of the event, If the information contained in the video post proves to be accurate, then I must say I am very cautiously optimistic for HHN 24. For everyone who has been around for 5 to 10+ years and seen all the various forms of troll jobs that are always associated with HHN speculation, you kind of get a sense of things, and of people regarding Horror Nights, and I must say he seems genuine. I really believe he believes this information and I for one, hope he's right. A huge thank you to Brian & UK HHN!
  8. I would love to see them adapt your idea into a house J. All the possibilities, there are so many directions you could go with that to make a sick house/house(s) . I would enjoy seeing a scarezone adaptation as well, just so you could spend more time enjoying it and capturing all the magnificent details! Phenomenal ideas Jeramy. I haven't posted much lately, but I just wanted to tell you, your post on the difference of speculating on a wide open overarching theme for the event vs. just naming movies and video games was spot on. Damn I miss those days!! Happy to be back, much love to everybody! Prom
  9. If the last couple years are any indication, I do believe FFP Express came out the last week of July both years.
  10. I know I'm in the minority and that's OK. I'm not going to get into a fracas. What I will say is this forum is superlative because of the people who frequent it. I simply wanted to say thank you to two individuals for bringing some salient points to the discussion. In doing so, I noted the difference between how the event is viewed in different circles. I appreciate anyone who contributes to the many quality disucssions on these forums and who does so without unconstructive retorts that do nothing but seek to belittle an bemean someone else for having a point of view. There are more names then I could possibly mention and if you are one of those people whose constructive contributions and knowledge contribute to this forum, thank you as well for making this such an excellent home for Horror Nights on the web.
  11. Jeramy & Zombieman in all the years I've been reading these forums, there aren't two individuals opinions who I think more highly of than the two of you. I just personally wanted to say thank you. In my humble opinion, you guys are spot on in this discussion. Saying the event is what it is, deal with it; it makes money and on and on... That type of thinking misses the point. You all are both extremely talented individuals, who I would venture to guess in general based on everything I've seen from you both over the years, see more than most when they look at things. Leonardo da Vinci, Nikola Tesla, Archimedes, individuals like this didn't see things the way 99% of other people did, patricians and plebeians alike. I know the majority will make references to being scared of change and point and mock and that's OK. They don't see what we see. I will say outside of Zombieman, I've probably been to as many or more events around the country than just about anyone and I love HHN, especially Orlando. When I go to these events I spend signifigant amounts of money, I don't even want to think how much and I can't justify it if HHN Orlando loses what makes it special and becomes just another good event. I'm not scared of change and I don't think the minority who see things as we do are either, we simply see the event for what it was and what it could be and no matter how you parse it, when it comes to an event like last year for various reasons, some justifiable, some not the event wasn't near what it could have been. The trajectory does not suggest last year was a simple blip on the radar. Lastly I'll leave you with this, I'm not looking down my nose at anyone that is generally for people on the other side who love to make fun of those of us who are dissapointed in more and more of the things we are seeing. I can guarantee you this, for all the people who laugh and mock, if 'you gave the three of us the ability to drive the future of HHN, you'd understand. Unfortunately most don't see. Thank you two gentleman for your sustained passion despite the fact that sometimes it seems all you get for it is a kick in the teeth. This was not in any way to try and speak for the two individuals I mentioned, I simply respect and value them greatly as members of this community. Thanks, Prom
  12. It would be the inverse of what I had previously mentioned regarding Wes Craven horror type houses done at USH. In the last five years basically take the most gritty house that USO has done add an exponent using a per house variable, and spread it over the entire park and that is the difference. It's likely see that trend continue with a potential Alice Cooper house on the horizon.
  13. Hawthorn you are correct. As someone who has been through all three "The Thing" houses, the house at USH was significantly different from our two USO interpretations. USH and USO really are two very different events, and unless you attend both it's a little hard to understand. The USH product is a grittier and in some ways more intense event. The "The Thing" house was a very good example of the difference between the two events, in the USH house they did have some very in your face scares that you didn't see at USO. We've been to both events with non horror fans, and the USH product definitely "bothered" them more. The best way maybe of explaining it, is to simply say this... We generally view the USO event as Wes Craven horror and the USH event as Rob Zombie horror. Two different and equally valid styles of horror. Even though USH has used properties in the past that would fit Wes Craven style horror we generally view them as being done through a Rob Zombie lens. Their is a reason that SAW, Hostel, and House of 1000 corpses have been featured at USH. There is also a reason why USH has felt in not compulsory to have an icon every year. You basically trade a more in-depth storyline on one coast for a more in your face event on the other. In all honesty based on crowd reactions, both coasts we believe are largely very happy with their product and would likely not be willing to trade it for the other. If we do see Alice Cooper at USO this year as it appears is very likely, it is even more likely it will have very little semblance to the USH house of last year, and we think largely both coasts will be equally pleased.
  14. We have a huge request for our HNN brothers and sisters out there. If anyone knows how to get in touch with any of the actors from Bill and Ted's who played characters from the movie Twilight could you please let us know? They made the last night of our Horror Nights trip the most memorable night at the event we've ever had, and we would really like them to give them our sincere thanks. If any of our HNN folks would be so kind as to send us a Private Message if you can help, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks you guys are the best, Prom
  15. We just got back from a great few days out in Orlando, we saw lots of our Vault/HNN folks representing, so that was cool. There was a group of about 6 or 7 people in the holding area near the mummy for Stay and Scream on Friday night that we saw, wish we would have said hey, but they looked like they were having a great time. Anyway, the event was an absolute blast, I just have to add to the chorus of voices here, who have complained about overzealous OPS in the houses. We talked to one of the stage managers over at the soundstage houses after a couple of really bad experience elsewhere in the park. He was actually not on the OPS side, but on the creative side and we just really wanted him to know how much we enjoy the event, and how we travel a few thousand miles every year to see these amazing works of art, how disappointing it was to have that enjoyment diminished significantly by overzealous OPS. He told us creative and OPS really struggle to find a balance, but that if you are enjoying the houses as long as you are not just flat out stopping in the houses, that OPS folks should not be yelling at customers and shining lights in peoples faces, just because of a break in the line. At Horror Nights the Hallow'd Past, they were pulsing the line and the OPS were still yelling at folks on Thursday for not being toe to heel. So a huge thanks to the awesome gentleman who pulled our night out of the tank. Just like the stage manager asked us to do, please make sure you are filling out evaluation forms at the end of the night, and politely and respectfully ask the OPS folks to remember we are customers and pay a lot of money to enjoy the houses. /rant
