HOS 2012 Speculation
#1

There was a rumor going around that HOS would not be coming back next year. That is untrue!
At the design forum last week we were told it indeed is and that Alone would be returning.
Also, dates show on the site as September 21 through October 27. But they are subject to change.
Hopefully they will add Halloween.

since rumors going around saying that Death Row Vengeance and Deconstruction are gonna waive bye-bye to howl o scream for a while..
But here are some ideas for houses and scarezones that i have that might peek interest.
House ideas:
1. what about a house that separates you from the group after a blackout and you find yourself on your own from there until your reunited with the group.. maybe call it anxiety?
2. what about a house based of disturbed's album "Asylum" where the guy and members of the band will pop out and torment you.. and call it Disturbed: welcome to the asylum?
3. what about a house based on howl o screams past haunted houses? almost like horror nights he hollow'd past but not quite it?
Scarezone ideas:
1. how about a scarezone based off of vampires?
2. how about a scarezone that leads into one of the houses?
3. how about a scarezone based off a acid spill that mutated everyone in its path?
4. how about a scarezone based off of witches?
5. how about bringing back a favorite scarezone from the past from 2009 and back?
We have a few things confirmed already!

That is definitely untrue, howl o scream is what makes busch gardens tampa most of its money

Not to derail the topic, but did anyone see the latest post on the HoS area? Evidently, they are overtly teasing The Shining and Carrie. I would be very surprised if they landed a deal with King. it would be such a big change of concept for them.
Especially since they do the same 3 or 4 houses for multiple years before they change them....
If HoS gets the rights to use Stephen King's books as houses before Universal does, I'll be veryyyy upset.
It's been speculated for so many years that Universal wanted the rights to Stephen Kings books so it would be quite odd if HOS did get the rights seeing how Uni and HOS had the same idea with a Poe house last year.

And hell, it all could be just a red herring to throw us off. Or he just likes King.

Considering I heard rumors earlier this year (from WoD employees) that BG was contemplating dropping the event due to lack of revenue, not sure where they'd get the money. Then again, maybe this is a "go big or go home" play--but I just find that hard to believe.
I have been to HoS about 4 times and each time I have been all the houses had atleast a 60 min wait. Some even more... With all the horror event I have seen around town, theme parks, and school. I have seen an equal share of HHN and HoS. So I doubt they would drop the event.

Per HOSInsider posted on FB:
HowlOScream As a huge King fan, I can see how that prospect would excite you. However, I can tell you with 100% certainty that HOS does NOT have a Stephen King theme this year.

I HATE THE IDEA OF BG DROPPING HOS!!! Sorry for all the caps but even though I have never been to BGT HOS I DO NOT want to see what a monopoly on Halloween would do to an already lax approach for management at UNI... please please please make this just be a rumor,
Proved to be a rumor this year, as they have posted dates, right? The rumor surprised me too, but from someone fairly tied into Sea World and BG. I haven't been to HoS in at 2 or 3 years, can't comment on how it's doing.

Theres no way Busch Gardens reached a deal with King before Universal did. I'm not buying it.
Why not? BG has been an attraction in the Tampa Bay area for longer than UO has existed.
Mr. King is rather fond of this area. The Shining actually mentions St. Petersburg. It is where Dick Halloran is wintering before he heads back to the Overlook.
Eckerd College is one of the few places he still does live readings and talks. He lives (most of the time now) in the Venice (Sarasota County) area, which is just over the Skyway Bridge from St. Pete. He even participated in the Awake the State rally they had down there.
I would say it would be possible for him to go with the local haunt if he finally did decide to allow his books to become haunted houses.
But, I believe the picture was just a lark, and not a real clue.

Feel free to read it.
As for King showing up at a haunt, I could care less if it were Uni or BG who got it. If it happened at all, I would be lining up for that event now. I would be excited if it was a sanctioned haunt put on by a local highschool.

Hopefully they will add Halloween.
Not going to happen.
Last year Halloween fell on Monday and the last day of HOS was held on Saturday, October 29th. If they didn't extend it for last year they most certainly will not be extending it this year.

I'll give you a nibble: One of the houses that shall return this year is Zombie Mortuary. One of the houses that shall not is Death Row Vengeance.

This is the whole HOSInsider post on FB:
Emphasis mine.Friday afternoon social experiment: We have 85,233 fans right now. If just 11% hit "like" on this comment, that's 10,000 likes! If we can get there by 5 p.m., I'll throw out a little nugget of info a week early...
So, many are thinking that we may actually end up with a full reveal on Friday. Who knows.
