With all the buzz surrounding "Tron Legacy" the Suits in Burbank are getting a bit giddy...

How Giddy, you ask? Well, with all the positive buzz surrounding the upcoming film, the Bothans tell me that the Imagineers over at WDI have been given the go-ahead to move further into blue sky development on an E-Ticket attraction themed to Tron for Disneyland. This isn't a green light for the actual, finalized ride, just the opportunity to explore more extensive designs and concepts. Something tells me late 2012/early 2013 could see the beginning of that long talked about, but continually put off remake of Tomorrowland.

It appears the future is happening now...

According to recent tid-bits I heard, this ride is supposed to use a ride system that will be a first-of-it-kind in the world. The ride is supposed to replace Innoventions. If the word-on-the-street is true, then the ride could also be accompanied by a Tomorrowland redo. :)

Can't wait for a Tomorrowland refurb. After all, that first one worked out so well . . .

I have heard rumors from insiders that they should make an announcement sometime this Summer, about when ST and Mermaid opens. Whenever they announce it, it sounds like it WILL happen. This will be awesome!

Well, according to ThemeParkOne on Twitter (BTW, if you don't know him, he is an insider at Disney and has proven to be a very reliable source) said that the powers that be have axed the Tron ride in favor of an Iron Man attraction. :( Oh well, hopefully it'll be better.

Regardless, the re-introduction to the Tron universe at ElecTronica shows that Disney can adapt to properties not normally considered for the park. The conversion to the grid at night for California Adventure was an awesome experience. Marvel's Universe is so diverse, the possibilities are endless.

ElecTRONica is ending this week. Been twice and could not believe how popular it stayed even the though the original intent was to promote the movie. Disney even upscaled the "grid" to have giant video projections on a few of the buiding facades depicting the portal. With all the refurbishments and reimaging set for June, they are replacing the Tron night attraction with an Alice in Wonderland street party!

awwwww! When i saw this thread I got super excited. I've always thought that a Tron ride would be amazing.
I've always imagined like, a Tron overlay for Space Mountain. The beginning part with the charging in SM could have a blue light go over the cars like its scanning them. Then, on the lift, It would look like you are entering the grid (The Grid would start playing) then, when you enter the mountain, it would have like, to tron world projected inside. When the ride starts, Derezzed starts playing and a short neon glow would follow the cars. As you look around, you can see other neon glows from the other cars so it would look like you are in a light cycle game.
EXCELLENT!
