Have you ever checked out Web Urbanist or Urban Ghosts Media? They both have tons of articles/pictures about abandonded cities, buildings, and the like. They are completely fascinating!

Thanks for sharing this! I love these kinds of sites!

very nice. I know of a lot of these places. I've heard it said Centralia, Pennsylvania is the real life Silent hill from the movie.

I found this video on youtube of Centralia, and I really became fascinated by it about a year ago. Watch it, it's really creepy:

Centralia Pa is about an hour drive from where I live. I was there once. If you bend down and touch the ground it is actually hot. It's creepy for sure but is more sad than anything. The steam coming from cracks is just weird and the smell is unforgettable. There really isn't a ton of stuff to see except for abandoned homes, churches and some really creepy signs. One of the signs said something along the line of warning underground fires still burn, Walking or driving on this land could cause serious injury or death. I was with some friends and they didn't really want to explore after reading that sign. I want to go back someday but can't find anyone to go with me.

The abandoned amusement parks are cool I would like to go walk around some of them. Not quite as dangerous as Centralia.

Well... the one in Chernobyl might be :P

I remember Splendid China. Kinda boring and vacant when it wasn't abandoned.

Here is another neat site about abandoned locations. I especially enjoy looking at the old abandoned asylums/hospital, due to the architecture of the kirkbride buildings.

I too have a fascination with abandoned places ,especially Theme Parks or zoos. I'd love to get out to Cali and see the zoo that's abandoned in LA, and I'd love to explore Jungleland on 192 in Orlando (been closed since 2002). Xanadu, which was next door, was really cool to walk around before they finally tore it down a few years back
